A particle flow visualization, electrostatic charging measurement and separation of triboelectrically charged particles in the external electric field by a fluidized bed tribocharger are conducted for the removal of PVC particles from mixed waste plastics. The laboratory-scale triboelectrostatic separation system consists of the fluidized bed tribocharger, a separation chamber, a collection chamber and a controller. PVC and PET particles can be imparted negative and positive surface charges respectively due to the difference of triboelectric charging series between particles and particles in the fluidized bed tribocharger, and can be separated by passing them through an external electric field. To visualize these charged particles, He-Ne laser is used with cylindrical lenses to generate a sheet beam. In the charging measurement, the particle motion analysis system (PMAS), capable of determining particle velocity and diameter, is used to non-intrusively measure particle behavior in high strength electric field. The average charge-to-mass ratios of PVC and PET particles are -1.4 and 1.2 ??C/kg, respectively. The highly concentrated PVC (91.9%) can be recovered with a yield of about 96.1% from the mixture of PVC and PET materials for a single-stage processing. The triboelectrostatic separation system using the fluidized tribocharger shows the potential to be an effective method for removing PVC from mixed plastics for waste plastic trecycling.

Protothecosis is an unusual cutaneous soft tissue infection ca by the Prototheca, which is a genus of the unicelluar, achloric algae. We report a case of cutaneous protothecosis in a 66-year-old female, who showed erythematous, purulent patches and plaques with ulcerations on the right forearm for 2 months. Biopsy specimen revealed the characteristic thick-walled morulalike sporangia in the dermis. Prototheca wickerhamii was isolated in the culture and the biochemical study. Electron microscopic examination showed the thick-walled spores containing dark dense bodies and amyloplasts, After two months of oral itraconazole 200mg/day, skin lesions were improved. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the activities of the abdominal and neck flexor muscles of children with and without cerebral palsy (CP) while lifting the head in a supine position. Methods: The subjects were eight children with CP and eight children without the disease. The activities of the external abdominal oblique (EO), internal abdominal oblique (IO), rectus abdominis (RA), sternocleidomastoid (SCM), and RA/SCM muscles were collected by surface electromyography (EMG) when the children lifted their heads. A Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the activity of each muscle during the head-lifting exercise. Statistical significance was accepted at p<0.05. Results: The activities of the EO, IO, and RA, and RA/SCM muscles differed significantly between the children with and without CP, but there was no significant between-group difference in the activity of the SCM muscle. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the abdominal muscles are not employed as much in the activities of children with CP compared to those without the disease. Additionally, those with CP were more dependent on the neck flexor muscle during the head-lifting exercise in a supine position.

Recently, the emotional consumption has been a crucial factor in purchasing. The emotional consumption is that the consumer makes a choice heading toward satisfaction of five senses such as sighting, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling in buying auto-vehicles, mobiles, home appliances and so on. Particularly, the color stimulating human eye is significant valuable of its choice. Variation of color of metal alloys was investigated in this study by its morphology without using organic and inorganic surface coatings. We quantitatively analyzed the reflectivity according to the wavelength of Copper alloys and ΔE. We used copper alloys containing Sn, Zn and alloyed variously to 4%, 14% and 28%, respectively. And the relationship between color gradation of copper alloy and CIE 1976 Luv color chart was suggested in solid solution, intermetallic of Cu-Sn and Cu-Zn alloy in this study.

The aim of this study is to verify the effectiveness of modified constraint-induced movement therapy (mCIMT) on upper function and activities of daily living in people with subacute stroke patients. Methods: Eighteen participants, with subacute stroke that were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (n=9) or the control group(n=9). For subjects from the experimental group modified Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy was performed. exercise program, the patient trained in affected side upper extremity with restricted non-affected side for 1 hour and using in activity daily living for 4 hours for five times per week, during 4 weeks. For subjects from the control group, conventional upper extremity training was performed. Outcomes such as the box and block test (BBT), Fugl-Meyer motor function assessment (FMA), and modified Barthel index(MBI) were measured before and after training. Between-group and within-group comparisons were analyzed by using Independent t-test and Paired t-test respectively. Results: These finding suggest that experimental group was significant increase in BBT, FMA, MBI (p<.05). In comparison of two group, experimental group was high upper function and activity daily living than control group. Conclusion: This study showed experimental group can be used to improve upper function and activity daily living than control group. Thus it indicates that mCIMT will be more improved through the continued upper extremity exercise program.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlations between functional movement screen (FMS) and ankle dysfunctions in subjects with chronic ankle instability (CAI). Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study of 20 participants with CAI. The ankle dorsiflexion range of motion (ROM), Foot and Ankle Disability Index (FADI), center of pressure (COP) path length, and COP velocity for ankle dysfunction were measured in all the subjects. All the subjects underwent the FMS concerned with ankle functions consisted of deep squats, hurdle steps and in-line lunges. The Spearman rank-order correlation coefficient was used to determine relationship between the ankle ROM, FADI, COP and FMS. Results: The results of the deep squat and in-line lunge exercises revealed a significant correlation with the ankle dorsiflexion ROM, FADI, COP path length, and COP velocity. The hurdle step showed no correlation with the ankle dorsiflexion ROM and FADI but a significant relationship with the COP path length and COP velocity. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that relationship deep squat and in-line lunge and it is suggested that an assessment tool using ankle dorsiflexion ROM and ankle instability would be clinically effective.

A triboelectrostatic separation ststem using a fluidized-bed tribocharger for the removal of PVC material in the mixture of PVC/PET plastics was designed and evaluated as a function of tribocharger material, air flow rate, electric filed strength, and the mixing ratio of two-component mixed plastics. The test system consists of the fluidized-bed tribovharger, a separation chamber, a collection chamber and a controller. PVC and PET particles can be imparted negative and positive surface charges, respectively, due to the difference in the work function values of plastics suspended in the fluidized-bed tribocharger, and can be separated by passing them through an external electric field. Experimental results show that separation efficiency is strongly dependent on the tribocharger material, electric field strength and particles mixing ratio. In the optimum conditions of 150ℓ/m air flow rate and 2.6 kV/cm electric field strength, highly concentrated PVC (99.1%) can be recovered with a yield of more than 95% from the mixture of PVC and PET materials for a single stage of processing.
