This study was carried out to know the physicochemical properties and determine the measurement method of attached biomass in irregular shape granular (ISG) media molded with waste tire. The size of ISG media and specific surface area were Φ4-10㎜ and 0.00412㎡/g, respectively. The using of pretreatment agents as 0.8N CuSO_4-0.7N Sulfamic acid was proper to prevent self-oxidation of attached biomass on ISG media. The detaching method of attached biomass in ISG media was suitable for conducting ultrasonic and alkali treatment at the same time. The optimum alkali concentration and washing time were 0.125N NaOH and 120min, respectively. Finally, it was concluded that the result of this study could be establishing as a measurement method of attached biomass on ISG media molded with waste tire.

새로운 물질이 개발되어 신약으로 탄생하기까지 많은 시간과 노력, 예산이 필요하다. 최근, 우리 나라에서도, 신약캐발이 어릴고 힘든 분야이지만 새로운 신약개발을 총해 얻어지는 분가가치가 막대함을 인식, 연구에 박차를 가하 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는, 의약품 개발 선진국인 미국 FDA에서 발행하는 참고자료 중 항균제 임상편가에 대한 가이드라인 및 주요 임상적응증별 항균제 기발(지역사획회득성 폐렴, 원내감염성 계렴, 급성기관지염의 2차세균감염, 만성기지염의 급성세균성 악화, 연쇄구균에 의한 인두영 및 편도염 , 단순성 요로감염증, 복합성 요로감염증 및 신우신영, 급성 세균성 부비동옆, 항 바이러스제 개발시 전임상단계에서 고려사항, 항 바이러스제 허가와 된련 잉상적 고려사항, 카레타 괸련 혈류감염)에 있어서의 파이드라인 등의 자료를 소개함으로져, 향후 제약사의 항균제 신약개발 및 허가 신청된 의악품의 전임상차료 및 잉상시험자료의 검토 평가업무에 참고자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다. Changing or unclear interpretations of clinical trial data needed to demonstrate the effectiveness and safety of antimicrobial drug products have a times led to confusion and frustration on the part of both applicants and division of these drug products reviewers. The FDA published guidance on desing clinical protocols, implementing, and analyzing data from clinical trials for antimicrobial drug products has been presented and additional companion guidances introduced specific issues to individual infections. This document provides applicants and reviewers with minimal information appropriate for the clinical development of routine antimicrobial drug products and identifies issues common to many antimicrobial drug applications. The agency can use the kind of information to determine whether the antimicrobial drug product under study is safe and effective in the treatment of the specific infection studied.

An intelligent software system which can support efficiently and systematically machine tool design by utilizing design knowledge is described in this paper. The process of embodiment design of a machining center was modelled, represented by IDEFO, and embedded in the system. A hybrid type inference engine has been introduced so that the system can effectively deal with knowledge represented in diversified forms. The design system was developed on the basis of object-oriented programming, and has been coded into one software system which can be ported on Windows NT.

Purpose: To predict the presence of tractional retinal detachment (TRD) in eyes with dense vitreous hemorrhage (VH) and proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) by evaluating the status of posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) in fellow eyes using optical coherence tomography (OCT). Methods: A total of 44 eyes from 22 patients who underwent vitrectomy due to dense VH with PDR were enrolled. Using OCT, the PVD status in the fellow eye was divided into two groups (incomplete and complete PVD). The incomplete PVD group included eyes without PVD and eyes with partial PVD. B-scan ultrasonography was performed on eyes with dense VH to evaluate the presence of TRD. Both OCT and B-scan images were reviewed by four ophthalmologists (two novices and two experienced), and the interobserver agreement was evaluated. Results: There was a difference in the interobserver agreement regarding the presence of TRD in eyes with dense VH evaluated by B scan between novice and experienced ophthalmologists (novice, κ = 0.421 vs. experienced, κ = 0.814), although there was no difference between novice and experienced ophthalmologists in the interobserver agreement regarding the status of PVD in the fellow eye evaluated by OCT (novice, κ = 1.000 vs. experienced, κ = 1.000). All observed TRD during vitrectomy occurred in eyes with incomplete PVD in the fellow eye. Logistic regression analysis revealed a statistically significant relation between TRD and the age of the patient (odds ratio [OR], 0.874; p = 0.047), and between TRD and incomplete PVD in the fellow eye evaluated by OCT (OR, 13.904; p = 0.042). Conclusions: Evaluation of the PVD status in the fellow eye using OCT may be a useful predictor for detecting the presence of TRD in eyes with dense VH and PDR.
S-289 Ergonovine induced ventricular fibrillation in a patient with Brugada syndrome

Introduction:?The Brugada syndrome and vasospastic angina are one of the etiology of sudden cardiac death and the two disease entities can coincide. This report describes a case of ventricular fibrillation (VF) induced by intracoronary ergonovine injection in a patient with Brugada syndrome. Methods:?N/A Results:?A 32-year-old male patient was brought to the Emergency Department because of aborted sudden cardiac collapse and his initial rhythm showed VF. VF was restored to sinus rhythm after defibrillation and the patient was successfully resuscitated without neurologic sequelae. Past history was denial and the patient has no history of chest discomfort, palpitation or syncope before admission. There was no familial history of ischemic heart disease, arrhythmia, or sudden death. Cardiac enzyme including Troponin I and CK-MB was not elevated. Electrocardiogram (ECG) revealed sinus rhythm without ST elevation or J wave after stabilization. Echocardiography revealed no structural heart disease with normal left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF: 63 %). The patient underwent coronary angiography with provocation test to rule out coronary artery disease or vasospastic angina as the cause of sudden cardiac arrest. Coronary angiography revealed no significant stenosis at major epicardial coronary artery. After injection of 40 μg of ergonovine at right coronary artery, ECG showed dynamic ST segment change in right precordial leads with QRS widening and then VF was initiated. The patient was successfully resuscitated after cardiopulmonary resuscitation with a number of shocks from an external defibrillator. Flecainide challenging test was performed which revealed Brugada type I ECG and he was diagnosed as Brugada syndrome. He was decided to implant implantable cardioverter defibrillator.?Conclusions:?Brugada syndrome and vasospastic angina can coincide and ischemia might act additively with the substrate responsible for the Brugada syndrome to elevate the ST segment and precipitate VF. Comparison of characteristics in patients with both thyroid and breast cancer

Purpose: Clinicopathologic characteristics of patients with both thyroid and breast cancer during their lifetime were analyzed to investigate the association between the two malignancies according to the order of incidence. Methods: A total of 405 patients who underwent surgery for breast and thyroid cancer at Severance Hospital between 1995 and 2014 were retrospectively selected and classified into 3 groups according to the order of incidence of the two cancers: simultaneous cancer (S), thyroid cancer followed by breast cancer (TB), and breast cancer followed by thyroid cancer (BT). Univariate analysis was conducted to compare parameters. Results: S, TB, and BT groups were 166 (41.0%), 96 (23.7%), and 143 (35.3%) patients, respectively. In TB and BT groups, tumor size and surgical site for secondary cancer were smaller; therefore, adjuvant treatments were less frequently required for secondary cancer. ER positive rate was 77.1% in S, 75% in TB, and 63.7% in BT groups (P=0.027). The ratio of ER negative was higher in the group with BRAF mutation. Survival rate for index tumor was higher in order from TB, and BT, followed by S groups without statistical difference. Conclusion: It is difficult to find a significant difference according to the order of occurrence except by screening test, and more studies are needed in the future. Establishing an appropriate screening program is important in order to detect secondary breast or thyroid cancer after surgery for thyroid or breast cancer.
