        The purpose of this study was to investigate the isokinetic strengh in dance type of university students. For the purpose, the subjects were 18 female dancer(ballet 6, modern dance 6, Korean dance 6) in Sin Ra university and isokinetic strength test of 18 subjects were proceed at speed of the 60deg/sec, 120deg/sec, 250deg/sec by the Cybex 770+TMC system. 1. The peak torque of hamstring 1) In dominant limb, ballet was significantly higher than modern dance and Korean dance at speed 60deg/sec, 120deg/sec, 250deg/sec. 2) In nondominant limb, ballet was significantly higher than modern dance and Korean dance at speed 60deg/sec, 120deg/sec, 250deg/sec. 2. The peak torque of quardriceps 1) In dominant limb, there is no significant at speed difference of 60deg/sec, 120deg/sec, 250deg/sec. 2) In nondominant limb, there was no significant at speed difference of 60deg/sec, 120deg/sec, and ballet, modern dance is significantly higher than Korean dance at speed of 250deg/sec. 3. The peak torque %BW of hamstring and quadriceps. In hamstring: 1) In dominant limb, ballet was significantly higher than modern dance and Korean dance at speed 60deg/sec, 250deg/sec, and there was no significant at speed of 120deg/sec. 2) In nondominant limb, ballet was significantly higher than modern dance and Korean dance at speed 60deg/sec, and there was no significant at speed of 120deg/sec, 250deg/sec. In quadriceps: 1) In dominant limb, ballet was significantly higher than modern dance and Korean dance at speed 60deg/sec, ballet and modern dance are significantly higher than Korean dance at speed 120deg/sec, 250deg/sec. 2) In nondominant limb, ballet was significantly higher than modern dance and Korean dance at speed 60deg/sec, 120deg/sec, and there was no significant at speed of 250deg/sec.

      • The post-operative decline in serum AMH in patients with endometriosis

        To compare the pre- and post-operative serial changes of serum anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) levels for evaluating the impact of ovarian cystectomy in patients with endometriosis. A total of seventy five patients who were undergone ovarian cyst enucleation were prospectively included from April 2011 to May 2012 in a single center. The 59 patients had ovarian endometrioma (group A) and 16 patients (group B) had cystic teratoma or serous cystadenoma as control. We had taken AMH levels in a month before operation and in 1-2 months after operation. We analyzed pre- and post-operative serum AMH levels according to cyst pathology, bilaterality, severity of endometriosis, multiplicity, and use of GnRH agonist. Exclusion criteria was age ≥ 40yrs, irregular menstruation, previous ovarian surgery, and PCOS. This study was approved in our hospital IRB. The mean age and BMI was not significantly different in group A and B (30.5±4.3 vs. 28.5±5.7, yrs; 20.0±4.4 vs. 19.8±5.4, kg/m2). The mean cyst size was larger in group B (7.4± 3.1 vs. 4.9±1.8, cm, p=0.0001). The pre-operative mean AMH level didn`t show statistical significance (4.3±3.1 vs. 5.6±3.8, ng/ml) in group A and B. But, post-operative AMH levels was significantly lower in group A than in group B (2.8±1.8 vs. 4.9±4.0, ng/ml, p=0.004). In group A, pre- and postoperative AMH levels significantly was decreased (p=0.0001). The rate of decline between pre- and post-operative AMH (ng/ml) was 21.4% and 17.8% in group A and B. In group A, there was correlation in the rate of AMH decline with BMI(r=-0.332, p=0.01) and preoperative AMH levels (r=0.451, p=0.0001). But group A didn`t show any correlation with the age (r=-0.063), cyst size (r=-0.054), bilaterality (r=-0.072), cyst multiplicity (r=0.119), severity of endometriosis (r=0.04), and GnRH use(r=-0.076). The post-operative serum AMH levels in the patients with endometrioma could be worse than other cyst. It should be considered in the case of surgery.

        Isolation, Quality Evaluation, and Seasonal Changes of Bakkenolide B in Petasites japonicus by HPLC

        머위(Peatasites japonicus)의 잎으로부터 생리활성물질을 탐색하여 항천식 효과가 있는 물질로 알려진 bakenolide B를 순수분리하였으며, 1D-NMR, 2D-NMR 및 GC-MS spectrum 데이터를 이용하여 구조를 동정하였다. 머위의 잎, 엽병 및 근경 등의 채취시기별 bakkenolide B의 함량을 평가하기 위하여 HPLC 분석 방법을 확립하였다. Bakkenolide B의 민감도는 210 nm와 215 nm의 파장에서 254 nm, 235 nm 및 265 nm보다 높았으며, 분석을 위한 회귀 직선식은 y=7.841-6.262(파장 215 nm)로서 상관값(r<SUP>2</SUP>)이 0.999 이상으로서 유의성이 매우 높았다. 검출한계(LOD)는 1.05, 정량한계 (LOQ)는 3.38이었다. 회수율은 3종류의 농도값에 대하여 98.6에서 103.1%로서 매우 높았다. 이러한 결과들로 미루어 볼 때 머위에서 bakkenolide B의 함량은 HPLC 분석방법으로서 가능한 것으로 증명되었다. 따라서 식물체의 부위 즉 잎, 엽병 및 근경에서의 bakkenolide B의 함량을 측정한 결과, 잎에서 가장 높았고, 다음은 엽병이었으며, 근경에서 함량이 가장 낮았다. 3월 초부터 8월 초까지 1개월 간격으로 식물체의 부위별 bakkenolide B의 함량을 조사한 결과, 3월부터 8월까지 채취시기가 지연될수록 감소하는 경향이었다. 따라서 HPLC를 이용한 Petasites species의 bakkenolides 분석은 단순하고, 급속하게 분석할 수 있는 방법으로 확인되었다. The leaves of Peatasites japonicus are a traditional oriental medicine with diverse biological activities. A simple and specific analytical method for the quantitative determination of bakkenolide B constituents from methanolic extract of the leaves of P. japonicus was developed. Bakkenolide B was isolated from the leaves of P. japonicus, and its structure was elucidated based on 1D, 2D NMR, and GC-MS spectral data. A liquid chromatographic method was developed to evaluate the quality of P. japonicus through determination of major active compound, bakkenolide B. The wavelengths at 254 and 215 nm were chosen to determine bakkenolide B. The recovery of the method was in the range of 98.6 to 103.1%, and bakkenolide B showed good linearity (r<SUP>2</SUP>=0.999) within test ranges. The developed method was applied to the determination of bakkenolide B in the plant part and seasonal changes. The results showed that the content of bakkenolide B in the leaf was higher than in the petiole and rhizome. In this study, a simple, rapid, and reliable high-performance liquid chromatography method was used to determine the percentage and composition of bakkenolide B in P. japonicus procured from different Petasites species plants in South Korea. The method can be employed in routine quantitative analysis and quality control of different products in the market.

        Growth rate and quality in the young are importantly related to the general nealth and welfare of the individual. Infancy is the period of most rapid extrauterine growth. There are many factors influencing growth such as genetic, nutritional, socioeconomic and emotional factors and cultural consideration. Among these nutrition is the most fundamental factor to the optimal growth. In most of developing countries poor growth and malnutrition during weaning period are common because of the prolonged breast feeding and improper weaning without supplementary nutriants. We intended to see the effects of the eduction of the mothers and improvement of weaning diets. We selected infants registered in the Maternal Child Health center of Daegu City. Most of foster mothers of infants were relatively low in eductional level and poor socioeconomic state. The foster mothers were taught about well baby care and infants were examined monthly by a peditrician and nurse. We recommended rice, barley, soybean and fish powder mixture as the weaning diets and vitamin A.D and iron preparations were supplied by Maternal Child Health Center of Daegu City. Total number of infants in this study were 502 comprising 283 mals and 219 females under 12 months of age. for evaluation of their development body weight and length were measured monthly from birth through 12 months of age. We compared their growth pattern of the infants in Maternal Child Health Center with the Korean Children Growth Standard and Japanese Children Growth Standard. The following results were obtained. 1. Comparing their growth data by sex, in this study the males were superior to females in all measurements. 2. Comparing their growth data between breast milk and mixed fed infants in this study, there were no significant difference between them. 3. Comparing their body weight in this study with Korean Children Growth Standard, their weights were slightly superior to those of Korean Standard until 6 months in male (3 months in female) and after 6 months (3 months in female) much more superior to those of Korean Standard. Comparing with their body weight in this study Jepaness Children Growth Standard, these were no significcant difference between them. 4. comparing their body length in this study with Korean Children Growth Standard, their lengths were slightly superior to those of Korean Standard until 5 months in male (7 months in female) and after 5 months in female) significantly superior to those of Korean Standard. comparing their body length with Japanese Children Growthstandard, Sthere were no significant difference between them in both male and female. 5. We found we coud improved the specials low growth curve during weaning period from 6 months to 12 months of life. The conclusion from these results is that physical growth in infancy especially during weaning period could be improved by education of the foster mothers and improvement of weaning diets.

        Lipolysis Effect of Daucosterol Isolated from Mulberry (Morus alba) Leaves

        뽕나무는 약 40여 속과 1,000여 종이 있는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 항염증, 항진정, 지사작용, 노화억제 및 신경보호작용이 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 아시아 지역에서 전통 한약재로 사용되는 뽕 나무 잎의 지방분해 활성에 관여하고 있는 물질을 스크린하기 위하여 뽕잎 분말을 헥산, 에틸 아세테이트 및 메탄올로 순차 추출하였다. 뽕 잎의 EtOAc 추출물로부터 daucosterol이 순수분리 되었으며, 그 구조는 1H, 13C, DEPT, COSY, HSQC 및 HMBC 등의 NMR스펙트럼 분석에 의해 밝혀졌다. Daucosterol은 농도 의존적으로 지질분해 효과를 나타내었는데, 본 연구의 결과로부터 뽕나무 잎으로부터 순수분리한 daucosterol의 지분분해 활성은 다양한 질병을 치료하기 위한 천연물 소재 또는 지표성분으로서 활용이 가능할 것으로 생각된다. 그러나 보다 효율적으로 이용하기 위해서는 daucosterol의 비만에 관한 생리활성 기작에 대한 추가적인 연구가 필요할 것이다. Plants are reservoirs of naturally occurring chemical compounds and of structurally diverse bioactive molecules. The aim of this investigation was to screen for the presence of phytochemicals responsible for the lipolysis activity in mulberry (Morus alba) leaves, which are important in traditional Asian medicinal plants. Powdered mulberry leaves were extracted with hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol. Daucosterol was isolated from the EtOAc extract of mulberry leaves, and its structure was elucidated by NMR spectral analyses. The NMR assignments for the compound were determined using 1H, 13C, DEPT, COSY, HSQC, and HMBC NMR spectral data. Daucosterol showed a concentration-dependent lipolysis activity that may impart medicinal properties that can be exploited by medical practitioners for the treatment of various diseases. However, further studies should be conducted to elucidate additional mechanisms of daucosterol.
