A tunable fused fiber coupler was developed based on the thermo-optic effect of the external medium surrounding the fused taped region of the coupler. The transmission characteristics of the fused fiber coupler were strongly dependent on the refractive index of the surrounding medium due to the evanescent field interaction. A polymer with a matched refractive index and high thermo-optic coefficient was used as the external medium and its refractive index was controlled thermo-optically by a Ni-Cr coil heater. The technology was applied to a fused fiber coupler for 1310nm/1550nm wavelength division multiplexing(WDM). The good thermo-optic effects of the polymer induced by the coil heater led to a 120 nm wide tunable wavelength range with an applied electrical power of 605 mW.

침입 탐지 시스템의 초점이 호스트와 운영체제 탐지에서 네트워크 탐지로 옮겨가고 있고 단순한 오용탐지 기법에서 이를 개선한 지능적인 비정상 행위 탐지 기법에 관한 연구들이 진행되고 있다. 이러한 연구들 중에는 네트워크 프로토콜의 트래픽 특성을 이용하여 비표준 포트의 사용이나 표준 포트에 대한 비표준 방법에 의한 침입을 탐지하고자 하는 노력도 있다. 본 연구에서는 실시간으로 패턴 매칭이 가능하고, 적응력이 뛰어난 신경망 알고리즘을 이용하여 네트워크 서비스들에 대한 트래픽을 수집, 특성에 따라 분석 · 클러스터링하고 그 결과를 바탕으로 보다 향상된 침입 탐지가 가능한 시스템을 제안한다.

캄보디아는 동남아 지역에서 매우 유명한 관광국가임과 동시에 심각한 물 문제를 가지고 있는 대표적 국가로 인식되고 있다. 공공위생의 관점에서 캄보디아의 물 문제는 대략 두가지 카테고리로 구분된다. 상당히 많은 수의 보고서들이 지표수와 지하수 문제에 대해 분원성 미생물과 비소 오염이 각각 가장 대표적인 문제인 것으로 보고하고 있다. 최근에 가정용 정수기 시스템으로서 생물-모래여과기, MF, RO 등 다양한 소재를 이용한 시스템들이 농촌지역에 보급/채택되었다. 그러나 BSF와 조합형 막여과 공정들은 신뢰하기 어려운 효율, 높은 멤브레인 교체비용과 유지관리의 문제점들로 인해 당초 기대에 미치지 못하는 기술로 인식되기 시작하였다. 금번 연구는 가정용 정수기로서 활용이 가능한 소형 세라믹 필터를 개발하기 위해 캄보디아 북서부의 점토와 황토를 이용하여 두 종류의 중력식 세라믹 필터를 만들었고, 이들에 대한 현지 적용성 여부를 평가하였다. Cambodia is a typical country that a very famous tourist destination in South Asian regions, but water has some serious problems. As a public hygiene point of view, water problems in Cambodia can be roughly classified into two categories. A numbers of the report revealed that thermotolerant coliform(TTC) bacteria and arsenic(As) pollution representative species as a representative pollutant for surface water and ground water problems, respectively. In recent years, home water purifier systems for various filter systems including BSF(Bio-Sand Filter), MF and RO have been spread and adopted in rural areas. However, BSF and composite membrane processes are recognized as an undesirable and representative method due to unreliable efficiency, high cost and maintenance issues. In order to develop a small-scale ceramic filter as a home water purifier, the applicability of two types of gravity ceramic filter using clay and red soil in the part of the Northwest was made and compared in this research.

Seat Belt Reminder (SBR) systems have proven to be highly effective increasing the belt wearing rates of a vehicle’s seat occupants. The availability of such SBR systems for vehicle is common in some markets and fast-growing, also thanks to NCAP incentives. In this paper, we provide the overview and performance test results of MOBIS thin film switch type 8-cell SBR sensor which has been currently developed in mass-production.
A Case of Synchronous Presentation of Primary Non-Small Cell Lung Carcinoma and Pheochromocytoma

We report a rare synchronous presentation of primary lung cancer and adrenal pheochromocytoma. A 59-year-old woman was diagnosed with right upper lobe non-small cell lung carcinoma measuring 2.8 cm and a right adrenal gland mass measuring 3.5 cm, which displayed increased metabolic activity on $^{18}F$-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography. The adrenal lesion was revealed to be asymptomatic. The patient underwent right adrenalectomy and histological examination revealed a pheochromocytoma. Ten days later, right upper lobectomy was performed for lung cancer. This case indicates that incidental adrenal lesions found in cases of resectable primary lung cancer should be investigated.
