A 10 years old, intact male, Maltese dog with clinical signs of labored respiration, exercise intolerance and increasing of coughing was referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University. Physical examination revealed tachycardia, panting and mild cyanosis. This case was diagnosed as mitral valve insufficiency by clinical signs, ascultation, blood chemistry, radiography and electrocardiography. This dog was treated with ACE inhibitor (enalapril), diuretics (furosemide) and bronchodilator (aminophylline) for 14 days. After treatment, clnical signs were disappeared and also this dog was needed to be continuous monitoring and sodium restricted diet.
Improvement of Intermittent Advancing Accuracy of Pneumatic Cylinder-Driven Roll Feeder
So, Jung Duck The Korean Society of Manufacturing Technology Eng 2016 한국생산제조학회지 Vol.25 No.3
A proposed pneumatic cylinder-driven roll feeder and an air press were designed to be operated automatically by a PLC. The accuracy of the intermittent feed pitch of the roll feeder was evaluated by measuring lengths of cut-offs of a strip stock by a digimatic vernier caliper. At each predetermined feed pitch, the proposed roll feeder was tested 100 times by varying the feed/cut intervals as 2.0/1.5, 3.0/2.0, and 3.5/2.5 s as test sets. The lengths of the cutoffs of the strip stock ranged from 9.89-10.34, 12.1-12.65, and 15.21-15.67 mm at the predetermined 10, 12, and 15 mm feed pitch, respectively, among the total of 300 samples in each feed pitch, regardless of the feed/shear interval. Therefore, the feed/cut interval at each selected feed pitch was found to have no effect on the accuracy of the intermittent advancing of the strip stock.

The incidence rate for scarlet fever in South Korea is rising. During 2008–2015, we collected group A Streptococcus isolates and performed emm and exotoxin genotyping and disk-diffusion antimicrobial tests. Scarlet fever in South Korea was most closely associated with emm types emm4, emm28, emm1, and emm3. In 2015, tetracycline resistance started increasing.

Efficacy of hyaluronic acid film on perianal wound healing in a rat model

Purpose: Postoperative pain and delayed wound healing are the main complications following anal surgery associated with poor quality of life. Hyaluronic acid (HA) supports tissue regeneration and rapid wound healing by promoting cell proliferation and migration. We investigated the effects of HA on perianal wound healing in a rat model. Methods: Forty-eight 8-week-old Sprague-Dawley rats with perianal wounds created by biopsy punch were divided into 3 groups: simple dressing with gauze (control), dressing with topical HA film, and dressing with topical HA gel. HA agents were not reapplied postoperatively. Wound healing was evaluated by measuring the healed area, and histological analyses were randomly performed using hematoxylin and eosin and Masson trichrome staining. Results: Fewer mean days were required for complete wound healing in the HA film and HA gel groups than in the control group (11.6 vs. 11.9 vs. 13.8 days, respectively; P = 0.010). The healed area in the HA film group on day 11 was larger than that in the HA gel and control groups (80.2% vs. 61.9% vs. 53.2%, respectively; P < 0.001). Histologically, the HA film group showed accelerated reepithelialization, a rapid transition to lymphocyte-predominant inflammation, and increased fibroblastic proliferation and collagen deposition compared to the other groups. There was no treatment-related toxicity in the HA application groups. Conclusion: Topical application of HA film to perianal wounds improves the wound healing rate in a rat model. This finding suggests a potential benefit of HA film application in promoting wound healing after anal surgery in humans.
