문화학습을 통한 영어능력향상 방안 : 정의적 의사소통능력을 중심으로

This paper aims to explore the relationship between English literature and language teaching. It is often said that teaching English literature does not have a great influence on improving English skills. It is mainly because teachers concentrate on analysing literary works in terms of literary theory and translating English text into Korean. According to recent research, literature is suitable for student-centered education. It is also suitable for a whole language approach, by which four language skills can be developed at the same time. Given that the affective side of language learning contributes in a significant way to enriching learners' language learning, we would like to propose the need for integrating a humanistic approach in this paper. This paper shows that teaching literature based ON AFFECTIVE SIDE OF LEARNER is characterized by cooperative and interactional activities in their relation to such factors as self-esteem, autonomy, and motivation. This paper suggests a paradigmatic shift from traditional approach to affective approach through English literature which emphasizes process, self-esteem, social skills, cooperative learning, dynamic curriculum, intrinsic motivation, meaning based activities. It is important to select a suitable text for increasing a learner's spontaneous pleasure in reading. Literary works written by major authors but not difficult for language learners are recommended in that they satisfy the need of both the course and the learners.

본 연구는 라텍스 혼입률이 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%로 변화할 때 라텍스 개질 콘크리트의 내구 특성을 평가하는데 있다. 라텍스를 콘크리트에 혼입한 라텍스 개질 콘크리트는 보통 콘크리트의 색상과 성형성, 작업성를 갖으며, 약 20%~35%의 단위수향이 감소된다. 그리고 양생후, 콘크리트는 시멘트수화물과 라텍스 입자의 필름막에 의해 연결된 골재로 구성된다. 일반적으로 라텍스 양이 증가하면 콘크리트의 휨강도는 증가하는데, 이것은 라텍스가 시멘트 수화물과 골재사이의 점착력을 증가시키기 때문으로 판단된다. 라텍스 개질 콘크리트와 보통콘크리트와의 상대투수성을 측정하기 위하여 염소이온투과시험법을 사용하였다. 그 결과 라텍스 개질 콘크리트의 투수성은 보통콘크리트의 투수성보다 매우 낮음을 알 수 있었다. 이것은 라텍스가 미세공극을 충진하고 라텍스 입자의 필름막에 의해 골재와 시멘트수화물이 연결 때문이다. 또한 라텍스가 공극주위로 필름막을 형성하기 때문에 공기량이 투수성에 영향을 미치지 못한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 보통콘크리트에서는 동결융해저항성을 증가시키기 위해 공기연행제를 필요로 하지만, 라텍스 개질 콘크리트에서는 적절한 양생이 이루어지면 추가적인 공기연행제는 요구되지 않는다. 또한 라텍스 혼입률이 증가함에 따라 추가적인 동결융해저항성의 증가는 나타나지 않았다. This study focused on the investigation of strength development and durability of latex modified concrete(LMC) as the latex content variated such as 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. When latex was added to concrete, the workability of LMC was quietly increased, compared to that of conventional concrete. This resulted in the decrease of the required water as 20% to 35% in order to obtain a same slump. In general, increasing the amount of latex decreased compressive strength a little but increased flexural strength quite a lot. This might be due to interconnection by a film of latex particles between hydrated cement and aggregates. This, also, might attribute to bonding between the hydrated cement and aggregates. The rapid chloride permeability test was used to evaluate the relative permeability of latex-modified concretes and conventional concretes. The results showed that the permeability of latex-modified concretes was considerably lower than that of conventional concretes tested, which might be due to the latex filled in voids and interconnections of hydrated cement and aggregates by a film of latex particles. Because of latex formed film surrounding the air void, air contents and voids does not effect to the permeability of latex modified concrete.

Painful periarticular calcifi cation is most commonly seen within the rotator cuff of the shoulder and rarely occurs around the wrist, elbow, hip, knee, foot and neck. As, acute infi ammatory reaction develops, it shows severe pain, exquisite tenderness, local swelling and redness, and limitation of range of motion with pain. In case of calcifi c tendinitis of supraspinatus tendon of shoulder, it can be easily diagnosed by the typical symptoms and x-ray. However, in the hip lesion, as it is a location of rare occurance, and usually causes pain in the posterolateral aspect of the thigh which may simulate radicular pain from a herniated lumbar intervertebral disc, it is not easy to diagnose. Since physicians usually focus on the lumbar lesions primarily, misdiagnosis is common and it leads to delay in the course of management. A 30 year-old-female patient visited our clinic, with complaint of right inguinal pain and radicular pain to lateral side of thigh, which started 3 months ago and aggravated a week before. Laboratory findings such as CBC, ESR/CRP and rheumatoid factor yielded normal. She had no specifi c medical history. Lumbar MRI, proceeded at previous clinic, showed only mild degenerative fi ndings. Lumbar epidural block did not improve her pain. We checked hip x-ray which revealed calcifi cation around rectus femoris of the right-side (figure 1). Hip MRI was done to confi rm the diagnosis (figure 2). Ultrasound scanning on her hip showed calcifi cation around the rectus femoris with mild fi uid collection (figure 3). Local anesthetics and steroid injection was done under ultrasound-guidance and her pain disappeared after 2 weeks. Here, we report a case of 30-year-old female patient with calcifi c tendinitis of rectus femoris, which were successfully managed with ultrasound- guided steroid injection to get the knowledge of management in the rectus femoris calcifi cation.

There are various origins for chronic abdominal pain. About 10-30% of patients with chronic abdominal pain have abdominal wall pain. Unfortunately, abdominal wall pain is not thought to be the first origin of chronic abdominal pain; therefore, patients usually undergo extensive examinations, including diagnostic laparoscopic surgery. Entrapment of abdominal cutaneous nerves at the muscular foramen of the rectus abdominis is a rare cause of abdominal wall pain. If abdominal wall pain is considered in earlier stage of chronic abdominal pain, unnecessary invasive procedures are not required and patients will reach symptom free condition as soon as the diagnosis is made. Here, we report a case of successful treatment of a patient with abdominal cutaneous nerve entrapment syndrome by ultrasound guided injection therapy. (Korean J Pain 2013; 26: 291-294)

Objectives: The objectives of this study are to determine the effects of thapsigargin-induced ER stress on the IL 1βstimulated and RANKL-mediated osteoclast formation and its mechanisms. Materials and Methods: Bone marrow cells (BMCs) from 5-week-old male imprinting control region (ICR) mice were cultured with M-CSF and RANKL in the presence or absence of IL-1β and thapsigargin. The formation of osteosclasts was evaluated with tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) staining and resorption pit assay with dentine slice. The expression of c-FOS, NFATc1 and intracellular MAPK signalings, including p-ERK, p-p38, p-JNK and NF-kB were examined by immunoblotting or semi-quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Results: Thapsigargin-induced ER stress increased the IL-1β -stimulated and RANKL-mediated formation of osteoclasts by upregulation of c-FOS, NFATc1, MAPKs and NF-kB. Conclusions: These results suggest that ER stress is involved in IL-1β-stimulated and RANKL-mediated osteoclast differentiation, and indicate that the modulation of ER stress-associated mechanisms might be a useful therapeutic target for managing osteoporosis or bone destruction in inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis.
