• QUADRATIC ρ-FUNCTIONAL EQUATIONS IN β-HOMOGENEOUS NORMED SPACES

2019 Nonlinear Functional Analysis and Applications Vol.24 No.3

        In this paper, we solve the quadratic ρ-functional equations: f(x + y) + f(x − y) − 2f(x) − 2f(y) (1) = ρ(4f ((x + y)/2)+ f (x − y) − 2f(x) − 2f(y)), and 4f((x + y)/2)+ f (x − y) − 2f(x) − 2f(y) (2) = ρ(f(x + y) + f(x − y) − 2f(x) − 2f(y)), where ρ is a fixed complex number with ρ $not=$ 1. Using the direct method, we prove the Hyers-Ulam stability of the quadratic ρ-functional equations (1) and (2) in β-homogeneous complex Banach spaces.

      • Understanding the Effect of Goal Setting in IS Compliance Intention Through Stress Theory: The Moderating Effect of Stress Coping

Vol.2022 No.6

This study proposes a research model that empirically investigates the relationships between variables (the difficulty and specificity) in goal setting of information security(IS) policies and two variables (role ambiguity and role conflict) associated with employees’ IS related role stress, which then influences the compliance intention of IS. In addition, we examined the roles of coping style (task and emotion) as a moderator in the relationship between IS policy goals and IS role stress. We conducted a survey with employees in financial firms where IS policy and technology are strictly enforced in order to verify the research hypotheses. We performed structural equation modeling based on 266 samples. The results show that goal difficulty and goal specificity of IS policy decrease two types of employees’ IS related role stress, which has a negative impact on IS compliance intention. Moreover, the results show that an employee’s task coping has a moderating effect within the proposed relationship while emotion coping does not. The findings of the study suggest the importance of the conditions of an organization’s IS policy goal setting and the importance of making the effort to decrease an employee’s IS related stress in order to strengthen organizational compliance intention of IS.

      • Spatial expression of claudin family members in various organs of mice

        HWANG, INHO,YANG, HYUN,KANG, HONG-SEOK,AHN, CHANG-HWAN,LEE, GEUN-SHIK,HONG, EUI-JU,AN, BEUM-SOO,JEUNG, EUI-BAE SPANDIDOS PUBLICATIONS 2014 MOLECULAR MEDICINE REPORTS Vol.9 No.5

Claudins (CLDNs) are tetraspan transmembrane proteins, which are components of tight junctions. The CLDN family is composed of 27 members that are responsible for paracellular transport and certain CLDNs form charge-selective ion channels. CLDNs have two extracellular loops, and the charge of the first extracellular loop determines the ion selectivity of each CLDN. Although the expression and function of each CLDN have been previously investigated, the distribution of CLDNs in various target organs remains to be determined. In the present study, the tissue-specific mRNA distribution of CLDNs (1-5, 7-8, 10a and b, 11-12, 14-17 and 19) in the duodenum, ileum, colon, kidney, liver and lung were defined. Among the tested CLDNs, CLDN1, 2, 12 and 16 were selected for further investiagtion. It was observed that CLDN1, CLDN2 and CLDN12 transcripts and proteins were particularly abundant in the investigated organs. Notably, immune-reactive CLDN16 was detected in a tissue-specific manner and shown in the renal tubules and portal vein. The tested CLDNs were localized to intercellular apical junctions in the epithelium of the intestine, renal tubule and bronchus. Based on this novel information, the presence of several types of CLDNs is of interest as CLDNs may promote or dampen the paracellular diffusion of specific ions.

      • Cooperative Spectrum Sensing With Quantization Combining Over Imperfect Feedback Channels

Hwang, Inho,Lee, Jeong Woo IEEE 2017 IEEE transactions on signal processing Vol.65 No.3

A practical fusion rule with quantization combining is proposed for cooperative spectrum sensing over imperfect feedback channels that are inherent in the wireless environment. Local sensor nodes generate decision symbols regarding the existence of a primary user signal by multilevel detection and send them over feedback channels to the fusion center, in which demodulated symbols are combined to draw the cooperative decision. The proposed quantization combining scheme over imperfect feedback channels is analyzed, based on which detection probability and false alarm probability are derived. Operating parameters of the fusion rule with quantization combining are optimally determined under Neyman-Pearson criterion by using a differential evolution algorithm. The proposed fusion rule is compared with other schemes in terms of the detection performance, the amount of system information required for operation, the sensitivity to the channel estimation error, and the computational complexity required for parameter optimization. It is shown that the proposed fusion rule offers the reliable sensing capability even over imperfect feedback channels with requiring small amount of system information and complexity.

Buckling of Orthotropic Plates under Various Inplane Loads

Inho Hwang,Jong Seh Lee 대한토목학회 2006 KSCE journal of civil engineering Vol.10 No.5

When a laminated composite plate is subjected to a compressive edge force lying in the plane of the plate, failure can occur by buckling at a stress below the strength of the material. Critical buckling loads of orthotropic plates are usually calculated using the analytical solutions which are based on the assumption of uniform end loads, despite the fact that real structures are subjected to various non-uniform inplane loads. This paper examines the buckling behavior of the orthotropic plates under non-uniform inplane loads with different boundary conditions (all edges simply supported, two loaded edges clamped and others simply supported, and all edges clamped) using the finite element method (FEM). Numerical results show that the existing formulas for buckling load based on the uniform load assumption leads to overestimation of buckling loads.

A Study on Signal Analysis of the Data Aquisition System for Photosensor

Vol.10 No.3

The major advantage of slip-ring technology in Spiral CT is that it facilitates continuous rotation of the x-ray tube, so that volume data can be acquired from a patient quickly. Not only for such a fast scan, but also for the dose reduction purpose, high signal-to-noise ratio and fast data acquisition system is required. In this study, we have built a multi-channel photodetector and multi-channel data acquisition system for CT application. The detector module consisted of CdWO4 crystal and Si photodiode in 16 channels. For the performance test of the preamplifier stage, both the transimpedance and switched integrator types are optimized for the photodetector modules. Switched integrator showed better noise performance in the limited bandwidth which is suitable for the current CT application. The control sequence for data acquisition and 20 bit ADC is designed with VHDL(Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language) and implemented on FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) chip. Our Si photodiode detector module coupled to CdWO4 crystal showed comparable signal with other commercially available photodiode for CT. Switched integrator type showed higher SNR but narrower bandwidth compared to transimpedance preamplifier. Digital hardware is designed by FPGA, so that the control signal could be redesigned without hardware alteration.

Tissue-specific expression of the calcium transporter genes TRPV5, TRPV6, NCX1, and PMCA1b in the duodenum, kidney and heart of Equus caballus.

        Hwang, Inho,Jung, Eui-Man,Yang, Hyun,Choi, Kyung-Chul,Jeung, Eui-Bae The Society ; Maruzen Co. [distributor] 2011 The Journal of veterinary medical science Vol.73 No.11

Calcium transporter genes, such as transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V members 5/6 (TRPV5/6), Na(+)/Ca(2+) exchanger 1 (NCX1), and plasma membrane calcium-transporting ATPase 1b (PMCA1b), are essential for maintaining homeostasis and metabolizing Ca(2+) ions. The TRPV5 and TRPV6 proteins play an important role in Ca(2+ )absorption, and NCX1 and PMCA1b are both critical for intracellular calcium homeostasis. In this study, the tissue-specific mRNA and protein expression of these calcium transporter genes in the duodenum, kidney and heart of the horse (Equus caballus) was examined using reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blot analysis. The tissue localization of these calcium transporters was also investigated using immunohistochemistry. The results showed that TRPV5 mRNA was highly expressed in the kidney but was scarce in the duodenum and heart. TRPV6 mRNA levels were similar in all the tissues. NCX1 and PMCA1b were both highly expressed in the heart, but no difference in NCX1 and PMCA1b mRNA expressions was observed in the duodenum and kidney. The aspect of protein expression was similar with mRNA expression data. Localization of calcium transporter genes were detected enterocytes in duodenum, the distal convoluted tubules in the kidney, and within the cardiac muscle cells of the heart. Based on these results, calcium transport genes appear to be expressed in horse tissues at levels similar to those observed in other vertebrates.

Half-Duplex Relaying Strategy Suitable for a Relay with Mobility

2015 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.9 No.1

We propose a new time-division half-duplex estimate-and-forward (EF) relaying strategy suitable for a relay with mobility. We reconfigure EF relaying to guarantee a strong relay-destination link which is required to achieve a high rate using EF relaying. Based on the reconfigured model, we optimize the relaying strategy to attain a high rate irrespective of the relay position with preserving the total transmit bandwidth and energy. The proposed relaying strategy achieves high communication reliability for any relay position, which differs from conventional EF and decode-and-forward (DF) relaying schemes.

Impact of Polymorphisms of TLR4/CD14 and TLR3 on Acute Rejection in Kidney Transplantation

        Hwang, Young-Hwan,Ro, Han,Choi, Inho,Kim, Hyunsook,Oh, Kook-Hwan,Hwang, Jong-Ik,Park, Myoung Hee,Kim, Suhnggwon,Yang, Jaeseok,Ahn, Curie Lippincott Williams Wilkins, Inc. 2009 Transplantation Vol.88 No.5

BACKGROUND.: Organ transplantation itself inevitably activates the innate immune system by toll-like receptors (TLRs), potentially leading to allograft rejection and graft failure. We evaluated the possible association between the TLR4/CD14 and TLR3 polymorphisms of donor-recipient pairs, and acute rejection after living donor kidney transplantation. METHODS.: TLR4 −1607T/C (rs10759932), −2026A/G (rs1927914); CD14 −159C/T (rs2569190); and TLR3 rs3775290, rs3775291, and rs3775296 were genotyped using DNA samples from 216 donor-recipient pairs of adult living donor kidney transplantation between January 1996 and July 2006. Dual luciferase reporter assay was performed to determine the functional significance of promoter single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of TLR4. RESULTS.: Acute rejection occurred in 42 recipients (19.4%) of 216 adult transplant patients within 1 year. The genotype distributions of both recipient and donor TLR4 rs10759932 differed significantly between the control (no rejection) and acute rejection groups. For recipient rs10759932, the adjusted odds ratio for the TC+CC over TT genotype was 0.25 (95% confidence interval, 0.11–0.57; P =0.001). When the rs10759932 CC genotype was present in the recipient or donor, no episode of acute rejection occurred (Fisher’s exact test, P =0.023). The presence of the rs10759932 C allele was associated with higher rejection-free survival rates (log-rank test, P =0.0053). However, there was no difference in transcriptional activity between wild-type and variant promoters of TLR4. In contrast to TLR4, SNPs of TLR3 or CD14 had no influence on acute rejection. CONCLUSION.: These findings suggest the importance of TLR4 in the pathogenesis of acute rejection in kidney transplantation.

      • Examining technostress creators and role stress as potential threats to employees' information security compliance

Hwang, Inho,Cha, Oona Elsevier 2018 Computers in Human Behavior Vol.81 No.-

Abstract

This study examined whether employees' security-related stress, i.e., technostress and role stress, in an organizational setting could affect their compliance intention regarding information security. In a survey of 346 employees, it was found that security-related technostress creators in organizations negatively affected employees' organizational commitment, both directly and indirectly through role stress, and further lowered compliance intention regarding information security. In addition, it was found that employees' regulatory focus, i.e., promotion focus, moderated the relationship between technostress creators and role stress. Employees with a high level of promotion focus were more resistant to the adverse effect of technostress creators and thus experienced less role stress. These results suggest directions for organizational strategies to manage and enhance employees' information security compliance.

Highlights

Technostress/role stress is investigated as potential threats to security compliance.

Technostress and role stress affect compliance through organizational commitment.

Whether technostress creators lead to role stress depends on promotion focus.

People with high promotion focus feel less role stress despite technostress creators.
