Improved Work Function of Preferentially Oriented Indium Oxide Films Induced by the Plasma Exposure Technique

        Lei Yang,Shuai Guo,Qiuling Yang,Yuankun Zhu,Bing Dai,Hailing Yu,Pei Lei,Jiecai Han,Ying Hou,Jiaqi Zhu 대한금속·재료학회 2015 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.11 No.6

The preferentially oriented In2O3 thin films were prepared on glass substrates by conventional magnetron sputtering with Ar+ plasma exposure at room temperature. Based on the x-ray diffraction, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and UV photoelectron spectroscopy results, it was found that the Ar+ plasma exposure not only enhanced the low-temperature crystallization of In2O3 thin films, but also led to a dramatic improvement in the work function. Furthermore, it demonstrated that the shift mechanism of the work function in In2O3 thin films mainly combined with theelimination of oxygen defects and the change of the preferential orientation of In2O3 film surface.

        Large Second-Order Nonlinearity from a Dip-Coated Pure Dye (4-(2-(3,3-Dicyanomethylene-5,5-Dimethyl-1-Cyclohexylidene) Vinyl)Phenyl(1-Naphthyl)Phenylamine) Thin Film

        Pei Yang,Huiying Fu,Liying Liu,Liyong Ji,Lei Xu,Fei Xiao 한국물리학회 2006 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.49 No.5I

We found that the pure dye 4-(2-(3,3-dicyanomethylene-5,5-dimethyl-1-cyclohexylidene)vinyl) phenyl(1-naphthyl)phenylamine can form a solid-state thin film up to 31 nm in thickness by simple dip-coating. After electric poling, the molecular film was very well oriented along the poling field’s direction (ordering parameter = 0.36). The poled film gave a large resonant second-harmonic generation (SHG) signal ((2) = 591 pm/V when using 1064-nm laser light as the fundamental light) and non-resonant SHG ((2) = 232 pm/V when using 800-nm laser light as the fundamental light). The results show that such molecules can find applications in nonlinear photonic integrated circuits.

The USP21/YY1/SNHG16 axis contributes to tumor proliferation, migration, and invasion of non-small-cell lung cancer

        Pei Xu,Haibo Xiao,Qi Yang,Rui Hu,Lianyong Jiang,Rui Bi,Xueyan Jiang,Lei Wang,Ju Mei,Fangbao Ding,Jianbing Huang 생화학분자생물학회 2020 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.52 No.-

Deubiquitinases (DUBs) and noncoding RNAs have been the subjects of recent extensive studies regarding their roles in lung cancer, but the mechanisms involved are largely unknown. In our study, we used The Cancer Genome Atlas data set and bioinformatics analyses and identified USP21, a DUB, as a potential contributor to oncogenesis in nonsmall-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We further demonstrated that USP21 was highly expressed in NSCLCs. We then conducted a series of in vitro and in vivo assays to explore the effect of USP21 on NSCLC progression and the underlying mechanism involved. USP21 promoted NSCLC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion and in vivo tumor growth by stabilizing a well-known oncogene, Yin Yang-1 (YY1), via mediating its deubiquitination. Furthermore, YY1 transcriptionally regulates the expression of SNHG16. Moreover, StarBase bioinformatics analyses predicted that miR4500 targets SNHG16 and USP21. A series of in vitro experiments indicated that SNHG16 increased the expression of USP21 through miR-4500. In summary, the USP21/YY1/SNHG16 axis plays a role in promoting the progression of NSCLC. Therefore, the USP21/YY1/SNHG16/miR-4500 axis may be a potential therapeutic target in NSCLC treatment.

NOLD: A Neural-Network Optimized Low-Resolution Decoder for LDPC Codes

        Lei Chu,Huanyu He,Ling Pei,Robert C. Qiu 한국통신학회 2021 Journal of communications and networks Vol.23 No.3

The min-sum (MS) algorithm can decode Low-densityparity-check (LDPC) codes with low computational complexity atthe cost of slight performance loss. It is an effective way to realizehardware implementation of the min-sum decoder by quantizingthe floating belief messages (i.e., check-to-variable messages andvariable-to-check messages) into low-resolution (i.e., 2–4 bits) ver sions. However, such a way can lead to severe performance degra dation due to the finite precision effect. In this paper, we proposea neural-network optimized low-resolution decoding (NOLD) al gorithm for LDPC codes to deal with the problem. Specifically, the optimization of decoding parameters (i.e., scaling factors andquantization step) is achieved in a hybrid way, in which we con catenate a NOLD decoder with a customized neural network. Alllearnable parameters associated with the decoding parameters areassigned to each neuron in the proposed method. What’s more, wedesign a new activation function whose outputs are close to the em ployed quantizer ones when network parameters are finally opti mized off-line. Finally, the performance of the proposed method isverified by numerous experiments. For the case of 2-bit decoding, the proposed approach significantly outperforms several conven tional decoders at the expense of slightly increased off-line trainingtime. Besides, the proposed method with 4-bit quantization incursonly 0.1 dB performance loss compared with the floating min-sumdecoder at the coded bit-error-rate of 10−5. Moreover, we showthat the proposed NOLD decoder works over a wide range of chan nel conditions for regular and irregular LDPC codes. Simulationcode for reproductive results is publicly available1.

Surface Parameter Measurement of Braided Composite Preform Based on Faster R-CNN

        Zhitao Xiao,Lei Pei,Lei Geng,Ying Sun,Fang Zhang,Jun Wu 한국섬유공학회 2020 Fibers and polymers Vol.21 No.3

Pitch length and surface braiding angle are two important parameters of braided composite preforms. In this paper,a method based on Faster R-CNN is proposed to measure the two parameters. First, after image acquisition, a fabric imagedatabase including initial cropped images, augmented images, and target images is established. Then, the target images areclassified into four categories according to the gray change characteristics. Third, a Faster R-CNN fabric detection model istrained on the fabric image database. Fourth, targets are detected by the trained network, and corners are detected based onthe detected targets. Finally, pitch lengths and surface braiding angles are measured based on the detected corners. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves the automatic measurement of pitch lengths and surfacebraiding angles of 2D and 3D braided composite preforms with high accuracy.

      • Applicative Value of Serum CA19-9, CEA, CA125 and CA242 in Diagnosis and Prognosis for Patients with Pancreatic Cancer Treated by Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy

        Gu, Yu-Lei,Lan, Chao,Pei, Hui,Yang, Shuang-Ning,Liu, Yan-Fen,Xiao, Li-Li Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.15

Objective: To evaluate the application value of serum CA19-9, CEA, CA125 and CA242 in diagnosis and prognosis of pancreatic cancer cases treated with concurrent chemotherapy. Materials and Methods: 52 patients with pancreatic cancer, 40 with benign pancreatic diseases and 40 healthy people were selected. The electrochemiluminescence immunoassay method was used for detecting levels of CA19-9, CEA and CA125, and a CanAg CA242 enzyme linked immunoassay kit for assessing the level of CA242. The Kaplan-Meier method was used for analyzing the prognostic factors of patients with pancreatic cancer. The Cox proportional hazard model was applied for analyzing the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidential interval (CI) for survival time of patients with pancreatic cancer. Results: The levels of serum CA19-9, CEA, CA125 and CA242 in patients with pancreatic cancer were significantly higher than those in patients with benign pancreatic diseases and healthy people (P<0.001). The sensitivity of CA19-9 was the highest among these, followed by CA242, CA125 and CEA. The specificity of CA242 is the highest, followed by CA125, CEA and CA19-9. The sensitivity and specificity of joint detection of serum CA19-9, CEA, CA125and CA242 were 90.4% and 93.8%, obviously higher than single detection of those markers in diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. The median survival time of 52 patients with pancreatic cancer was 10 months (95% CI7.389~12.611).. Patients with the increasing level of serum CA19-9, CEA, CA125, CA242 had shorter survival times (P=0.047. 0.043, 0.0041, 0.029). COX regression analysis showed that CA19-9 was an independent prognostic factor for patients with pancreatic cancer (P=0.001, 95%CI 2.591~38.243). Conclusions: The detection of serum tumor markers (CA19.9, CEA, CA125 and CA242) is conducive to the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and joint detection of tumor markers helps improve the diagnostic efficiency. Moreover, CA19-9 is an independent prognostic factor for patients with pancreatic cancer.

Seismic behaviors of ring beams joints of steel tube-reinforced concrete column structure

        Yingying Zhang,Jianing Pei,Yuan Huang,Ke Lei,Jie Song,Qilin Zhang 국제구조공학회 2018 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.27 No.4

This paper presents the seismic behaviors and restoring force model of ring beam joints of steel tube-reinforced concrete column structure under cyclic loading. First, the main failure mode, ultimate bearing capacity, stiffness degradation and energy dissipation capacity are studied. Then, the effects of concrete grade, steel grade, reinforcement ratio and radius-to-width ratios are discussed. Finally, the restoring force model is proposed. Results show that the ring beam joints of steel tube-reinforced concrete column structure performs good seismic performances. With concrete grade increasing, the ultimate bearing capacity and energy dissipation capacity increase, while the stiffness degradation rates increases slightly. When the radius-width ratio is 2, with reinforcement ratio increasing, the ultimate bearing capacity decreases. However, when the radius-to-width ratios are 3, with reinforcement ratio increasing, the ultimate bearing capacity increases. With radius-to-width ratios increasing, the ultimate bearing capacity decreases slightly and the stiffness degradation rate increases, but the energy dissipation capacity increases slightly.

EFFECTS OF ULTRASONIC RADIATION INTENSITY ON THE OXIDATION OF SINGLE-WALLED CARBON NANOTUBES IN A MIXTURE OF SULFURIC AND NITRIC ACIDS

        RUI HE,XIBO PEI,LANLAN PAN,LINGYANG TIAN,Feng Luo,LEI SUI,QIANBING WAN,JIAN WANG 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2013 NANO Vol.8 No.4

One of the most commonly used techniques for purification and eventual dispersion of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) is oxidation using strong acid and ultrasonication. Literature review reveals that ultrasonication of varying radiation intensities have been used during the acid oxidation, but few have reported whether ultrasonication of different intensities would have different effects on the structure and properties of SWNTs and how the effects are. An investigation of the effects of ultrasonic radiation intensity on SWNTs during oxidation in a mixture of sulfuric and nitric acids was conducted. Ultrasonication using different intensities (50 W, 100 W, 200 W and 300 W) was used. The acid-treated SWNTs were characterized by scanning and transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, zeta potential test Boehm titration test and Raman spectrum analysis. Data from these experiments showed that high intensities provided stronger oxidizing conditions than lower ones. As ultrasonic intensity increased, larger number of SWNTs were destroyed and consumed to produce carbonaceous impurities, and more defects appeared in the tube walls.

Probability Evaluation of Excess Voltage in a Distribution Network with Uneven Charging Electric Vehicle Load

        Chen Wei,Zhang Lei,Pei Xiping 대한전기학회 2022 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.17 No.1

Traditional deterministic power fl ow analysis does not take into account the randomness of the charging load due to electric vehicles. In order to accurately assess the impact of charging load on the voltage quality of a distribution network, we present a method of evaluating the probability of excessive voltage in a distribution network with an uneven charging electric vehicle load, based on Latin hypercube sampling. First, we establish a probability model of uneven charging load of an electric vehicle, and construct a sample matrix for the uneven charging scenario using Latin hypercube sampling. The dynamic probability distribution of the voltage across the nodes is obtained using a probabilistic power fl ow calculation and non-parametric kernel density estimation to realize a probability assessment of the voltage quality of the distribution network. Finally, a simulation analysis using an IEEE 30-node system shows that the proposed method is accurate and eff ective
