화학요법에 의한 설암조직의 CD44의 변화

Despite enormous progress in current chemotherapeutic approaches for cancer, there is no advances of prognosis in malignant tumor of head and neck. Especially the prognosis in tongue cancer in which vessels are well developed is bad. Therefore, it is very important to distinguish the patient with infiltrating tumor and to find tumor marker which can play a key role in effective strategy for cancer treatment. Because there is little report about CD44 as prognostic marker in tongue cancer, this study was performed to investigate the alteration of CD44 expression in tumor specimens from eleven patients with tongue cancers before and after chemotherapy. In this study, CD44 was expressed strongly in spinous layer of specimen before chemotherapy and the expression of CD44 decreased significantly after chemotherapy, suggesting that the expression of CD44 is related with metastasis of tongue cancer. Taking above, the alteration of CD44 expression in tongue cancer tissue by chemotherapy suggests that CD44 are potentially expected to use in tongue cancer as prognostic factors.

극저준위 감마선 분광시스템의 백그라운드 저감화를 위한 중성자 차폐체 설계

극저준위 방사능측정시스템의 백그라운드에 영향을 주는 중성자를 차폐하기 위한 차폐체를 설계하였다. 중성자 차폐방법은 고 밀도 폴리에틸렌을 이용하여 고속중성자를 감속한 후 B4C를 이용하여 감속된 열중성자를 흡수하는 방법을 이용하였다. 몬테카를로 모사방법인 MCNP4B 코드를 이용하여 계산한 결과 고 밀도 폴리에틸렌의 두께가 10 cm 일 때 열중성자속이 최대가 되는 것으로 나타났으며 감속된 중성자의 흡수는 용제에 자연상태의 B4C 분말을 30 w% 섞을 경우 2 mm의 두께에서 94%의 중성자 흡수가 일어나는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 몬테카를로 모사를 통한 계산결과의 타당성 여부를 조사하기 위하여 중성자 차폐실험 장치를 제작하여 실험 결과와 비교하였으며, 비교 결과 실험값과 일치하는 것으로 나타났다 In order to shield the neutrons affecting the background of Low Level Gamma Ray Spectrometer, a neutron shielder was designed. The method used in this study for neutron shielding was the deceleration of fast neutrons by high density polyethylene(HDPE) and the absorption of those slowing-down neutrons by B4C. The calculation results of neutron interaction in HDPE using Monte Carlo simulation code MCNP4B showed that the thermal-neutron flux was maximum at 10 cm thickness of HDPE. The results also showed that 95% of the thermal neutrons were absorbed by 2 mm thickness of B4C absorber consisted of 30 w% B4C and 70 w% polymer. The results of the Monte Carlo calculation were in good agreement with the experimental value obtained by a neutron shielding apparatus designd for this purpose.

정신분열병과 N-Methyl-D-Aspartate 수용체 유전자와 연관된 VNTR 표지자인 D9S158 다형성의 연합

정신분열병과 NMDA 수용체와 연관된 D9S158 유전적 표지자와의 연관성을 알아보기 위해 75명의 정신분열병 환자군과 87명의 정상대조군을 대상으로 중합효소연쇄반응을 이용하여 연합연구를 시행하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. D9S158 유전좌위에는 모두 8개의 대립유전자가 있었고, 각 대립유전자는 cytosine-adenine염기가 반복되는 217염기쌍에서 233염기쌍의 형태였다. 먼저 정신분열병 환자와 정상대조군의 대립유전자의 빈도를 비교해 본 결과 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다(p〉.05). 환자군을 좀 더 동질적으로 만들기 위해 정신분열병의 가족력 유무, 음성 및 양성증상, 연성신경학적 징후, DSM-IV 임상아형에 따라 환자군을 나누어 대립유전자의 빈도를 비교해 본 결과, 특정 임상양상과 관련이 있는 대립유전자를 발견하지 못하였다. 결론적으로 본 연구에서는 D9S158 유전좌위와 정신분열병의 연관성을 입증하지 못하였으나 NMDA 수용체 유전자주위의 다른 표지자나 좀 더 유전적으로 동질한 환자군을 대상으로 한 추후연구가 필요할 것으로 생각된다. An association study with Korean schizophrenic patients(N=75) and normal controls(N=87) was performed to find the relationship between D9S158 polymorphism and schizophrenia using polymerase chain reaction. Eight different alleles of a dinucleotide polymorphism on D9S158 locus were observed in both group. When we compared the frequencies of alleles between schizophrenics and normal controls, there was no significant difference between two groups. To increase homogeneity of schizophrenic group, we divided schizophrenic group by clinical phenotypes such as family history, negative and positive symptoms(PANSS), soft neurologic signs(NES-K) and DSM-IV diagnostic subtypes. Then we compared the frequencies of alleles among subgroups of clinical phenotypes, and there were no significant differences between subgroups(p〉.05). Although our findings fail to provide an evidence of association between schizophrenia and D9S158 locus, further investigation of other loci that are linked to NMDA receptor gene may be needed in genetically homogeneous subgroups of schizophrenia.

정신분열증 환자의 출생과 계절과의 관계

In this study, to find out the seasonality of schizophrenic birth and to analyze the relationship between schizophrenic subgroups and their birth seasonality, we compared the monthly and seasonal birth distribution of 367 schizophrenic inpatients, admitted in the neuropsychiatric department of Maryknoll General Hospital from March 1982 to February 1987, to those of the general population as control group. And the monthly births of the subgroups classified according to the clinical subtype and course were also compared. The results of this study were as follows; 1) Comparing with the general population, the birth rates of schizophrenics were higher in November through March and the excess of birth rate during these months was 8.6%. In statistical analysis, there were significant excess of birth in January and significant deficit in June. And there were significant excess of birth in late autumn through early spring, especially in winter. The excess of winter birth rate was 4.6%. 2) In comparisions of the monthly births of each subgroups classified according to the clinical subtype and course (including 4 comparisions; paranoid type Vs. non-paranoid type, paranoid type plus schizoaffective Vs. the rest of the types, schizophrenia Vs. schizophreniform disorder, subchronic schizophrenia Vs. chronic schizophrenia), there were no statistically significant differences in any comparisions. Therefore we confirmed the seasonality of schizophrenic births that there was an excess of winter or spring births among schizophrenics but the hypothesis that seasonality of birth is associated with an increased risk for a subtype of schizophrenia was not supported.

배합사료의 공급체계에 대한 소비자의 의식조사

The survey was focused on understanding of livestock farmers for feed supply system. Questionnaire was given to 181 livestock farmers who raise Korean cattle and milking cow, swine, layer, broiler, and other livestock. The questionnaire was given by livestock that farmers were raising animals and distribution channels that farmers were purchasing feed. Questions were given as follow. Task of distribution channels, feed price, preferred feed seller, price-cutting, necessity of firms that sell feeds manufactured by various firms, how to cut distribution cost, sliding scale system for feed price, etc. A few rationalization plans for feed supply system were suggested from the results of the questionnaire.

주정중독의 생화학적 혈액학적 지표

This study was conducted to determine reliable biochemical and hematologic markers of the Korean alcoholics. A comprehensive set of laboratory information was acquired from 44 alcoholics,33 non-alcoholic liver disease patients and 36 social drinkers. Then the data of the alcoholics were compared to those of the other groups. The results were as follows ; 1) The mean values of gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase(GGT), mean corpuscuhar volume(MCV) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin(MCH) were above normal in the alcoholics, and significantly differentiated the alcoholics from the non-alcoholic liver disease patients. 2) The mean values of aspartate aminotransferase(SGOT), alanine aminotransferase(SGPT), lactate dehydrogenase(LDHl), GGT and MCV were above normal in the alcoholics, and significantly differentiated the alcoholics from the social drinkers. The mean value of red blood cell count(RBC) was below normal in the alcoholics, and significantly differentiated the alcoholics from the social drinkers. 3) Both GGT and MCV significantly differentiated the alcoholics from the social drinkers, and the alcoholics from the non-alcoholic liver disease patients as well. Therefore, it seems that GGT and MCV can serve as biochemical and hematologic markers of alcoholism, and improve diagnostic objectivity.

An internet shopping system is presented on which a manager can add, modify. delete computers and peripheral devices. and customers can choose and buy some products. The system gives customers a chance to choose the products once again by putting them in a cart. In this paper, not only a simple shopping mall but also the basic database for internet marketing are implemented well. For the purpose of implementing this marketing system, every components including customers' buying informations to be recorded in marketing database, the approach to customers. marketing strategy and methodology have been restored the information on potential customers as well as current one. The proposed method implements an item-based product sale system, and therefore it can provide an easier shopping service than the existing internet shopping malls.

갑상선 기능항진증에 수반된 조증 1례

The authors experienced a case of mania associated with hyperthyroidism at the Neuropsychiatric Dept. of Maryknoll General Hospital in May, 1982. We observed that this case met the criteria for secondary mania by Krauthammer and Klerman. Manic symptoms disappeared after propylthiouracil and neuroleptic treatment, but amnesia of the manic episode remainded until discharge. We thought that this condition was rare in Korea worth a case report together with an uptodate review of literature.
