Survivability of a network is one of the most important issues in designing present-day communication networks. The k-edge survivability of a given network is defined as the percentage of total traffic surviving the worst case failure of k edges. Although several researches calculated k-edge survivability on small networks by enumeration, no prior research has considered how to calculate k-edge survivability on large networks. In this paper, we develop an efficient procedure to obtain lower and upper bounds on the k-edge survivability of a network.

During the past decades numerous attempts to make a reasonable classification of the diseases manifesting themselves as nodules of the legs have been made, but none of the classifications has been generally accepted. The development of the immunohistological method as a diagnostic aid has shed more light on the pathogenesis of these diseases. Yet, the results have been very confusing, not in the least owing to the different clinical and histological diagnostic criteria used. This study is an effort to compare both histological and immunohistological findings with clinical data compiled on nodular diseases of the legs. Twenty four patients who gave a clinical impression of erythema nodosum and/of erythema induratum and 10 patients who have been diagnosed as erythema nodosum leprosum were included in this study. Without any prior knowledge of the clinical data and histological diagnosis, the patterns of immunological reaction were studied by avidin biotin peroxidase complex( A B C) method of immunoperoxidase technique and were divided into five groups. These results were compared with the histological diagnosis and the clinical data. The results are as follows: 1. Histological diagnosis showed that out of 24 subjects, there were 10 cases of erythema nodosum. None of these cases revealed deposits of immunoglobulins(G, A and M), C₃ and fibrin in and around the dermal blood vessels. 2. Histologically 14 among 24 subjects were diagnosed as erythema induratum. In 11 of the 14 cases, immunoglobulins were found in the blood vessel and the fat tissue around the vessels. C₃ was positive in 2 cases and fibrin in 9 cases. 3. All 10 cases of erythema nodosum leprosum, revealed deposit of immunoglobulins in and around the dermal blood vessels. Seven cases showed deposit of immunoglobulins in the dermo-epidermal junction, endothelium of dermal blood vessels and inflammatory cells around the vessels and the appendages. C₃ was found in 4 cases and fibrin in 5 cases 4. In a comparison between 5 cases of tuberculous type and 9 cases of non-tuberculous type of erythema induratum there were no difference in the histological findings and patterns of immunogrobin deposits. These results suggest that the pathomechanism of erythema induratum and erythema nodsum leprosum in this study represents the Arthus reaction, but not of erythema nodosum. The histological criteria used in this study corresponded well with the immunohistological findings.

In the our previous studies about the two-phase NiAl/Ni_3Al alloys, the various microstrucutures of polycrystalline NiAl/Ni_3Al alloys could be obtained by the M_s temperature control of NiAl-martensite including titanium, and the mechanical properties were considerably dependent on their microstructures. In this study, the grain boundaries were tried to align by directional solidification to suppress the inter granular fracture at room temperature or grain boundary sliding at high temperature. To effectively maintain the grain boundary alignment in the course of the heat-treatment of a DS ingot, suppressing recrystallization during solutionizing treatment, which is the preceding process of martensitic transformation of a DS alloy, is very important. Based on the orientation relationship between parent β-NiAl(the B2 structure)and product β'-martensite(the L1_0 structure), the optimum heat-treatment conditions for DS ingot were determined through XRD observation. Consequently, the columnar grained NiAl/Ni_3Al alloys could be achieved for the only Ti-added ternary ingot contrary to the recrystallized binary ingot. And, the columnar grained alloys including Ti could show higher yield strength at high temperature than the usual polycrystalline alloys.

This study was performed for composting of septic tank sludge by batch type enclosed composter. The conditions of each element were the mixed rate 0.5:1∼4:1 of septic tank sludge rice-polishing, initial Moisture Content rate of 50 to 70%, C/N ratio of 8 to 43, and 0.25∼1.51/min·㎏ per volatile solids of Air Quantity. The results of this experiment are as follows: (1) The condition of the most successful composting was mixed rate 2.1 of septic tank sludge and rice-polishings in each sample. (2) The range of the optimum moisture content was 60∼65% simultaneously, mixed rate was 2:1-3:1 the temperature of compost pile for hygienic stabilization was sustained for minimum seven days. (3) The range of optimum C/N ratio 30∼35 showed the fastest and most successful composting . (4) 0.25 l/min-㎏ VS Air Quantity was the optimum of composting. (5) In a day or two, the maximum temperature of 48∼54℃ showed that after inputing composter under the adequate condition of each element: Moisture Content, Air Quantity, pH, C/N ratio etc. The maximum CO₂ production quantity with temperature variation was 8∼11% at 44∼50℃.

Alcohol, water, ether, and petroleum ether extracts of 75 species Korean medicinal plants have been tested for their antitumor activity. Most of the extracts had slight activity only. Some extracts had more pronounced acitivity. For antitumor activity, ddD-Mice of weighing 18-25g were used. 0.2 ml of cell suspension in 0.9% saline-glucose solution containing 10?? ascites tumor cells of either Sarcoma 180, Ehrlich carcinoma was transplanted intraperitoneally into each mouse. The control group animals in a given experiment consisted of 14 mices and the experimental group, 7 mices. The materials to be tested were administered once a day by intraperitoneal injection, commencing the day after tumor transplantation until the test animal died, and then the control group was received only 0.5% carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC). The mean survival time of each group was calculated according to the formula indicated in the protocols of the Cancer Chemotherapy National Service Center. In the antitumor activity screening, extracts had pronounced greater prolongation of survival time (50%-100%) were Aristo-lochia contorta, Lycoris radiata, Scirpus maritimus, Ficus carica, Firmiana platanifolia, Panax ginseng, Piper nigrum among the 75 species. The antitumor screening result were tabulated in Table II.

The contents of N-nitrosamines and its precursors such as TMAO-N, TMA-N, DMA-N, nitrite-N and nitrate-N after broiling of sea-bream, Filefish, and Squid upon gas range were investigated. The contents of TMAO-N decreased remarkably in all tested fishes after broiling. TMA-N increased approximately 5 and 4 times in squid and sea-bream, respectively. DMA-N increased in all tested fishes after broiling, and especially showed the highest in squid. Nitrate-N descreased in all tested fishes after broiling, while nitrite-N increased. N-nitrosamines detected in broiled fishes were NDMA and NDEA. The contents of NDMA were in the range of 9.5~14.1μg/kg and NDEA were 1.2~2.5 ㎍/kg.

The changes in precursors of N-nitrosamines, such as choline-N, betaine-N and total creatinine-N, during the fermentation of high salt-fermented squid, Sepiell maindroni, group with 20% of salt and low salt-fermented squid group with 10% of salt, 6% of ethanol, 6% of sorbitol and 0.5% of lactic acid were investigated. During the fermentation, the contents of VBN were rapidly increased from the beginning of the fermentation until 140 days, and these contents were more in high salt groups as compared with low salt groups. The contents of choline-N were little changed until 80 days of the fermentation and slowly decreased after 80 days of the fermentation to 120 days, but the different of the contents between both salt groups were little. Betaine-N also showed the similar tendency to choline-N, but the changes in low salt groups were slowly increased and decreased as compared with these in high salt group. Total creatinine-N was slowly increased from the beginning of the fermentation until 60 days in both salt groups, but rapidly decreased after this to 120 day.
냉간압연된 Ni₃Al 박판재의 내산화 특성 개선을 위한 NiAl-Ti-Y 코팅의 증착

Since the intermetallic compound Ni_(3)Al has attractive high-temperature properties, Ni_(3)Al thin foils could be used as lightweight, high-temperature structural materials. The floating zone (FZ) method makes it possible to fabricate the thin foils with smooth and crack-free surface by cold rolling up to 96% without any intermediate annealing steps. For the practical application of Ni_(3)Al foils, the other properties such as oxidation resistance, wear resistance and friction resistance should be considered. The 3-NiAl, which is one of the important intermetallic compound in Ni-Al systems together with γ-Ni_(3)Al, have been used as coating materials of Ni-base superalloys because of its excellent oxidation resistance. In this study, the NiAl-based coating was intended to deposit on the Ni_(3)Al foils through RF magnetron sputtering. The binary Ni-50Al coating, however, was not able to form the stable α-Al_(2)O_(3) oxide. Moreover, the rapid Al diffusion between coating layer and substrate was occurred. On the contrary, it was found that the Ni-47Al-3Ti-0.1Y coating showed superior oxidation resistance due to stable α-Al_(2)O_(3) formation and good retardation of Al diffusion from coating layer.

The Ni-rich β-NiAl alloys are considered as potential materials for high temperature shape memory alloys because of their higher thermoelastic martensite transformation temperature. But the transformation to Ni_5Al_3 phase occurring at 450∼550℃ during heating of NiAl martensite interrupts the reverse martensitic transformation, and causes the shape memory effect in NiAl martensite to disappear. In the present study, the phase transformation process in binary Ni-(33∼37 at.%)Al martensite was investigated by DTA, and it was found that the blocker of reversible martensitic transformation was not the β→Ni_5Al_3 transformation but the M→Ni_5Al_3 transformation occurring at 250∼300℃. Therefore, the transformation temperature of M→Ni_5Al_3 determined the critical temperature for operation of shape memory effects. In addition, for verifying the critical temperature, the phase transformation process was investigated for various ternary Ni-33Al-X alloys (X = Cu, Co, Fe, Mn, Cr, Ti, Si, Nb). As a result, Ti, Si and Nb were very effective to lower the A_s, temperature of Ni-33Al-X alloys, facilitating the shape memory effect in Ni-33Al-X alloys. Especially, Si and Nb additions were beneficial for increment of the transformation temperature of M→Ni_5Al_3, resulting in higher operating temperatures of NiAl-based shape memory alloys.
