The effects of the aqueous extracts of Bupleurun falcatum and Bupleurum longiradiotum on the central nervous depressive action were studied by the behaviroral pharmacological method. The roots of Bupleuri radix was extracted with distilled water for 8 hours. Effect of extracts were tested by spontaneous movement activity using photoelectric method, openfield method, sloped plate method, rotarrod method and extension of hypnosis time induced with sodium phenobarbital and pentobarbital sodium, and defense against convulsive action induced with strychnine, picrotoxine and electric shock seizure in mice and rats. Extracts was found to pharmacologically expect above various action similar to these of diazepam but action of samples weaker than that of diazepame. Extracts of Bupleurum longiradiotum was definitely superior to the Bupleurum extracts in the central nervousderpressive action.

저자들은 외형상 여성으로써 원발성 무월경과 양측 외음부 종양 촉지를 주소로 입원한 complete testicular feminization syncrome 1례를 경험하였기에 이를 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다 The 46, XY individual with complete testicular feminization syndrome is a phenotypic female who is usually somewhat tall, has excellent breast development and presents to the gynecologist because of primary amenorrhea and an inguinal mass. In complete testicular feminization syndrome, axillary and pubic hair are sparse or absent and some degree of virilization such as clitorial hypertrophy, partial labioscrotal fusion and hirsutism doesn't occur at puberty. We report a case of complete testicular feminization syndrome with the brief review of literatures.
等電點 電氣泳動에 의한 배추와 양배추 育成系統에서의 自家不和合性 關聯 glycoproteins의 比較分析

等電點 電氣泳動을 이용하여 배추의 몇 개의 5-allele 造成과 그들의 F₁에서 自家不和合性의 발현과 관련된 glycoprotein의 band 樣相을 비교 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 배추의 內婚系와 이들 간의 에서 柱頭內 glycoprotein의 band pattern을 分析한 결과 兩親의 band pattern이 F₁으로 그대로 遺傳되므로 써 명확한 同定 및 區分이 가능하였다. 2. 공시된 배추의 계통 중에서 8개의 等電點을 발견하였는데 대부분의 系統에서 pl 7.0 또는 8.6에서 major band를 보이고 있었다. 따라서 major band만으로는 S-allele genotype의 명확한 동정이 불가능한 경우도 상당히 있었다. 3. 상기 bands (pI 6.8 and 7.7)에서의 glycoprotein의 分子量은 pI 7.0에서 49,000-50,000이었고 pI 8.6에서 59,000으로 推定되었다. 4. 양배추는 배추에 비해서 glycoprotein의 major bands와 minor bands수가 많고 매우 다양하게 나타나므로써 S-allele 동정이 배추보다 매우 용이할 것임을 보여 주었다. Band patterns of glycoproteins associated with the expression of self-incompatibility were examined in the stigmatic extracts of self-incompatible Chinese cabbage inbred lines and the hybrids. Clear relationship in the band pattern could be confirmed in the parents and their hybrid, indicating the inheritance of S-alleles to the progeny. Total of 8 isoelectric points were indentified in the inbreds, with the major bands at pI 7.0 and 8.6. Thereforne, in some genotypes, identification of cultivars or S-allele genotypes were impossible with the major bands only. The molecular weights of the glycoproteins were estimated to be 49,000-50,000 for pI 7.0 and 59,000 for pI 8.6 bands. The stigmatic extracts from cabbages showed numerous major and minor bands so that identification of S-allele genotype will be much easier as compared to chinese cabbage.
Transfer-RNA-mediated enhancement of ribosomal proteins S6 kinases signaling for cell proliferation

<P><B>ABSTRACT</B></P><P>While transfer-RNAs (tRNAs) are known to transport amino acids to ribosome, new functions are being unveiled from tRNAs and their fragments beyond protein synthesis. Here we show that phosphorylation of 90-kDa RPS6K (ribosomal proteins S6 kinase) was enhanced by tRNA<SUP>Leu</SUP> overexpression under amino acids starvation condition. The phosphorylation of 90-kDa RPS6K was decreased by siRNA specific to tRNA<SUP>Leu</SUP> and was independent to mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) signaling. Among the 90-kDa RPS6K family, RSK1 (ribosomal S6 kinase 1) and MSK2 (mitogen-and stress-activated protein kinase 2) were the major kinases phosphorylated by tRNA<SUP>Leu</SUP> overexpression. Through SILAC (stable isotope labeling by/with amino acids in cell culture) and combined mass spectrometry analysis, we identified EBP1 (ErbB3-binding protein 1) as the tRNA<SUP>Leu</SUP>-binding protein. We suspected that the overexpression of free tRNA<SUP>Leu</SUP> would reinforce ErbB2/ErbB3 signaling pathway by disturbing the interaction between ErbB3 and EBP1, resulting in RSK1/MSK2 phosphorylation, improving cell proliferation and resistance to death. Analysis of samples from patients with breast cancer also indicated an association between tRNA<SUP>Leu</SUP> overexpression and the ErbB2-positive population. Our results suggested a possible link between tRNA<SUP>Leu</SUP> overexpression and RSK1/MSK2 activation and ErbB2/ErbB3 signaling.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Methicillin resistant <I>Staphylococcus aureus</I> (MRSA) is one of the most important pathogens in human and veterinary hospitals. The isolation of MRSA from animals and foodstuffs has been reported with an increased incidence. However, methicillin (oxacillin) is not used in animal husbandry or in animal hospitals in Korea. In this study, three pre-MRSA and one silent <I>mecA</I>-carrying methicillin susceptible <I>S. aureus</I> (smMSSA) were isolated from retail chicken meat, and three MRSA were isolated from hospitalized dogs in Korea. The three pre-MRSA isolates were determined to have a staphylococcal cassette chromosome <I>mec</I> (SCC<I>mec</I>) type III, and the smMSSA isolate was not classified. The animal hospital isolates were found to contain SCC<I>mec</I> type II. Seven and 15 <I>S. aureus</I> isolated from hospitalized humans and bovine milk, respectively, were also examined in this study in order to determine the epidemiological origins of MRSA. Multilocus sequencing typing (MLST) revealed that the chicken meat and bovine milk isolates were closely related to the animal hospital isolates. The SCC<I>mec</I> characteristics and MLST analyses indicated the possibility of the human to animal transmission of MRSA. These results highlight the importance of identifying MRSA carriers as well as intercepting MRSA transmission because MRSA is becoming increasingly widespread without any plausible relationship with the use of methicillin (oxacillin).</P>
