The purpose of this study was to develop a program for the enhancement of Korean married women's quality of life(LQ) based on the results of the first year study(1996) and the second year research(1998). In order to construct a program, a psycological type test was conducted to 505 women and four preliminary programs were carried out focusing on self-esteem, understanding of one's own personality dynamics, efficient communication, positive emotion, social belongingness and expressions of feelings of unfinished business. For the final program, Jung's theory of psychological type(MBTI), Satir's family therapy approach and psychodrama were applied. An experimental and a control group were designed consisting 16 women for each group. The program was carried out for 6 weeks for the experimental group. The result of treatment were as follows: l)There was a difference statistically in LQ related to family harmony, self-achievement and improvement of relationship with in-laws. 2)There was a statistical change in psychological factors of expression of feelings, self-esttem, communication, and positive emotions. 3) The program participants self reports indicate that the program was effective for the reconstruction of family relationship, self-understanding, group coherence, and instillation of hope. The reports also shows that the program was effective for the perceptual changes in parent-child, wife-husband and siblings' relationships. In conclusion, the program developed for the enhancement of Korean married women's life quality(LQ) based on the Jung's psychological type theory, Satir's family therapy approach and psychodrama was effective for the improvement of LQ.

<P>Conclusions: VSIG4 is overexpressed in ovarian cancers compared with that in benign tumors. This finding supports VSIG4 being used as a potential therapeutic target for ovarian cancer. Furthermore, soluble VSIG4 levels are associated with the progression and recurrence of ovarian cancer, indicating that soluble VSIG4 may be used as a potential biomarker for predicting tumor prognosis.</P>

Physiological disorder (calcium deficiency) of Kimchi cabbage occurred by high temperature and frequent precipitation, which leads to unexpected price fluctuations of commodities. This purpose of this study was to profile on soluble sugars, glucosinolates, and ABA catabolites contents of Kimchi cabbage leaves under extreme and moderate high temperature treatments and chitosan foliar application. At April 6, 2020, the ‘Chungwang’ Kimchi cabbage were transplanted into 625L plastic boxes filled with commercial and general soil at open-field in Wanju. Experiments were combined with three day/night temperature levels, 36/32°C (E; extreme high), 28/24°C (M; moderate high), and 20/16°C (C; control), and two chitosan foliar application (200g/L; and non chitosan foliar application). Temperature and chitosan foliar application were performed at 42 days after transplanting, and temperature treatments were maintained during 8 days in extreme weather growth simulators. The samples were collected in 4 and 8 days after commencing high temperature treatments. After 4 days of chitosan foliar application, the glucose and fructose contents of E treatment were 67.5 and 59.4 μg·g<SUP>-1</SUP>, respectively, which were higher than non application. In the chitosan foliar application treatment, the aliphatic (gluconapin and glucobrassicanapin) and indole (glucobrassicin, 4-methoxyglucobrassicin, and neoglucobrassicin) glucosinolate contents of E treatment were 151.1, 342.2, 533.1, 1627, and 1807 μg·g<SUP>-1</SUP>, respectively, which were greater than non application. The ABA, DPA, and PA contents of E treatment under chitosan foliar application were 0.0114, 1.7, and 1.0 μg·g<SUP>-1</SUP>, respectively, higher than non application. After 8 days of chitosan folir application, the gluconapin, glucobrassicin, 4-methoxyglucobrassicin, and DPA contents of E treatment were 332.0, 445.8, 2037, 2.4 μg·g<SUP>-1</SUP>, respectively, which were greater than non application. There were no effects of chitosan foliar application in M and C treatments. Results indicated that the effect of chitosan foliar application is estimated to be approximately 4 days after commencing high tempearture treatment. The application of chitosan foliar increased ABA catabolites that relieve abiotic stress, it is considered to be effective in alleviating the high temperature damage of Kimchi cabbage.
신기능 저하 환자에서 위막성 대장염 발생의 임상적 특징

목적: Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD)는 항생제 사용 후 장내세균 변화로 인해 C. difficile 독소 A에 의해 발생되는 위막성 대장염에 의한 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구는 대장내시경 후 조직검사를 통해 위막성 대장염으로 확진된 CDAD 환자에서 임상적 및 검사실적 소견의 분석을 통해 신기능의 저하가 CDAD 발생에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 1998년 1월부터 2006년 12월까지 원광대학교 의과대학 병원에서 2일 이상 묽은 변과 고열이 발생한 환자에서 CDAD가 의심되어 C. difficile 독소 A를 시행하고 대장내시경을 통해 조직학적으로 CDCA로 확진된 환자 56명을 대상으로 신기능 저하, 당뇨 및 악성종양의 유무를 조사하여 항생제 투여 기간에 따른 CDAD 발생 빈도를 비교하였다. 결과: 연구 기간 동안 CDAD가 의심되어 C. difficile 독소 A를 검사한 환자는 452명이었으며, 이중 양성 환자 416명 (92.03%), 음성 환자 36명 (7.96%)이었다. 452명 중 대장내시경을 시행한 환자는 92명 (20.7%)이었고, 이중 조직검사에서 위막성 대장염으로 진단된 환자는 56명 (60.8%)이었다. 조직 검사로 진단된 위막성 대장염 환자 56명 (남자 26명; 여자 30명)이었고, 이중 신기능 저하 환자 8명 (14.2%), 당뇨환자 10명 (17.8%), 악성종양 환자 13명 (23.2%)이었다. 또한 독소 A가 음성인 환자는 36명 (64.3%)었다. 조직검사로 확진된 신기능 저하 환자 8명 중 5명 (62.5%)은 C. difficile 독소 A 검사에서 음성으로 신기능 저하 유무에 따른 독소 반응의 차이는 없었다 (62.5% vs. 64.6%). 신기능이 저하된 환자에서 당뇨 2명 (25%), 악성종양 환자 1명 (12.5%)이었다. CDAD 발생까지의 항생제 투여 기간은 신기능이 정상인 환자 보다 신기능이 저하된 환자에서 짧았고 (23.44±3.28일 vs. 11.13±2.386일, p=0.034), 당뇨 및 악성 종양 유무에 따른 비교에서 (20.85±2.221일 vs. 25.50±13.07일; 23.30±3.67일 vs. 16.31±2.31일) 차이가 없었다. 결론: 면역력이 저하된 당뇨 및 악성종양 환자에 비해 신기능이 저하된 환자에서 CDAD 발생까지의 항생제 투여 일수가 적어 신기능 저하 상태에서 특히 항생제 투여에 주의가 필요하다. 또한 항생제 투여 후 발생된 설사 환자에서 C. difficile 독소 A가 음성이라 할지라도 환자가 대장내시경을 시행할 수 있는 상태인 경우 반드시 대장내시경과 조직검사를 시행하여 CDAD를 감별해야 할 것으로 생각한다. Purpose: Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD) is a potentially life-threatening illness which has been shown to be more common and more severe in patient with chronic renal failure. The aim of this study was to investigate clinical characteristics of renal insufficiency patients with clostridium difficile-associated pseudomembranous colitis. Methods: We reviewed charts of fifty-six patients with clostridium difficile-associated pseudomembranous colitis, who have clostridial toxin A assay in stool and a diagnosis made on histology of colonic biopsies. Results: There was no difference in age, serum albumin, C-reactive protein (CRP) and negative incidence of clostridial toxin A between patients who had renal insufficiency with serum creatinine more than 1.5 mg/dL and those who did not. But duration of antibiotic use administered prior to development of the clostridium difficile infection was more shorter in patients with impaired renal function than in patients with normal renal function. Conclusion: These data suggest that it may take a short period to development of the clostridium difficile infection in patients with impaired renal function, and histologic evaluation by sigmoidoscopy should be performed to make a diagnosis in CDAD-suggested patients, who have impaired renal function and even negative clostridial toxin A.
Biomolecule based fiber supercapacitor for implantable device

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>With the growing demand for electronic medical devices for healthcare applications, we studied an implantable supercapacitor that can operate in an implantable electronic device. Here, we report a flexible implantable fiber supercapacitor for an in vivo energy storage device. The fiber supercapacitor has a high flexibility and a high potential to be applied in an implant device because the fiber can be implanted in the blood vessel and the wound can be stitched with the fiber-like suture. The fiber electrodes were fabricated in a biscrolling process that trapped poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS)/ferritin nanoclusters within multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWNT) sheets that provide mechanical strength and electrical conductivity. In addition, the supercapacitor is biocompatible because the MWNT sheets are coated with biocompatible materials such as PEDOT:PSS and ferritin. The areal capacitance of the PEDOT:PSS/ferritin/MWNT fiber supercapacitor was 32.9 mF/cm<SUP>2</SUP> in a phosphate buffered saline solution, and the areal energy density was 0.82 μWh/cm<SUP>2</SUP>; these values are 52 times higher than that of the guest-free MWNT yarn. The supercapacitor operated well in a mouse and exhibited excellent biocompatibility; the capacitance was maintained above 90% in the mouse after eight days.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Abdominal muscle of the mouse was stitched with the micro-diameter fiber supercapacitor like suture. </LI> <LI> The flexible fiber supercapacitor performance was maintained above 90% in the mouse after eight days. </LI> <LI> The PEDOT:PSS/ferritin nanocluster was enhancing the areal capacitance by the synergistic effect. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>The fiber supercapacitor has a high flexibility and a high potential to be applied in an implant device because the fiber can be implanted in the blood vessel and the wound can be stitched with the fiber-like suture.
