A refractive mode technique was suggested for solving a refractive coefficient (n), with which refractive index of GFRP composites, balsa and epoxy. A method of wind turbine blade composites having one and two saw-cuts delaminations was utilized and scanned based on the E-field vector. The time of flight in T-ray using evaluating a T-ray time-domain spectroscopy with the wind turbine blade. Also, the difference of E-field influence was compared with that in the GFRP and CFRP composites.
Mercury distribution characteristics in primary manganese smelting plants

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The mercury (Hg) distribution characteristics were investigated in three primary manganese smelting plants in Korea for the assessment of anthropogenic Hg released. Input and output materials were sampled from each process, and Hg concentrations in the samples were analyzed. Among the input materials, the most mercury was found in the manganese ore (83.1–99.7%) and mercury was mainly released through fly ash or off gas, depending on the condition of off gas cleaning system. As off gas temperature decreases, proportion and concentration of emitted gaseous elemental mercury (Hg<SUP>0</SUP>) in off gas decreases. Based on mass balance study from these three plants and national manganese production data, the total amount of mercury released from those Korean plants was estimated to 644 kg/yr. About half of it was emitted into the air while the rest was released to waste as fly ash. With the results of this investigation, national inventory for Hg emission and release could be updated for the response to Minamata Convention on Mercury.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The mass balance study by on-site measurement from primary manganese smelting plants was made at first time in the world. </LI> <LI> Hg distribution and main input and release pathways of Hg from primary manganese smelting plants could be found as the first time. </LI> <LI> Gas temperature in bag filter affects Hg behavior and speciation changes in APCDs. </LI> <LI> National inventory of Hg emssion has been updated with new data. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>1. Characterization of Fiber Direction Influence in CFRP Composites Using Advanced NDE Techniques

A nondestructive technique would be very useful. Advanced NDE T-ray (terahertz ray) techniques of technology and instrumentation has provided a probing field on the electromagnetic spectrum. However, the T-ray is limited in order to penetrate a conducting material to some degree. Here, the T-ray would not go through easily the CFRP composite laminates since carbon fibers are electrically conducting while the epoxy matrix is not. So, investigation of terahertz time domain spectroscopy (THz TDS) was made and reflection and transmission configurations were studied for a 48-ply thermoplastic PPS(poly-phenylene sulfide)-based CFRP solid laminate. It is found that the electrical conductivity of CFRP composites depends on the direction of unidirectional fibers.

Penetration of outdoor particulate matter(PM) is caused by the air flow from outside through infiltration, natural ventilation and mechanical ventilation. Therefore, recent deterioration of air pollution can increase the possibility of penetration of outdoor PM indoors. In this study, indoor and outdoor size-resolved particle concentrations and the ratio under infiltration condition are analyzed to investigate the impact of particle size on the penetration and formation of indoor PM concentration. The particle number concentrations for PM0.3, 0.5, 1, 3, 5, 10㎛ were measured using optical particle counter(OPC) and ratio of indoor-to-outdoor(I/O) particle concentrations were calculated. Results suggested that outdoor PM could penetrate through outdoor airflow by infiltration and contribute to increase indoor PM concentrations. Calculated I/O ratio depended strongly on particle size. I/O ratio of small size particles (<0.5㎛) were around 1, and as the particle size increases, the I/O ratio tend to be decreased.

디지털 콘텐츠 산업은 전반적으로 이미 원 소스 멀티 유즈의 시대에 접어들고 있다. 원작 소설의 성공으로 영화로 재탄생되어지고 영화의 성공을 통하여 원작인 소설이 다시금 주목받는 경우가 생겨나며, 소설과 영화가 동시에 발표되기도 한다. 본 논문은 게르만신화의 서사구조를 중심으로 제작된 판타지 영화를 조셉캠밸(J.Campbell)의 영웅서사구조 12단계 분류를 적용하여 소설의 서사구조를 시각화한 영화장면을 비교분석하였다. 이를 통해 원작을 각색하여 시각화 하는 경우 원작의 스케일과 작가의 메시지가 시각적인 언어로 드러나는 과정에서의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이며 사전에 관객의 호응도를 단계별로 검토하여 적절한 시각적 기법(특수효과, 장면전화 등)을 적용하는데 활용되어질 수 있다.

Focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) of the liver is a lesion of unknown pathogenesis, and is characterized by a well circumscribed region of hyperplastic liver parenchyma containing stellate fibrous scar. FNH is a rare disease occumng predominantly in women of child bearing age. Often it is incidentally observed during imaging procedures performed for some other reasons. Surgical resection of FNH is seldom required because of the benign nature of the lesion and its lack of significant complication, A 37-year old man was referred to our hospital for the evaluation of hepatic mass en abdomonal ultrasoncgraphy. Abdominal ultrasonography showed lobulated, well-defined and isoechoic mass on right lobe of the liver. After various imaging procedures, segmentectomy (segment V, VI) was performed. Gross findings showed well-circumscribed, 13cm sized mass with fibrous septa and pathologic findings showed areas of localized growth of mature hepatocytes and septal fibrosis. These findings were consistent with the characteristics of FNH. We report a biopsy proven case of FNH which is unusually large and found in a male patient, with a review of the literatures.
