A Fault tolerant system is one that can continue to correctly perform its specified tasks in the presence of hardware failures and software errors. This paper discribes hardware redundancy of fault tolerant methods used in the present digital switching systems, and proposes several new fault tolerant methods for digital switching systems. In addition, are compared and analyzed reliabilities between thr present and the new facult tolerant methods.

<P>A real-time quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) cell activity monitoring system coupled with micro CCD cameras was developed to investigate the cultured cell activity, which could measure the viscoelastic characteristics of the cell with the QCM and observe the cell morphology changes with CCD camera simultaneously. Both the viscoelastic characteristics and the shape of the cultured cell are important factors to estimate the cell activity and the cell adhesion. The extracellular matrix (ECM) on the surface of the QCM is essential to culture the cell stably in the QCM monitoring system. To find the ECM optimization condition, the adhesive strength of cultured cells on the ECM modified glass surface was measured by using rotating water stream and CCD camera. After culturing HepG2 cells for 24 hours on the ECM modified glass plates, the glass plates were dipped in the PBS solution and rotated with 1,000, 1,300, and 1,500 rpm for 30 seconds. The adhesiveness of ECMs was investigated by calculating the remained cells after rotating. Four types of ECM, such as amino group, carboxyl group, collagen monomer, and collagen polymer, were used and tested. The current paper improves the sensing system of previous report so that measurements of four ECMs can be simultaneously conducted under the same conditions in order to enhance reliability. A collagen polymer exposed ECM was the most stable on an adhesiveness point of view, but not suitable for the QCM cell activity monitoring due to the decrease of the QCM sensitivity. The sensitivity of the QCM cell activity monitoring system using collagen monomer as ECM is about 2.6 times better than that using collagen polymer. A collagen monomer exposed ECM was more stable than amino group and carboxyl group exposed ECMs based on an adhesiveness point of view. Therefore, a collagen monomer exposed ECM was the most stable and suitable for the QCM cell activity monitoring system among the four ECMs. The changes of the resonance frequency and the resonance resistance of the ECM film with the cultured cells were investigated and compared the results of CCD camera images. From these results, we showed the QCM cell activity monitoring system coupled with the micro CCD camera could be applied to the evaluation of the cell activities.</P>

Introduction: To evaluate the 3-dimensional changes in the pharyngeal airway of skeletal class III patients after bimaxillary surgery. Materials and Methods: The study sample consisted of 18 Korean patients that had undergone maxillary setback or posterosuperior movement and mandibular bilateral sagittal split osteotomy setback surgery due to skeletal class III malocclusion (8 males, 10 females; mean age of 28.7). Cone beam computed tomography was taken 1 month before and 6 months after orthognathic surgery. Preoperative and postoperative volumes of the nasopharyngeal, oropharyngeal, and laryngopharyngeal airways and minimum axial areas of the oropharyngeal and laryngopharyngeal spaces were measured. Moreover, the pharyngeal airway volume of the patient group that had received genioplasty advancement was compared with the other group that had not. Results: The nasopharyngeal and laryngopharyngeal spaces did not show significant differences before or after surgery. However, the oropharyngeal space volume and total volume of pharyngeal airway decreased significantly (P<0.05). The minimum axial area of the oropharynx also decreased significantly. Conclusion: The results indicate that bimaxillary surgery decreased the volume and the minimum axial area of the oropharyngeal space. Advanced genioplasty did not seem to have a significant effect on the volumes of the oropharyngeal and laryngopharyngeal spaces.

<P>In order to observe the force interaction in large areas, a novel force detection probe was fabricated by two-photon absorbed photopolymerization (TPAP) techniques. The probe was based on a commercial cantilever, and a docking structure for adopting a microsphere immobilized with actin antibody was fabricated by the TPAP techniques. The commercial AFM tip was also modified with the antibody for comparison. Using force curve measurement, the interaction force was compared between the modified probes and the sample surface which was immobilized with actin using a spotting system. The adhesive force of 1.3 nN was measured applying the commercial cantilever. The value was comparable to the measured interaction force of 130 nN applying the microsphere modified cantilever. The measured adhesive force of the novel probe was 100-fold larger than that obtained by the sharp AFM cantilever tip. This strong adhesive force of the microsphere modified cantilever to actin is explainable by the large contact area between the microsphere and the sample surface.</P>

Nowadays, medically compromised patients who could not receive dental treatments in the past are able to go through minor oral surgeries with adequate preoperative measures. Thorough understanding of the systemic disease and its complications is needed as well as the management them. Frequent complications of surgical procedures are bleeding, infection, delayed healing, systemic reactions by stress and they can be aggravated due to the patients’ systemic conditions. Therefore, understanding of the systemic disease of patient visiting dental office and treatment modification according to the systemic status is needed. Also consultation to the medical doctor is imperative, through which perioperative risk and complications can be reduced. Among the high frequency complications of dental treatment of medically compromised patients, bleeding, infection, delayed healing, systemic reactions by stress will be discussed with the management of each one.

<P>Seasonal influenza is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality of children in Korea. However, few data are available on parental perception and action toward childhood influenza. This study aimed to characterize parental perception and patterns of action in response to influenza and influenza-like illnesses (ILIs), including vaccination and healthcare use. This prospective study involved a random survey of parents whose children were aged 6–59 months. The survey was conducted in October 2014. The study included 638 parents of 824 children younger than 6 years. Most parental information of influenza came from mass media (28.2%) and social media (15.5%). The factor that most often motivated parents to vaccinate their children against influenza was promotion of the government or mass media (36.6%). Negative predictors of immunization included safety concerns about influenza vaccination (28.1%) and mistrust in the vaccine's effectiveness (23.3%). Therefore, correct information about influenza and vaccination from mass media will be one of the cornerstones for implementing a successful childhood immunization program and reducing morbidity and mortality in Korea. Furthermore, to enroll younger children in vaccination programs, and to minimize coverage gaps, public concerns about vaccine safety should be resolved. The demographic data in the present study will be used to provide a deeper insight into a parental perception and will help health care providers increase influenza immunization rate.</P>
삼채(Allium hookeri) 잎 연중생산을 위한 식물공장 환경제어 효과

The demand for the fresh leaf of hooker chive, which is mainly used as functional roots and contains dietary sulfur or saponin, is increasing, but the leaves are only harvested 3-4 times per year under conventional field conditions. A plant factory system with different light qualities or intensities was applied for year-round production of the fresh leaves. Hooker chive (Allium hookeri) roots were hydroponically cultured under the plant factory with a mixture of blue plus red LEDs (Light- Emitting Diodes) and fluorescent lights for 50 weeks. Maximum leaf growth was attained with the 1.5 dS/m EC in the culture medium under the plant factory. The average leaf and shoot numbers of hooker chive grown hydroponically under a mixture of 200 μmol/m<sup>2</sup>/s LEDs increased by 147% and 140%, respectively compared to those under 100 μmol/m<sup>2</sup>/s LEDs at the 10th harvest. The leaf length of hooker chive grown under the LEDs treatment with the lowest light intensity significantly increased by 27% compared with the natural light treatment at the 10th harvest. However, there was no significant difference in leaf pigmentation between natural and 200 μmol/m<sup>2</sup>/s LEDs treatments. Plant factory with the mixture LEDs of blue and red lights can be applied for year-round production of hooker chive fresh leaves to ensure a stable supply of leafy vegetable throughout the year.
