        In Vitro Antiviral Activity of Ribavirin Against Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus Myung Jin LEE1, Kye-Hyung KIM1, Jongyoun YI2, SuJin CHOI1, Chung-Jong KIM1, Nak- Hyun KIM1, Kyoung-Ho SONG1, Pyoeng Gyun CHOI1, Ji-Hwan BANG1, Wan Beom PARK1, Eu Suk KIM1, Sang-Won PARK1, Hong Bin KIM1, Nam Joong KIM1, Myoung- Don OH1 Seoul National University College of Medicine, Korea1, Pusan National University School of Medicine, Korea2 Background: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging infectious disease caused by a novel Bunyavirus, severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV). No effective antiviral therapy is proven yet, but clinical use of ribavirin (RBV) has been tried. We investigated the antiviral effect of RBV against SFTSV in vitro. Methods: To test for cytotoxicity of RBV, Vero cells were treated with different concentrations of RBV (3.90 to 500 μg/mL, two-fold dilution) and analyzed by cell viability MTS assay 48h post-infection. To determine antiviral activity of RBV against SFTSV, Vero cells were infected with SFTSV strain Gangwon/Korea/2012 at 100 TCID50 (50% tissue culture infective dose) per well in a 96-well plate, and RBV was added at the concentrations showing no or minimal cytotoxicity. Viral RNAs were extracted from the culture supernatants and quantifi ed using one-step real-time reverse transcription- PCR to amplify the partial large segment of SFTSV. Statistical analysis was done by one-way ANOVA with Tukey`s post hoc test. Results: Cytotoxicity due to RBV was not observed at RBV concentration =31.3 μg/ mL. Viral RNAs at 24h post-RBV treatment were reduced with increasing RBV concentrations (1-32 μg/mL), compared with those of mock-treated cells (P <0.01, Figure). Half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) of RBV was 3.69 μg/mL at 24h post-RBV treatment. Conclusions: Our study shows that RBV has antiviral effect against SFTSV in a dose-dependent manner. Further studies are required to evaluate the effi cacy of RBV in SFTS.

      • 자일리톨과 탄수화물의 Streptococcus mutans에 대한 효과

        Xylitol is a 5-carbons carbohydrate, which can be replacedwith sucrose for preventing caries. The replication of Streptococcus mutans and its formation of artificial plaque were studied in the media containing xylitol. The combined effect of xylitol and other carbohydrates on Streptococcus mutans wasalso studied. The replication of Streptococcus mutans was inhibited according to the increased concentration of xylitol.Streptococcus mutans replicated at the initial stage ofincubation in the media containing glucose. fructose of loctose, while replicating from the beginning of incubation in the media containing fructose as combining with xylitol. The formation of artificial plaque by Streptococcus mutans was significantly reduced in the media containing with xylitol and fructose. These results indicated that the replication of Streptococcus mutans was inhibited according to the increased concentration of xylitol, and the formation fo artificial plaque by Streptococcus mutans was significantly inhibited in the media containing xylitol and fructose.

        사무직 근로자들의 직무 스트레스와 피로

        목적: 이 연구는 전국 규모의 조사 연구에서 수집된 자료 중 사무직 근로자들을 대상으로,사회인구학적 특성,직업 특성,건강행태,직무 스트레스와 피로수준 간의 관련성을 분석하는 데 있다. 방법:‘한국인 직무스트레스 측정도구의 표준화 전국 조사연구National Study for Development and Standardization of Occupational Stress (NSDSOS Project: 2002∼2004)’를 위해 2002년 5월 1일부터 2003년 5윌 30일 까지 수행되었으며,전국의 사업장에 근무하는 근로자 30,146명(남자: 84%,여자: 16%) 중 사무직 근로자 4,457명(남자: 68.9%,여자 31.1%)을 연구 대상으로 하였다. 자료수집방법은 사업장을 방문하여 보건 및 안전관리자 등에게 연구의 취지를 알린 후 설문조사에 대한 협조를 구하고 응답자 직접 기입법을 이용 하였으며,사회인구학적 특성,직업적 특성,건강관련 요인,KOSS-SF를 이용한 7개의 직무 스트레스 요인,그리고 MFS를 이용하여 피로 수준에 영향을 주는 요인에 대해 분석하였다. 결과: 일반적 특성,작업관련 특성,건강행태관련 특성 및 직무 스트레스 요인이 근로자들의 피로와 강한 관련성이 있음이 입증되었으며,특히 직무 스트레스의 하부 요인 중에서도 피로와 관련성을 보이는 요인이 남녀별로 다소 상이 하게 관련된다는 것을 발견할 수 있었다. 남자의 경우는 직무 스트레스의 하부 영역 중 직무 요구도,직무 불안정성,보상부적절 등이 영향력이 높은 주요 직무 스트레스 요인이었던 반면,여자는 직무 요구도,보상부적절,직장문화가 주요한 직무 스트레스 요인이었다. 결론: 직장인 피로가 갖는 보건학적 의학적 경제학적 중요성을 감안할 때,조직의 생산성 향상과 근로자 개개인의 삶의 질 향상 및 건강증진을 위해선 직무 스트레스 관리 프로그램이 절실히 요청된다고 볼 수 있다. Background & Objectives: A growing body of research has documented that occupational stress is closely associated with increased risk of fatigue. This study was conducted in an effort to assess the relationship of occupational stress to self-perceived fatigue among Korean white collar employees. Methods: Data were obtained from the National Study for Development and Standardization of Occupational Stress (NSDSOS Project, 2002-2004). Among them, a total of 4,502 white collar employees were recruited. A structured questionnaire was employed to evaluate the participants' sociodemographics, job-related factors, health-related behaviors, occupational stress, and self-perceived fatigue. Occupational stress and self-perceived fatigue were assessed using the Korean Occupational Stress ScaleShort form (KOSS-SF) and the Multidimensional Fatigue Scale (MFS), respectively. Results: In logistic regression analyses, occupational stress was associated with an increased risk of fatigue, and some domains of occupational stress had different effects on fatigue by gender (job demand, job insecurity, and lack of reward for men, job demand, lack of reward, and discomfort in occupational climate for women), which indicates that occupational stress may perform a slightly different role in increasing the risk of fatigue by gender. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that occupational stress is a determinant predictor of self-perceived fatigue. Thus, a stress management program for the reduction of occupational stress, and the promotion of white collar worker's health and quality of life is strongly recommended. Some limitations of this study and considerations for future studies were also discussed.

      • 播種期 移動이 땅콩의 開花 및 結實習性에 미치는 影響

        This study was conducted to investigate the flowering and fruiting habit of peanut(Arachis hypogaea L) at different seeding time under polyethylene film mulching cultivation. Saedletangkong bred in Korea with Shinpung botanical type was seeded on April 20, April 30, May 20 and May 30 in 1992 at Yesan region. The results summarized as follows; Appearance of the first flower of peanut plants were delayed as the seeding time delayed, but the number of days from seeding to first flower were shortened as the seeding time delayed. Appearance of the first flower of peanut plants that seeded at April is observed at June 4, and the number of days from seeding to first flower was 44 days under polyethylene film mulching. Meanwhile it seeded at May 30, that was 34 days. Duration of flowering in peanut plant were shortened as the seeding time delayed. When peanut were seeded at April 20 and May 30, that was 77 days and 46 days, respectively. Date of last flower were almost constant at different seeding time. Approprite base temperature for GDD computation from seeding to first flower was appeared to be 2℃ under polyethylene film mulching. When peanut were seeded from April 20 to May 30, total number of flowers per plant were 360~375 and it did not show significant difference as the seeding time delayed. Meanwhile when peanut were seeded at May 30, that was reduced 21% in the case of April 20. Full-flowering stage were delayed as the seeding time delayed and duration of that were 20~25 days. When peanut were seeded at April 20 and May 30, maximum flowering stage were July 6~15 and July 21~30 that was 40 and 20 days after from appearance of first flower, respectively. During the maximum flowering stage, approximately 10 flowers per plant bloomed in thid period. The percentage of peg and pod formation to total flowers were 60.1~69.9% and 22.0~29.3% respectively, and the percentage of pod formation to the number of peg was 31.9~44.3%.

        The exhaustion of gasoline engine is related with constitution of mixture. so lean mixture which is for fuel economy should be completely burned as much as possible. But, in reality, lean mixture put down engine power. Accordingly, it is remains that lean mixture and engine performance are combined. In this study, variation of air-fuel ratio, combustion characteristics is measured. The effect of air-fuel ratio on combustion characteristics and engine power in gasoline engine is studied.

      • GPS와 IMU에 의한 구조물 변형 검색

        Such social structures as bridges, buildings, dams and towers have been transformed by their own load or fundamental ground. They have been behaved by other external causes. These regular or irregular behaviors threaten to do their users safety. Therefore, to monitor the load of the structures or reaction shown by them could help to verify their behaviors. RTK GPS allows the use of a static base station and remote rover unit to allow for data collection within several seconds and in real time. It is useful for monitoring the behaviors of massive structures like bridges. In this Study, Among GPS methods, we used RTK GPS to analyze the precision of monitoring and then on the basis of it, we developed a monitoring system using RTK GPS when measured the behavior of main tower of a suspension bridge by using RTK GPS. Comparing a deviation between observation values, X axis was 1mm, Y axis was 1mm and Z axis 2.2mm. It turned out that it was possible to monitor and measure structures by RTK GPS.

      • 면외변위의 정량적 계측을 위한 ESPI와 Shearography의 비교

        Electronic Speckle Pattern Interfrometry is a common method for measuring out-of-plane displacement and in-plane displacement and applied for vibration analysis and strain/stress analysis. However, ESPI is sensitive to environmental disturbance, which provide the limitation of industrial application. On the other hand, Shearography based on shearing interferometer can directly measure the first derivative of out-of-plane displacement, which is insensitive to vibration disturbance. This paper proposes the out-of-plane displacement extraction technique from results of Shearography by numerical processing and measurement results of ESPI and Shearoraphy are compared quantitatively.

        In recent years, as the demands of VBNS(Very high speed Backbone Network Service) and VDSL(Very high-data rate Digital Subscriber Line) increase, the development of kernel parts of optical communication such as PLC(Planar Light Circuit), Coupler, WDM elements increase. The alignment and the attachment technology are very important to fabricate the optical elements for communication. In this paper, the mechanism of rotational stage are studied. with the three different method and the results of them are applied to the design of the system. The performance test of resolution and travel is performed.

      • 초정밀 광소자 정렬 스테이지의 구동 특성에 관한 연구

        As the optical communication is introduced to the backbone network at first and becomes a general communication method of network, the demand of kernel parts of optical communication such as PLC(Planar Light Circuit), Coupler, and WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) element increases. The alignment and the attachment technology are very important in the fabrication of optical elements. In this paper, the driving mechanism of ultra precision stage is studied with the aim of optimal design of stage. The travel and the resolution of stage are investigated. The hysteresis of the stage is generated because of PZT actuator. The hysteresis and the inverse hysteresis are modeled in X, Y, and Z-axis motion. The input data of desired displacement to the stage according to input voltage is obtained from the inverse hysteresis equation. In the result of experiments with the input data, the errors due to hysteresis are well compensated.
