Development of a Mobile Application, "Wild Flowers of Bukhansan National Park (version 1.0)", for Identification of Plants in Bukhansan National Park

We developed the educational purpose mobile application, named "Wild Flowers of Bukhansan National Park (version 1.0)", aiming for easy identification of wild flowers for students and visitors in the park. When visitors find a flower or part of plant in the park, visitors can search for its name utilizing the pictures and characters provided in their own smartphone mobile devices or tablet PCs. The application provides pictures of wild flowers in the park and character-based searching system based on 12 diagnostic features (e.g., growth form, leaf arrangement, flower symmetry, petal color, petal number, sepal number, etc). We adopted the complete floristic survey of Chung and Lee (1962) and added species that we confirmed their distribution in the park during the development of this application. In summary, number of vascular plants in this park was estimated to be 428 taxa including 100 families, 280 genera, 327 species, 1 subspecies, 50 varieties, and 5 formas. We provided a total of 588 pictures representing 358 taxa and each taxon includes multiple pictures in many cases. Included identification quizzes can be an efficient educational tool as well as fun activity for students and visitors who are learning plant species in Korea. Our next step will include GPS function in the application for indicating visitor's location and for providing previously reported sites of the species that we interested in the map of the park. The future application which includes GPS function will be a valuable tool for the monitoring of rare plants, plant researches related to the climate changes, etc. We currently provide Korean iPhone version only, and English version and both of android versions will be serviced soon.

Elevated TRAF2/6 expression in Parkinson's disease is caused by the loss of Parkin E3 ligase activity.

<P>Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second leading neurodegenerative disease, and is known to be induced by environmental factors or genetic mutations. Among the verified genetic mutations of PD, Parkin, isolated from the PARK2 locus, shows an autosomal recessive inheritance pattern and is known to be an E3 ligase. However, the physiological target of Parkin and the molecular mechanism of Parkin-deficiency-induced PD have not been clearly demonstrated until now. It has recently been proposed that inflammation, suggesting as a causal factor for PD, is enhanced by Parkin deficiency. Thus, we examined the relationship between inflammation-related factors and Parkin. Here, we provide the evidence that Parkin suppresses inflammation and cytokine-induced cell death by promoting the proteasomal degradation of TRAF2/6 (TNF-α receptor-associated factor 2/6). Overexpression of Parkin can reduce the half-lives of TRAF2 and TRAF6, whereas si-Parkin can extend them. However, mutant Parkins did not alter the expression of TRAF2/6. Thus, loss of Parkin enhances sensitivity to TNF-α- or IL-1β-induced JNK activation and NF-κB activation. Indeed, si-Parkin-induced apoptosis is suppressed by the knockdown of TRAF6 or TRAF2. We also observed elevated expression levels of TRAF6 and a reduction of IκB in an 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine-induced PD mouse model. Moreover, elevated expression levels or aggregation of TRAF6 were detected in approximately half of the human PD tissues (7/15 cases) and 2 cases, respectively. In addition, TRAF6 and Parkin expression levels show a reverse relationship in human PD tissues. Our results strongly suggest that the reduction of Parkin or overexpression of TRAF2/6 by chronic inflammation would be the reason for occurrence of PD.</P>

Prevention of medical malpractice and disputes through analysis of lawsuits related to coronary angiography and intervention

Background/Aims: Possible fatal complications arising from coronary angiography (CAG), percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and coronary artery disease itself, are likely to cause medical disputes. Presenting the current status and reasons for judgments given in lawsuits related to CAG/PCI, this study aimed to identify ways to prevent unnecessary disputes and medical malpractice suits related to CAG/PCI through lawsuit analysis. Methods: A total of 13 cases (20 judgments) found in the Supreme Court of Korea’s Written Judgment Management System from 1998 to 2017 were analyzed. Results: Coronary artery injury was the most common causative complication that led to lawsuits (n = 6, 46%). Six cases (46%) were ruled in favor of the plaintiff for violation of duty of care (n = 4) and duty of explanation (n = 2), respectively. Cases that violated duty of care included two errors in intra-procedure device manipulation, one in pre-procedure diagnosis, and one in management of post-procedure complication. Lack of explanation regarding the risk of complications was pointed out in both cases that violated duty of explanation. The average awarded amount for the damages was 114,436,064 Korean won. Conclusions: Physicians need not fear unfair judgments so long as they follow standard of care because the Court consistently looked at the probability, the foreseeability, and the evidence. Therefore, maintaining standard of care is important. Besides, specific, detailed, and comprehensible explanations, including the risk of complications in addition to the necessity of procedures, are important to ensure the patient clearly understands the possible risk of adverse outcomes.

Duodeno-colonic fistula is an enterocolonic fistula that occurs as a complication of Crohn`s disease. Symptoms of duodeno colonic fistula are similar to those of Crohn`s disease, such as weight loss and diarrhea. The treatment of choice is surgery, although medical treatment may also be considered. However, surgery is recommended when all available medical therapies have been ineffective. In this case, we report a secondary duodeno-colonic fistula due to Crohn`s disease that was temporarily managed by an endoscopic procedure with a detached endoloop and hemoclips as a bridging therapy to final surgical repair.

부산.경남지역의 일부 고등학교 교사들의 물리치료에 대한 인식도 조사

This study randomly chose 10 humanity high schools, which are located in Busan and KyoungNam province. We then examined the recognition rate of physical therapy among 378 teachers who were and still are working in the schools. 1. The recognition grade of physical therapeutics between men and women was significantly different with results of 80.7% of men and 69.7% of women(p<0.05). In the case of experiencing physical therapy, 83.6% of people said they knew the physical therapeutics and in the case of the opposite side, the result was also significantly different with a result of 67.8%(p<0.05). 2. We ranked the people on how much they knew about the physical therapeutics among men and women. With men, the actual experience of physical therapeutic came before what they heard from other people. In the case of women, what they heard from other people came first and the actual experience of physical therapeutic came after. According to the public information from Inje University, the recognition grade is recorded in the 3rd grade department as 21.5% while in the case of experiencing treatment from a physical therapist, the result was 39.1%. In the other department (the 1st grade department), what men and women heard from mass media was recorded at 17.5% and what they heard from other people, it was recorded at 33.8%(p<0.05). 3. The research about the recognition of academic ability of being a physical therapist was that 55.6% of teachers thought that 3-year-college was the best, which made the results different from the recognition grade of the experience of education(p<0.05). 4. In the recognition grade of physical therapeutics, there were significantly differences from 50.2% of men and 45.2% of women were expecting about 1mil ion won to 1.99million won. In case of 25.2% of people who have experience less than 15years at work, they expected about 2million to 2.99million won. The figures were higher than 10.1% of people who have experiences over 15years. About the recognition grade of physical therapists social level in the future is 48.8% of people who had experienced of physical therapy and 63.8% of people who never had experienced of it said it would be better in the future. From these results, the recognition about physical therapeutics and the view of its social status are optimistic and they know well about the level of academic ability of physical therapists. On the other hand, most teachers don't know exactly about physical therapists work. So we have to inform them aggressively for enhancing the recognition of physical therapy because high school students are well affected by their teachers when they face their future or major in university.

We experienced a 25 year-old male patient with typhoid fever complicated with massive hemoptysis. Pulmonary complication in typhoid fever is very rare and to our knowledge, there has been no report of hemoptysis as a main cause of death with this disease. We herein report a rare case of typhoid fever.

Primary retroperitoneal mucinous cystadenocarcinoma is a very rare malignancy, and little is known concerning its Pathogenesis, optimal treatment, and prognosis. A 29-year-o1d pregnant woman (21 weeks) Presented with abdominal discomfort CA 19-9, CA 125, and CEA were normal Abdominal CT scanning revealed a 19x15x13 cm retropentoneal tumor Exploratory laparotomy and tumor excision were performed. Mucinous retropentoneal implants were removed as completely as possible Histologically, the tumor showed focal areas of capsular invasion, but free resection margins The uterus and both ovaries were normal in appearance No adjuvant therapy was pursued. Six months later, Peritoneal and bilateral ovarian metastases were discovered. Hence, we report the details of this case of primary retroperitoneal mucinous Cystadeno-carcinoma and present a review of the literature.

치근단 미완성 치아의 자가치아이식

자가치아이식이란 자신의 치아를 구강 내의 한 위치에서 다른 발치와나 외과적으로 형성된 치조와로 이동시키는 술식이다. 통상적으로 이 술식은 상실되거나 보존하기 힘든 제1대구치를 다른 치아로 대체하거나, 매복된 견치를 악궁의 정상 위치로 이동시키거나, 전치부와 같이 심미적으로 중요한 부위의 상실된 치아를 소구치로 대체하는 경우에 많이 사용된다. 자가치아이식을 성공적으로 수행하기 위해서는 세심한 수술 기법과 더불어 적절한 증례 선택이 중요한데, 이식할 치아는 치근 발육이 1/2~3/4 정도 이루어진 미성숙 치아가 유리하고 근단공이 넓을수록 치수 재혈관화의 가능성도 높아져 이후의 근관 치료의 필요성도 줄일 수 있다. 본 증례들은 소아에서 치근단 미완성 치아의 자가치아이식을 통해 임상적, 방사선학적으로 양호한 치유 결과를 얻었고, 별도의 근관 치료 없이 양호한 치수 치유 결과를 보였기에 보고하는 바이다. Autogenous tooth transplantation can be defined as the surgical movement of a tooth from one position in the mouth to another in the same individual. The most common reasons for tooth transplantation include replacement of a missing first molar, transplantation of impacted canines to their normal positions in the arch, and transplantation of premolars in areas of missing teeth, especially in the anterior area of the mouth. The key to successful tooth transplantation is proper selection of graft with adequate root development as well as the design of surgical operation. Root development stage with half to three-quarter-developed roots increase the success rate of autotransplantation. We report the cases of successful autotransplantation which resulted in ideal healing of periodontal ligament, gingiva and alveolar bone. All transplanted teeth presented immature root formation at the moment of the procedure. After surgical procedure, we can observe good healing pattern without endodontic problem.

가상 물리실험실의 설계

This Virtual Physics Laboratory for high school students was designed using simulation. This simulation allows us more precise inspection, and cuts down Laboratory costs. The Simulation consist of five parts, that is Newton's laws, motion in gravitational space, friction, collision and rest-contact etc. Each simulation make use of dynamics for both flexible objects as well as solids to get natural motions. It is necessary to model Laboratory for realistic simulation before simulating. We make use of differential equation for realistic simulation, so it need much computing time, we have to model Laboratory simple. We need more efforts in the design of more realistic simulation in three dimensional space.

의료기관 모바일 홈페이지의 이용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구

Previous mobile communication structure and enterprise activity has been changed a lot in a short period with rapid growth of mobile internet market based on the sman acteristic of mobile service doesn't affect to the intention of use, only the accuracy mobile homepage in the future, it should develop contents for the users who have high immersion tendency and reinforce the aspect of accessibility in system quality. Key Words: medical mobile homepage, smart phone, system quality, Structural 54 phone development, only some enterprises which adapt to themselves successfully in this change of environment can survive in the infinite competition. According to this, I try to study for the factors affecting on intention of use of med ical mobile homepage which is one of those methods in this study. This study has purpose of deducting factors which affect on the intention of use in medical mobile homepage such as characteristic of users and service of mobiles and finding out the influence affecting on the intention of use through investigating the causal relation among perceived usefulness, perceived ease, those factors, with these research results. To achieve these research purpose, I have searched theoretical background of this study through related papers, set up the theoretical research model through logical inference relation mutually among components, after analyzing research model set up using SPSS 19.0, present the limitation and implication through the result of analysis on the factors affecting on the purpose of users in the medical mobile homepage. The impact factors were analyzed using the correlation analysis and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis. As a result of the empirical analysis, it shows that security and stability among char- acteristic of mobile service doesn't affect to the intention of use, only the accuracy affects to the perceived usefulness. Based on these result, when established a medical mobile homepage in the future, it should develop contents for the users who have high immersion tendency and reinforce the aspect of accessibility in system quality.
