Background Silica dioxide nanoparticles (SiONPs) have been used for various medical applications, including therapeutics and imaging, and the use of SiONPs has increased gradually over the years. However, despite an increase in the use of SiONPs, not much is known about mechanism of action of SiONPs and their pulmonary toxicity. Objective The present study investigated the pulmonary toxicity of SiONPs and explored the underlying mechanism of action, primarily focusing on thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP)/NOD-like receptor pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) in SiONPs-treated mice. We investigated the toxic effects of SiONPs in the lung of BALB/c mice administered 5, 10, and 20 mg/kg SiONPs for 3 days. Results Exposure to SiONPs markedly increased inflammatory cell counts, including those of neutrophils and macrophages, and levels of inflammatory mediators, such as interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor-α in a dose-dependent manner in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. Moreover, the inflammation was verified upon histopathological analysis. In addition, exposure to SiONPs increased the expression of TXNIP in a dose-dependent manner and, in turn, upregulated NLRP3 inflammasome proteins, which subsequently induced IL-1β production. Conclusion Collectively, exposure to SiONPs induced inflammation in the lungs of mice, which resulted in the activation of IL-1β production via the TXNIP-NLRP3 axis. Our results provide useful information on the pulmonary toxicity induced by SiONPs and provide insights into the underlying mechanism of action.

Body temperature is controlled by thermoregulatory center of the hypothalamus. We report a case of 24 years old man with central fever. He was subjected to a partial excision of pituitary tumor compressing optic chiasm four years ago. He has received hormonal therapy for panhypothyroidism after removal of pituitary tumor. And He received gamma knife operation for partially contrast-enhancing masses in suprasellar and both hypothalamic areas that is probably postoperatively remnant or recurrent tumor of pituitary adenoma. One year after gamma knife operation, he presented with a febrile syndrome of unknown origin including rhabdomyolysis. All usual investigations proved negative. We diagnosed him as central fever with rhabdomyolysis. He received medical ICU care with cooling bed, ice pack. And his symptom improved. Postoperative hyperthermia may result following resection of the pituitary tumor. When central fever is suspected taking note of past history, a quick recognition of course of fever can help reduce the using of unnecessary antibiotics and hospital stay.
제어 시스템 설계를 위한 IEC 1131-3 기반의 제어 로직 생성기의 개발

This paper describes the methodology of an IEC 1131-3-based control logic generator for the control system design and converting algorithm between programmable languages. The proposed control logic generator is generated based on the software model and common element with data type, variables, POUs(program organization unit) and execution control unit commonly used within programmable languages of IEC 1131-3 Standard. The generation method of object file was proposed on five programmable language based on IEC1131-3. The generation method of object file is represented as following; 1) the generation method using conversion algorithm from LD to IL with FBD(function block diagram), 2) the generation method using C code generation algorithm from SFC using the SFC execution sequence with FBD and ST(structured text). The proposed control logic generator was implemented by Visual C++ and MFC on MS-windows NT 4.0
有機溶劑染色에 의한 PET Filament 의 染色性과 物性變化에 관한 硏究

Poly(ethylene terephthalate) filament was dyed with C.I. Disperse Orange 3 in DMF, MCB, and PER dyebath at varying temperature in order to examine the dyeing properties related with the changes in the physical properties. The results of experiment were as follows; 1. Amount of dye uptake decreased in order of PER, MCB, and DMF, and diffusion coefficients of dye were increased according to increasing temperature, but amount of dye uptake were deacreased. 2. Shrinkage and degree of swelling in DMF which interacted with the aliphatic residue of PET were shown better than other solvents. 3. Dye exhausion rate increased the linear proportion with the change in the physical properties increased until the equilibrium dye uptake. 4. In isothermalic condition, degree of crystallinity was increased as time pass.

염분을 농도별로 첨가한 배지에서 유채와 무 0.2%때 발아율이 가장 높았다. 염분의 농도별 생장율을 조사한 결과 유채와 무에서 0.4%와 0.6%의 염분이 첨가 되었을 때 생장이 가장 좋았다. 3종 작물을 각기 다른 염분내성 단백질을 생산해내는 것으로 나타나서 유채는 35kD와 26kD의 단백질을 새로 생산해 내었으며 무는 40kD와 16kD 그리고 벼는 0.4%에는 30kD, 고농도에서는 20kD의 단백질을 생산했다. Germination rate of Brassica and Raphanus was observed highest rate at the 0.2% NaCl concentration. Growth rate of Brassica and Raphanus showed maximum value at the 0.4% and 0.6% respectively. Salt resistant protein was biosynthesized with different molecular weight; Brassica synthesized 35kD and 26kD protein, Raphanus with 40kD and 16kD and rice produced 320kD and 20kD protein at the 0.4% and over 0.6% concentration of NaCl respectively.

After knitted cotton fabric was finished silicone quaternary ammonium salt of antibacterial agent, effects of treatment by nonionic and anionic surface active agent and salt-methanol rinsing on antibacterial properties were investigated. When laundered with anionic surface active agent, cation of quaternary ammonium, antibacterial functional radical from the first laundry was compete masked with anion of surface active agent, and antibacterial properties was decreased extremely after ten times of laundry. But, as a result of milk test, the effect of antibacterial properties was known as positive comparing with unfinished fabric.
일제 식민지기 경성부 교외 지역의 전차 문제와 지역 운동 : 1932~33년 전차 교외선 폐지 반대 운동을 중심으로

The movement against the abolishment of the electric cars' outskirts line, which continued during 1932 and 1933, was a local movement originated from the outskirts area of the Gyeongseong-bu. This movement was based upon the dual structure of the Gyeongseong area and also the interests of the majority of the local residents, and continued for quite some time. The movement also involved, albeit partially, a nationalist agenda, and therefore was supported by the Joseon community as well. The movement proceeded in the most typical fashion we can observe from the Japanese occupation period. The issues were originated from the local resident leaders' meetings, then further discussed in conferences between representatives of Dong·Ri units, and then a movement community was organized to raise money and propagate their issues, and such efforts eventually resulted in the commencement of resident campaigns and submission of appeals. This movement was a rare success compared to other movements that were attempted under the colonial ruling. Although the movement featured one big flaw of having the colonial authorities involve themselves in the movement, the local movement itself was another opportunity of forming a public consensus nonetheless. And the concept suggested for the cause of the movement was 'public interest'. At the time, terms like 'public interest' or 'public matter' meant 'the interest of the majority', and in local movements, these terms meant the 'common interest of the loceil residents'. Electric cars were public assets that were usually used by all the members of local communities, so such assets always had the potential to generate a region-wide issue of common interest regardless of social classes or nationalities. In case of this electric car issue, 'safety and conveniences', 'protection of existing rights', 'local developments' were raised as reasons why such movement was necessary. And compared to this 'public interest' in the issue involving electric cars, the private(私) interest was known to be represented by a civilian company narned the Gyeongseong Electricity corporation. There was a social perceptive that civilian cornpanies in charge of public-natured businesses were required to serve public interests even such serving would limit the companies' pursuit of private interests or their excercise of property rights. The movement was led by local influentials, and also the collaborators of the colonial authorities. They maintained their cause of public interest while also holding onto their private profits, and the cause of 'local development' was what made that possible. This 'local development' cause was a social and economical basis which legitimatized the concept of collaborating with the colonial ruling, and the public's being assimilated into the occupation system.

This work was conducted to investigate the changes in cultivated crops during past 20years in central region of Korea. The results were summarized as follows; In 1960's, 91∼92% of arable land was planted for cereal food crops, 4.5∼5.5% for vegetables and 2.4∼4.3% for potatoes, respectively. In 1980's, however, the acreage of cereal food crops was decreased dramatically, on the contrally, the acreage of vegetables and industrial crops were increased considerably. The acreage of barley, wheat, millet, soybean, azuki bean and sweet potato were reduced greatly, whereas rice was increased everywhere, and such cash crops as white potato, sesame, tobacco, vegetables and fruit trees were increased at most of the area during past 20years.

Recently, many deep excavation have been practiced in constructing building or subways in urban areas to utilize more effectively underground space. In doing such underground excavations, information-oriented construction through the field measuring is getting more important not to give damages the next buildings and to practice in safety. The earth pressure, horizontal displacement, underground water table and so on are included in the item to make sure of safety through the field measuring. The empirical earth pressure come from the strut retention. But in recent days the two reasons have made the construction having been used through anchored retention why the width of earth retaining is so wide and here is a purpose to make use wider and wider the space of work. I come to make conclusions as follow to observe the safety of earth retaining structures with horizontal displacement and underground water table and to study lateral earth pressure of anchored retention earth retaining walls with load cells on the anchored retention sites.

In domestic research, standard penetration test and cone test have been used largely for the investigation of soft ground. But standard penetration test has been developed to apply to sand and its result is under the influence of experimenter's skill. The cone used so far has also experimental limitation in the point that penetration into stiff ground is difficult. Recently Piezocone is used world-wide for the investigation of soft ground. Piezocone makes it possible to get more acculate information upon ground because to add to the function of existing cone, it has that of measuring pore water pressure. In this thesis the result of this research is compared with that of laboratory test in the same area. In the result of study the coefficient of consolidation in the horizontal direction of investigation area is ?? and the mean of the cone factor is 15. There is little difference in the soil classification between by Piezocone test and by existing tests. If Piezocone is continuously studied, revised and amended to be suitable for domestic condition, more correct and pre cise research on soft ground will be possible.
