Objectives : We report an interim result of conformal radiotherapy in a patient with early stage cancer at the base of the tongue, which developed in a previously irradiated area. Materials and Methods : A 64-year-old male patient was diagnosed with T4NOMO supraglottic cancer. He received 72Gy of radiation therapy from 21 November 1988 to 24 February 1989. He had local failure and underwent a salvage total laryngectomy on 28 August 1989. Subsequently, he did well. In early 1999, he suffered from throat pain. He had a 2.5cm ulcerative mass at the base of his tongue, in the area that had been irradiated previously. Biopsy showed squamous cell carcinoma. After workup, he was diagnosed with base of tongue cancer with T2NOMO. Surgery was not feasible because the morbidity was not acceptable. Since it was difficult to re-irradiate the area with a curable dose using conventional 2D radiation therapy with an acceptable morbidity, we decided to try conformal radiotherapy. We used 7 static beam ports with field sizes from 7×6.4 to 8×8㎠, using 6 and 10MV photons. The fractionation regimen was 1.8Gy, 5 times per week. He received 64.8Gy in 36 fractions from 9 April 1999 to 1 June 1999. Results : In the 21 months since radiotherapy, the patient has not experienced any acute or chronic complications, such as xerostomia. He experienced relief of pain shortly after the start of radiotherapy, showed a complete response, and is still doing well. Conclusion : Conformal radiotherapy can be used to treat cancer that develops within a previously irradiated field, with curative intent.

순비기나무 (Vitex rotundifolia L. f.) 삽수 종류 및 생장조정제 처리에 따른 발근율

Background : This study was conducted to developed the propagation method by cutting for mass cultivation of Vitex roundifolia. We were pitched the cutting two times and treated plant growth regulators to enhance the rooting percentage. Vitex roundifolia is live in beach sandy soil south of Hwanghae-Do and Gangwon-Do. Vitex roundifolia have been used to bath foam. It is good for aromatic plant. It has 0.8% essential oil content in leaf and flower. Major components of essential oil were alpha-Pinene, Sabinene, beta-Pinen, 1,8-cineole, d-Limone. Despite the superior usability, it had not yet been made by the artificial cultivation Methods and Results : We were pitched the cutting of a first-year branch on June 5, which was greenwood cutting and July 17, which was semi-hardwood cutting at Kwangseung-ri beach, Gochanggun, Jeonbuk. The length of cutting was 10cm. It had 3~4 nodes, we stuck a cutting remain 2 nodes above ground on ordinary raise seedling soil. Rooting percentage was measured at 60 days after stuck a cutting. Rooting percentage was higher greenwoody cutting(95%) than semi-hardwood cutting(57.6%). In green wood cutting, there was no significance with plant growth, but chemical injury was occurred in IBA 5,000ppm. In semi-hardwood cutting, there was significance with plant growth regulators. The rooting percentages of all the treat were higher than control(no treatment). Rooting percentage was the highest in NAA 5,000ppm treated. Conclusion : Greenwood cutting method was more proper to propagation for Vitex roundifolia than semi-hardwood cutting. The optimum time to cutting for Vitex roundifolia propagation was the early in June. If miss a time to propagation Rooting percent was elevated by plant growth regulator.

Locoregional recurrence is the most common type of recurrence in surgical operation of gastric adenocarcinoma, and peritoneal dissemination is one of the most difficult problems in advanced gastric adenocarcinoma treatment. Because the peritoneal cavity is the most common site of the first recurrence after gastric cancer resection, intraperitoneal chemotherapy seems a logical choice for cancer chemotherapy. In this study, Mitomycin C (MMC)-activated charcoal (CH)-alginate (ALG) beads were prepared by the mixtures of CH particles adsorbed with MMC as an anti-cancer drug and aqueous alginate solution. The alginate is recognized as biodegradable, nontoxic, and biocompatible. The release of MMC from the beads in 0.1 M Tris buffer was stable and continuous until about 1 week. The MMC-CH-ALG beads can be applied in the peritoneal cavity for intraperitoneal chemotherapy since they provide a good adhesiveness on the tissue and controlled release pattern of the drugs.
Winged bean의 品種 및 施肥水準別 營養成分 및 産草量에 關한 硏究

Two winged bean cultivars, KK 1 and TPT 8, were cultivated under different fertilizer levels, and the successive variation of major nutrients contents, fresh and dry matter weights of winged bean plants were observed to investigate the possibility of utilization of this introduced new crop as a green fodder. The results obtained could be summarized as follows: 1. Varietal differences of major nutrients contents, fresh and dry matter weight were not significant. 2. Crude protein and fiber contents of winged bean plant were higher in doubled fertilizer level. Crude protein and ash contents showed their maximum value at 60-day after flowering, crude fiber contents increased up to 70-day after flowering, and content of soluble nitrogen free extracts was highest at 40-days after flowering. Interaction effect between variety and fertilizer level was found in crude protein content. 3. Higher contents of fat and nitrogen free extracts were found in standard fartilizer level compared with those in doubled fertilizer level. 4. Fresh and dry weights of winged bean plant were more in doubled fertilizer level, and showed their maximum value at 80-day after flowerning. This means that optimum cutting stage of winged bean plant for green fodder is 80-day after flowering. 5. Maximum fresh weight of winged bean plant was 7.7 tons per hectare in a variety, KK 1, and 7.9 tons per hectare in an another variety, TPT 8. As a conclusion the introduced new crop, winged bean, can be utilized as green or ensliage forage crop.

傷寒論 第 28條는 病機의 分析과 主治처방의 構成에 대해서 歷代 傷寒論 注釋家와 現代 中醫學者間에 많은 논란이 있는 條文이다. 本 論文은 28條에 대하여 表邪의 有無와 主治處方의 錯簡說 등에 대한 歷代 注釋을 檢討하였다. 論者는 이러한 論難을 咳嗽하기 위한 方法으로 有關 處方에 대한 方後注文과 傷寒論의 條文 配列 順序의 意味에 根據하여 本條가 水飮內停證에 속하며 계지거계가복령백출탕이 本證의 主治處方임을 論證하였다. Many arguments on the interpretation of the 28th articles of Shanghanlun(傷寒論) which deals with the analysis of pathogenesis and the constitution of the chief prescription, have been made between the previous interpretators and moderm chinese medical scholars. In this paper I have examined the previous comments on the 28th article by focusing on the existence of Biaoxie(表邪) and the misunderstanding of the chief prescription Based upon the meanings of the annotated explanation about the related prescription and the article arrangement of Shanghanlun(傷寒論), my analysis shows that the 28th article belongs to the symptoms of Shuiyinneitingzheng(水飮內停證) and therefore Guizhiquguijiafulingbaizhutang(계지거계가복령백출탕) should be chief prescription for the symptoms.

Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma is a rare neoplasm that arises from the mesothelium of a serosal cavity and is a rapidly fatal disease with a median survival of 4 to 12 months for untreated cases. Recently, we experienced a case with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma who was suspected hepatocelluar carcioma by abdominal CT scan and was confirmed by biopsy including immunohistochemical stain(calretinin) after surgery. We performed tumor excisions and wedge resection of the liver(segment Ⅷ)and inserted Tencoff catheter in abdominal cavity at 25th day of post-operation. We treated with intraperitoneal paclitaxel(25mg/m^(2)/day for 5 days) six courses monthly. She was well tolerable and is still living without any evidence of recurrence for 14th month of post-operation.
Re-188이 표지된 황 교질(Sulfur Colloid)/리피오돌(Lipiodol)의 제조와 생체내 분포

목적: 리피오돌은 간암환자의 간동맥으로 투여시 암에 많이 섭취된다. 이 연구에서는 Re-188-황 교질/리피오돌을 제조하여 생체내분포를 보았다. 재료 및 방법: Re-188-황 교질/리피오돌을 마우스의 꼬리정맥으로 주사한후 1 시간 후에 생체내 분포를 확인하였다. 간암을 유발시킨 백서의 좌심실로 Re-188-황 교질/리피오돌을 주사하고 5 분후의 생체내 분포와 간의 자가방사사진을 보았다. 결과: Re-188-황 교질/리피오돌을 마우스의 꼬리정맥으로 주사한 후 1시간(n=3)섭취율(% ID/organ)은 간에서 5.2±0.7, 폐는 91.0±1.7이었다. 간암을 유발시킨 백서의 좌심실로 Re-188-황 교질/리피오돌을 주사한 후 5 분(n=4)의 정상간의 섭취율(% ID/g)은 0.41±0.28, 간암은 1.88±1.57, 폐는 1.65±1.54였으며, 자가방사사진에서도 간암부위의 섭취가 정상적인 간조직 보다 증가되었다. 결론: Re-188-황 교질/리피오돌을 동맥으로 투여시 간암부위의 섭취가 정상적인 간조직보다 많아 간암치료용 방사성의약품으로서 사용할 수 있음을 알았다. Lipiodol is used for targeting liver cancers by administrating through the hepatic artery. In the present study, feasibility of Re-188-sulfur colloid suspension in lipiodol as a liver cancer targeting agent was investigated. Materials and Methods: Re-188-sulfur colloid was prepared, harvested by centrifugation, washed with organic solvent and then suspended into lipiodol. Biodistribution of Re-188-sulfur colloid in normal saline and its suspension in lipiodol in mice after 1 hr of injection through the tail vein were investigated. Biodistribution and autoradiography of tumor-bearing liver was acquired after 5 min post-injection into left ventricle of the tumor-inoculated rats. Results: After 1 hr of injection with Re-188-sulfur colloid suspension in lipiodol through the tail vein in normal mice (n=3), the uptakes in the liver and lung were 5.2±0.7 and 91.0±1.7% ID/organ, respectively. After 5 min of injection with Re-188-sulfur colloid suspention in lipiodol through the left ventricle in the tumor-inoculated rats (n=4), uptakes in the normal liver, hepatoma, and lung were 0.41±0.28, 1.88±1.57, and 1.65±1.54% ID/organ, respectively. And autoradiography of hepatoma showed increased uptake than normal liver tissues. Conclusion: Re-188-sulfur colloid suspension in lipiodol injected through the artery shows higher uptake in the hepatoma than normal liver tissue that indicates the feasibility as a new radiopharmaceutical for therapy of hepatoma.

토끼 순막조건화에 관여하는 뇌간과 소뇌의 구조물들의 기능을 검토하고자 뇌간의 대표적 운동핵인 적핵과 소뇌의 심부핵 중 하나인 중간핵을 연구대상으로 선정하였다. 실험 1에서는 조건자극으로 400msec동안의 정현파 청각자극을 제시하고 무조건자극으로는 뇌간의 운동핵이며 순막반응의 출력핵이라고 알려진 적핵에 자극용 전극을 삽입하여 전기자극을 가함과 동시에 각막 공기분사를 복합적으로 제시하면서 전형적인 지연조건화를 시켰다. 그리고 소거시에는 조건자극과 함께 적핵전기자극만을 제시하였다. 이와함께 조건반응의 신경적 가소성 형성의 후보구조물로 알려진 중간핵에 기록용 전극을 삽입하여 조건화동안의 중간핵 뉴런들의 다단위 활동을 기록하였다. 실험 결과 적핵자극은 조건화의 습득과 소거에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 따라서 적핵은 순막조건화에서는 단순운동 출력핵임을 확인하였다. 그와 함께 소뇌 중간핵에서의 다단위활동의 기록은 이 핵이 조건반응이 형성되는 가소성구조물 또는 그 출력을 받는 구조물임을 입증해 주었다. 실험 2에서는 조건자극 및 무조건자극복합은 실험 1과 동일하게 하였다. 단지 소뇌 중간핵에 자극전극을 삽입하여 전기자극을 가하면서 조건화를 시킨 점만 다를 뿐이다. 결과를 보면 중간핵을 자극하면 순막조건화의 습득에서 유의미한 지체를 보였고 소거에서 유의미한 촉진을 보였다. 이는 중간핵이 조건반응의 형성 및 해제에 중요한 역할을 하는 구조물임을 시사하는 것이다. The red nucleus and the cerebellar interpositus nucleus were successively investigated in terms of multiple plastic structures mediating the classical conditioning of the rabbit's nictitating membrane response (NMR). In experiment 1, monopolar tungsten stimulating electrodes and low-impedance monopolar tungsten recording microelectrodes were chronically implanted into the red nucleus and the interpositus nucleus respectively. All animals were trained with delay conditioning paradigm. In order to investigate any involvment of the red nucleus in the conditioning of NMR, animals of the experimental group were trained with the tone conditioned stimulus (CS) (400msec, 1㎑, 85㏈, sine wave) and unconditioned stimulus (US) consisted of the electrical stimulation of the red nucleus (100msec, 400㎐, pulse width 0.1msec, 60~150㎂) and simultaneous corneal airpuff(100msec, 100g/㎠) in the five aquisition sessions. In two successive extinction sessions, the animals were trained with the tone CS and the electrical stimulation US of the red nucleus alone. Animals of the control group were trained with the tone CS and the corneal airpuff US in the same aquisition sessions and with the tone CS alone in the same extinction sessions. Results showed that the electrical stimulation US of the red nucleus neither facillitates the learning rate in the aquistion stage nor maintains the conditioned response(CR) in the extinction stage. It may be concluded that the red nucleus is a mere output structure and is not an essential one in the neural network mediating the conditioning of NMR. Multiple unit activity(MUA) recorded from the cerebellar interpositus nucleus was processed to 16msec-bin histogram and the NMR was averaged in each session. The averaged NMR was highly correlated with the histogram and the histogram of MUA preceded the averaged NMR. This supports the previous reports that the cerebellar interpositus nucleus may be the neural substrate of the conditioning of NMR. In experiment 2, stimulating electrodes and recording microelectrodes were chronically implanted into the cerebellar interpositus nucleus and the red nucleus respectively. All training methods were identical with the experiment 1, except for exchanging the stimulating target structure for the recording one. Results showed that the electrical stimulation US of the cerebellar interpositus nucleus severely retarded the aqusition of the CR. It is concluded that the cerebellar interpositus nucleus may be a structure of plasticity included in an essential neural network mediating the conditioning of NMR. Possible interpretations of the result, concerning the side effect of the electrical stimulation and the function of the inferior olive-cerebellar cortex-interpositus nucleus-inferior olive recurrent loop, are discussed.
Cu/ZnO 촉매에 의한 Acrylonitrile의 水化反應

Acrylamide was prepared by catalytic hydration of acrylonitrile. In the process of hydration of acrylonitrile, ethylene cyanohydrine was produced as a by-product. Cu/ZnO was used as the catalyst for the reaction. Cu/ZnO was prepared by reduction of Cu/ZnO with hydrogen flowing at 350℃. The reaction was carried out in the suspension of the pretreated catalyst. A simple batch reactor was used with reaction times of several hours at 70℃, 60℃, and 50℃. The results of this study are as follows: 1. The catalytic hydration of acrylonitrile is a pseudo first-order reaction. 2. The reaction products were acrylamide and ethylene cyanohydrin. The selectivity of ethylene cyanohydrin with the Cu/ZnO used in this experiment was higher than those with such catalysts as Cu, Cu/ZnO, Cu/MgO, and copper chromite which had been used by other workers. 3.
