      • 고주파수대역에 적용되는 Fe-( BN, Si₃N₄)박막의 미세구조와 자기적특성에 관한 연구

        We have investigated the magnetic properties of FeBN thin films deposited by using RF magnetron sputtering and Fe-BN composite target. It was investigated that the area fraction of BN chips on the Fe target and partial pressure of nitrogen was the main factors influencing the soft magnetic properties and resistivity of FeBN thin film. The low addition of N₂increases significantly the soft magnetic properties and electrical resistivity. The good soft magnetic properties are obtained at N₂partial pressure of 5%, but futher increase in N₂ partial pressure degrade the soft magnetic properties due to formation of nitrides such as Fe₄N, Fe₂∼₃N. In a sputtering process, as the area fraction of BN increases, FeBN thin films fabricated at the area fraction of 0.25 exhibt soft magnetic properties (Bs∼17kG, Hc∼10e, μ∼1000).

        한국 정신장애의 역학 조사 연구[I] : 각 정신장애의 유병률

        Objectives : This study aims to estimate the prevalence of the DSM-IV psychiatric disorders in Korean population using the Korean version of Composite International Diagnostic Interview (K-CIDI). Methods : Subjects were selected by taking multi-stage, cluster samples of 7,867 adult household residents, 18 to 64 years of age, in ten catchment areas. Total 78 trained interviewers administered the K-CIDI to the selected respondents, from June 1 to November30,2001. Results : Total 6,275 respondents completed the interview. Some 33.5% of respondents reported at least one lifetime disorder, 20.6% reported at least one-year disorder, and 16.7% reported at least one-month disorder. The most common lifetime disorders were alcohol abuse/dependence (17.24%), nicotine dependence/withdrawal (11.19%), specific phobia (5.16%), and major de-pressive disorder (4.25%). The lifetime prevalence of substance abuse/dependence (0.25%) and schizophrenia (0.16%) was very low. Nicotine and alcohol use disorder showed very high male/female ratio. Mood disorder and anxiety disorder were more prevalent among female than male. Conclusion : The prevalence of psychiatric disorders was high. In comparison with other studies, remarkable differences in distributions of psychiatric disorders across the areas and times were observed.

        In this paper, we propose a novel virtual remote control system using 3D floating image array. This system consists of the 3D image generation system based on floating lens array and the interaction system using real-time finger pointing device. The proposed system can be used in effective human computer interaction method applied in realizing virtual system. To show the usefulness of the proposed system, we carry out the experiment and the results are presented.

        결핵성 경부 림프절염에서 수지상돌기세포의 침윤과 임상양상의 연관성

        연구배경 : 결핵성 경부 림프절염은 우리나라에서 폐결핵만큼 빈도가 높은 질환이다. 이 질병에서 수지 상돌기세포는 초기의 항원 제시역할을 하고 있다. 그러나 림프절염의 임상 양상과 관련된 항원제시세포의 역할은 아직 명확하게 밝혀져 있지 않은 상태이다. 경부 림프절의 수지상 돌기세포의 침윤과 임상양상과의 연관성을 알아보기 위해 본 연구를 시행하였다. 방법 : 환자들의 입원기록 및 방사선사진을 바탕으로 후향적으로 고찰하였다. 72례의 조직표본을 대상으로 항산균도말염색을 다시 시행하였고, 수지상돌기세포의 단클론항체로 S-100b를 이용하여 면역조직 화학염색을 시행한 후, 각각 결핵성 육아종안의 수지 상돌기세포의 수를 세어 비교분석하였다. 결과 : 결핵성 경부 림프절염이 있는 환자들의 30%가 폐결핵의 과거력이 있거나 현재 폐결핵을 앓고 있는 상태이었고 21%의 환자에서 항산균도말염색 양성을 보였다. 이들 한 육아종안에 침윤된 수지상돌기세포의 수는 평균 113.0±7.0개이었다. 육아종내 수지상돌기세포의 침윤수가 증가됨에 따라 발열과 기침의 빈도는 감소하였고 항산균도말염색상에서 결핵균의 수가 더 감소하는 결과를 보였으며, 다중로짓회귀분석을 보면, 수지상돌기세포의 침윤은 특징적으로 발열에 기여하여하는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 : 수지상돌기세포가 결핵성 경부 림프절염에서 발열과 기침 등의 전신증상을 줄이고, 결핵균의 침윤정도를 감소시키는 것으로 확인되었고, 이는 수지상돌기세포가 Mycobacterium tuberculosis의 감염을 조절하고 이와 함께 면역반응도 조절하여, 결핵성 경부 림프절염에서의 임상양상을 결정하는 것으로 생각된다. Background : Cervical tuberculous lymphadenopathy is a very common disease with a similar incidence to pulmonary tuberculosis. Dendritic cells play a role of initial antigen presentation of this illness. Nevertheless, the precise role of these antigen-presenting cells according to the clinical features in unclear. The aim of this study was to determine the clinical implication of dendritic cell infiltration in the cervical lymph nodes. Methods : A review of the clinical characteristics was carried out retrospectively based on the clinical records and radiography. Immunohistochemical staining was performed on the available histology specimens of 72 cases using the S-100b polyclonal antibody for dendritic cells. The number of dendritic cells with tuberculous granuloma were determined. A X2 test, unpaired T test and multiple logistic regression analysis were performed. Results : Thirty percent of subjects had previous or concurrent pulmonary TB. Twenty one percent of cases showed a positive reaction on the AFB stain. Within a granuloma, the number of infiltrated dendritic cells was 113.0±7.0. The incidence of fever and cough decreased with increasing infiltration of dendritic cells Multivariate regression analysis showed that the infiltration of dendritic cells could significantly contribute to fever. Conclusion : Overall, dendritic cells can control a Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection and modulate the immune response, as well as resolve the clinical manifestations of TB lymphadenopathy.         Protective Effects of Chlorella vulgaris on Liver Toxicity in Cadmium-Administered Rats

        The biochemical mechanisms of Chlorella vulgaris protection against cadmium (Cd)-induced liver toxicity were investigated in male Sprague-Dawley rats (5 weeks of age, weighing 90–110 g). Forty rats were randomly divided into one control and three groups treated with 10 ppm Cd: one Cd without Chlorella (Cd-0C), one Cd with 5% Chlorella (Cd-5C), and one Cd with 10% Chlorella (Cd-10C) groups. The rats had free access to water and diet for 8 weeks. Body weight gain and relative liver weight were significantly lower in the Cd-0C group than in Cd-5C and Cd-10C groups. Rats in the Cd-0C group had significantly higher hepatic concentrations of Cd and metallothioneins (MTs) than in the Cd-5C or Cd-10C group. The hepatic MT I/II mRNA was expressed in all experimental rats. MT II was more expressed in the Cd-5C and Cd-10C groups than in the Cd-0C group. Morphologically, a higher level of congestion and vacuolation was observed in the livers of the Cd-0C group compared to those of the Cd-5C and Cd-10C groups. Therefore, this study suggests that C. vulgaris has a protective effect against Cd-induced liver damage by reducing Cd accumulation and stimulating the expression of MT II in liver. However, the details of the mechanism of C. vulgaris on liver toxicity remains to be clarified by further studies.

      • Decurcin Ameliorates OVA-induced Airway Inflammation and Hyperresponsiveness via the Regulation of ER Stress

        Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, defined as accumulation of unfolded proteins in ER, has been vastly studied in inflammatory processes as one of crucial determinants of cellular response. Decursin, a natural product isolated from Angelica gigas, has been reported to have anti-inflammatory property. In this study, using both in vivo (OVA-inhaled mice) and in vitro (primary murine tracheal epithelial cells) experimental systems, the effects of decursin on OVA-induced airway inflammation and AHR were determined. Furthermore, we checked the levels of various ER stress markers. ER stress markers including glucose regulated protein78 (GRP78), CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein homologous protein (CHOP), activating transcription factor (ATF)-6, and X-box binding protein-1 (XBP-1) were markedly elevated in OVA-treated mice. Interestingly, treatment with decursin significantly reduced the increase of these ER stress markers. In addition, administration of decursin substantially reduced the number of inflammatory cells, AHR, and the increased levels of TH2 cytokines, TNF-α, and IL-1β in the lung of OVA-inhaled mice. We also found that decursin significantly prevented nuclear translocation of NF-kB p65 in lung tissues of OVA-treated mice. Moreover, administration of 4-phenyl butyric acid (4-PBA) which is one of potent ER stress inhibitors substantially inhibited OVA-induced asthmatic features as well as ER stress. These results indicate that decursin may attenuate antigen-induced airway inflammation and hyper-responsiveness, at least in part, through the modulation of ER stress.

      • Effect of Doxycycline on Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition <i>via</i> the p38/Smad Pathway in Respiratory Epithelial Cells

        <P>Purpose: Doxycycline has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, and it also suppresses collagen biosynthesis. This study aimed to confirm the effects and mechanism of doxycycline on transforming growth factor (TGF) beta 1 induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition and cell migration in A549 and primary nasal epithelial cells. Methods: A 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2yl)-2,5-diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide assay and phalloidin-fluorescein isothiocyanate staining were used to evaluate cytotoxicity and cellular morphologic changes. Western blot and immunofluorescence staining were used to determine the expression levels of E-cadherin, vimentin, alpha-smooth muscle actin, fibronectin, phosphorylated Smad2/3, and mitogen-activated protein kinases. Scratch and transwell migration assays were used to assess cellular migration ability. Results: Doxycycline (0-10 mu g/mL) had no significant cytotoxic effects in A549 and primary nasal epithelial cells. Increased expression of mesenchymal markers, including vimentin, alpha-smooth muscle actin, and fibronectin in TGF beta 1 induced A549 cells were downregulated by doxycycline treatment. In contrast, E-cadherin expression was upregulated in TGF beta 1 induced A549 cells. An in vitro cell migration assay showed that doxycycline also inhibited the ability of TGF beta 1 induced migration. Doxycycline treatment suppressed the activation of Smad2/3 and p38, whereas its inhibitory effects were similar to each element-specific inhibitor in A549 and primary nasal epithelial cells. Conclusion: Doxycycline inhibited TGF beta 1 induced epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition and migration by targeting Smad2/3 and p38 signal pathways in respiratory epithelial cells.</P>

      • The Design of Outage Management System Utilizing Meter Information Based on AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) System

        This The project, “Development of MDMS (Meter Data Management System) and SUN (Smart energy Utility Network)”, as one of the core technology development projects for electric power industry which is funded by Ministry of Knowledge Economy, stands for the establishment of AMI system. AMI system is a core infra system for the implementation of Smart Grid system, and is a main mechanism for the realization of Demand Response based on the bi-directional communication between demand and supply. AMI system is also an intelligent infra system having a high priority for operation of future Smart Grid such as information interaction among various distributed power systems and intelligent DMS. The establishment of AMI system suffers from problems due to a huge number of outage events and real time response for those events. These problems necessitate the efficient outage management system (OMS). OMS is one of the best methodologies to show the influence of AMI system efficiently and visually. This implies the reduction of the recovering time caused from outage by the reduction of outage recognition time and the improvement of outage data quality, and also means efficient provision of information created from the introduction of AMI system. For the future, OMS based on AMI system is necessary and this study makes a contribution to solution and technology of the system.

        쯔쯔가무시병 진단에서 Adenosine deaminase 유용성에 대한 연구

        The mainstay of diagnosing scrub typhus is through serologic testing. However, because of the delay of several days from the onset of the illness to the increase in the antibody titer, diagnosis can be difficult in the early stage of the illness. The aim of this study was to determine the clinical usefulness of adenosine deaminase activity (ADA) in diagnosing scrub typhus. A total of 104 patients were enrolled during the study period. Of these patients, 59 patients were diagnosed with scrub typhus and the mean serum ADA level was 46.7±11.6 U/L. High serum ADA levels strongly supported the diagnosis of scrub typhus, especially in patient without eschar. The remaining 44 patients did not have scrub typhus and 95% (42/44) of them had normal serum ADA levels. Therefore, evaluating serum ADA level could help diagnose patients with acute febrile disease such as scrub typhus, especially in its early stage of disease progression.

        고장분석은 전자 제품 또는 부품의 설계, 제조, 사용과정에서 항상 발생할 수 있는 문제점으로 분석을 통하여 고장 모드/메커니즘을 규명하고, 그 원인을 제거하는 일련의 과정으로서, 고장분석 절차는 육안검사, 전기적 특성검사, 비파괴 검사, 파괴검사로 구분되며, 분석 절차에 따라서 실제 필드 고장시료인 자동차용 조명부품에서 발생하는 고장품의 고장분석 후 고장모드 및 고장메커니즘을 규명 할 수 있었다. 그러므로 상기 방법에 따라 IT용 부품의 고장 분석에도 유용할 것으로 판단된다.
