Objective: The effect on fat infiltration (FI) of paraspinal muscles in degenerative lumbar spinal diseases has been demonstrated except for spinopelvic parameters. The present study is to identify the effect of spinopelvic parameters on FI of paraspinal muscle (PSM) and psoas major muscle (PMM) in patients with degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis. Methods: A single-center, retrospective cross-sectional study of 160 patients with degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis (DLS) and lumbar stenosis (LSS) who had lateral full-spine x-ray and lumbar spine magnetic resonance imaging was conducted. PSM and PMM FIs were defined as the ratio of fat to its muscle cross-sectional area. The FIs were compared among patients with different pelvic tilt (PT) and pelvic incidence (PI), respectively. Results: The PSM FI correlated significantly with pelvic parameters in DLS patients, but not in LSS patients. The PSM FI in pelvic retroversion (PT > 25°) was 0.54 ± 0.13, which was significantly higher in DLS patients than in normal pelvis (0.41 ± 0.14) and pelvic anteversion (PT < 5°) (0.34 ± 0.12). The PSM FI of DLS patients with large PI ( > 60°) was 0.50 ± 0.13, which was higher than those with small ( < 45°) and normal PI (0.37 ± 0.11 and 0.36 ± 0.13). However, the PSM FI of LSS patients didn’t change significantly with PT or PI. Moreover, the PMM FI was about 0.10–0.15, which was significantly lower than the PSM FI, and changed with PT and PI in a similar way of PSM FI with much less in magnitude. Conclusion: FI of the PSMs increased with greater pelvic retroversion or larger pelvic incidence in DLS patients, but not in LSS patients.

Jie Jia,Qiusi Lin,Jian Chen,Xingwei Wang 한국전자통신연구원 2013 ETRI Journal Vol.35 No.3
Due to limited spectrum resources and differences in link loads, network congestion is one of the key issues in cognitive radio wireless mesh networks. In this letter, a congestion avoidance model with power control, channel allocation, and routing under the signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio is presented. As a contribution, a nested optimization scheme combined with a genetic algorithm and linear programming solver is proposed. Extensive simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm.
Improved Redundant Picture Coding Using Polyphase Downsampling for H.264
Jie Jia,김해광,최해철,김재곤,Yilin Chang 한국전자통신연구원 2007 ETRI Journal Vol.29 No.1
This paper presents an improved redundant picture coding method that efficiently enhances the error resiliency of H.264. The proposed method applies polyphase downsampling to residual blocks obtained from inter prediction and selectively encodes the rearranged residual blocks in the redundant picture coding process. Moreover, a spatial-temporal sample construction method is developed for the redundant coded picture, which further improves the reconstructed picture quality in error prone environments. Simulations based on JM11.0 were run to verify the proposed method on different test sequences in various error prone environments with average packet loss rates of 3%, 5%, 10%, and 20%. Results of the simulations show that the presented method significantly improves the robustness of H.264 to packet loss by 1.6 dB PSNR on average over the conventional redundant picture coding method.
Comparison of Carcass and Meat Quality Traits among Three Rabbit Breeds
Jie Wang,Yuan Su,Mauricio A. Elzo,Xian-Bo Jia,Shi-Yi Chen,Song-Jia Lai 한국축산식품학회 2016 한국축산식품학회지 Vol.36 No.1
The objective of this study was to compare carcass composition and meat quality traits in the longissimus dorsi and biceps femoris muscles in the Hyla, Champagne and Tianfu Black rabbit breeds. Tianfu Black rabbits had the heaviest head, skin, thoracic viscera and commercial carcass percentage (p<0.05). In addition, Tianfu Black had the highest pH0 h value, followed by the Champagne and Hyla breeds (p<0.01) in the longissimus dorsi and biceps femoris muscles. Tianfu Black had a higher a* (0 h and 24 h) than the other two breeds in both longissimus dorsi and biceps femoris muscles (p<0.05). The Hyla, Champagne, and Tianfu Black breeds showed a similar pattern of differences for meat quality traits (pH, L*, a* and b*) measured in fresh meat (0 h) and meat stored for 24 h. Hyla had the highest IMF values of the three breeds (p<0.01). The lower intramuscular fat of Tianfu Black and Champagne rabbits gives them an advantage over Hyla rabbits among most consumers seeking lean rabbit meat.
A Predictive Block Based DC Offset for H.264/AVC Video Coding
JIA, Jie,YOON, Daeil,KIM, Hae Kwang The Institute of Electronics, Information and Comm 2010 IEICE transactions on fundamentals of electronics, Vol.93 No.5
<P>Video coding standard H.264/AVC employs transform coding to explore spatial correlation in inter picture prediction residue. This paper presents a block based DC offset to further explore the correlation in spatially neighboring blocks and provides H.264/AVC an enhanced coding efficiency performance. The proposed method applies DC offset to inter picture prediction residue, and encodes the offset compensated residual signal. The DC offset is derived from reconstructed residue in neighboring blocks. No additional bits are required for the DC offset representation. Simulation results report that the proposed method yields an average of 2.67% bit rate reduction for high resolution video over the H.264 baseline profile.</P>
An Improved Run_before Coding for H.264 CAVLC
JIA, Jie,YOON, Daeil,KIM, Hae Kwang The Institute of Electronics, Information and Comm 2010 IEICE transactions on fundamentals of electronics, Vol.93 No.2
<P>Context-based adaptive variable length coding (CAVLC) is an entropy coding scheme employed in H.264/AVC for transform coefficient compression. The CAVLC encodes levels of nonzero-valued coefficients. Then indicates their positions with run_before which is number of zeros preceding each nonzero coefficient in scan order. In H.264, the run_before is coded using lookup tables depending on number of zero-valued coefficients that have not been coded. This paper presents an improved run_before coding method which encodes run_before using tables taking both zero-valued and nonzero-valued coefficients into consideration. Simulation results report that the proposed method yields an average of 4.40% bit rate reduction for run_before coding over H.264 baseline profile with intra-only coding structure. It corresponds to 0.52% bit rate saving over total bit rate on average.</P>

Background: Osteosarcomas have many established risk factors, both genetic and environmental, but by themselves these explain only part of the total cancer incidence. Bisphenol A (BPA) is an environmental estrogen associated with risk of several kinds of tumour. The lysyl oxidase gene (LOX) may also contribute to risk of tumours including osteosarcomas. Here, we investigated possible interactions of BPA and a LOX polymorphism on the risk of osteosarcoma. Method: The present hospital-based case-control study included 106 cancer patients and 112 controls from a Chinese population. Internal burden of BPA exposure was assessed using high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS) method. Genotypes were determined using PCR-RFLP methods. Results: Compared with those in low BPA exposure group, subjects with BPA more than or equal to median value had significant increased risk of osteosarcoma among subjects who carried GC or CC genotypes. A significant interaction with BPA level and the -22G/C polymorphism was observed for osteosarcoma overall, osteosarcoma affecting knee and osteosarcoma affecting hip, as $P_{forinteraction}$ = 0.036 for osteosarcoma overall; $P_{forinteraction}$ = 0.024 for osteosarcoma affecting knee; and $P_{forinteraction}$ = 0.017 for osteosarcoma affecting hip. Conclusions: The results suggest that BPA exposure interacts with the -22G/C polymorphism of the LOX gene to increase the risk of osteosarcoma.

Transmission of video over Internet or wireless network requires coded stream capable of adapting to dynamic network conditions instantly. To meet this requirement, various scalable video coding schemes have been developed, among which the Scalable Video Coding (SVC) extension of the H.264/AVC is the most recent one. In comparison with the scalable profiles of previous video coding standards, the SVC achieves significant improvement on coding efficiency performance. For adapting to dynamic network bandwidth, the SVC employs inter-layer switching between different temporal, spatial or/and fidelity layers, which is currently supported with instantaneous decoding refresh (IDR) access unit. However, for real-time adaptability, the SVC has to frequently employ the IDR picture, which dramatically decreases the coding efficiency. Therefore, an extension of SP picture from the AVC to the SVC for an efficient inter-layer switching is investigated and presented in this paper. Simulations regarding the adaptability to dynamic network bandwidth are implemented. Results of experiment show that the SP picture added SVC provides an average 1.2 dB PSNR enhancement over the current SVC while providing similar adaptive functionality.
