SBA 렉틴 활성에 Ca^2+Mn^2+ 이온이 미치는 영향

Soybean agglutinin (SBA) is the Ca^2+, Mn^2+ dependent lectin and the specificity of carbohydrates are D-galactose and N-acetyl-D-galactosamine. However, the effect of Ca^2+ and Mn^2+ ions to the activity of SBA is still unknown in detail. In the present study, hemmaglutination assay and enxyme-linked lectin assay (ELLA) have been applied. First, the carbohydrate-binding specificity of the crude SBA extract was examined, and D-galactose and N-acetyl-D-galactosamine exhibited the activity of the inhibition. The effect of Ca^2+ and Mn^2+ on the activity of SBA was observed by increasing the concentration of the ions, 1 to 50mM. SBA revealed the maximum activity when it contains 2mM Ca^2+ and/or Mn^2+ ion. Using these results, to isolate the SBA from crude extract, GaINAc-affinity column was applied containing Ca^2+ and Mn^2+ ions, and then eluted by same buffer without Ca^2+ and Mn^2+. SBA lectin which has hemagglutination activity was successfully isolated using its Ca^2+ and Mn^2+ dependent properties.

<P>This paper presents a novel fabrication method of scalloping-free and footing-free vertical electrodes for micromachined capacitive inclinometers with a high sensing resolution. The proposed fabrication method is based on additional crystalline wet etching of a (1 1 0) silicon that is bonded to a silicon substrate with a patterned insulator layer. The sensing electrodes, which are aligned to the (1 1 1) plane, have very smooth sidewalls because the morphological defects formed by the silicon deep reactive ion etching (DRIE) process are drastically reduced in the crystalline wet etching. The fabricated capacitive inclinometer with smooth sensing electrodes was evaluated in terms of capacitance change and resolution. The capacitance of the fabricated inclinometer is changed from −0.246 to 0.258 pF for the inclination angle (−90° to 90°). The temporal deviation of the capacitance is as small as 0.2 fF, which leads to a high resolution of 0.1° or less for ±45°.</P>

결정질실리콘 태양전지를 제조함에 있어 실리콘 기판 내의 금속 불순물들은 소자제작 시에 성능 저하의 원인으로 작용한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 실리콘 기판에 Cr, Cu, Ni 불순물을 강제 오염시킨 후 태양전지를 제작하여 각각의 불순물에 대한 특성을 조사 하였다. p-type 실리콘 기판을 오염시키기 위해 일정 시간동안 표준용액에 담근 후 질소 분위기에서 열처리 하여 불순물을 확산시켰다. 이후 상용 공정을 이용하여 태양전지를 제작하고 기판내 금속불순물 농도에 따른 태양전지의 동작특성을 분석하였다.

Purpose : While there have been growing concerns about the effects of Asian dusts on health, there are few studies for relationship between Asian dusts and health outcome. This study was designed to examine the perceived symptoms and behavior change of children during the Asian Dust events. Methods : We surveyed 459 students at an elementary school in Seoul, Korea from November 20th to 27th 2002. Children with parents were asked to return the completed questionnaires within a week. The questionnaires included the sociodemographic factor, previous respiratory disease, and perceived symptom, hospital visits and behavior change during the Asian dusts. Results : The majority of children reported that they restrained going out and outdoor recreational activity during the Asian dusts. The rate of children who worn the mask was 49% and 47% in second grade and fifth grade, respectively. Regarding the perceived symptom during the Asian dusts, the children in 2nd were more likely to have symptom than 5th and there were significant difference between two groups in cough. asthma symptom, dry cough, phlegm and medication for allergy or asthma symptom. In addition, children who had previous disease were more likely to change behavior in order to prevent the effects of Asian dusts. Conclusions : This study suggested that the younger children and children who had past respiratory disease were susceptible to the effect of Asian dusts. There is a need for providing public information and health education to prevent the impact of Asian dusts on health.
스퍼터링 증착변수에 따른 n-i-p 플렉서블 실리콘 박막 태양전지용 ZnO/Ag 후면전극의 물성 변화

마그네트론 스퍼터링법을 이용하여 n-i-p 구조의 플렉서블 실리콘 박막태양전지용 ZnO/Ag 후면전극을 stainless steel 기판위에 제조하고 증착온도와 Ag 박막의 두께 변화에 따른 광학적 특성변화를 조사하였다. ZnO/Ag 구조의 후면전극은 RF와 DC 마그네트론 스퍼터링으로 Ag 금속 및 ZnO:Al(Al₂O₃ 2.5%) 세라믹 타겟을 이용하여 각각 제조하였으며 증착온도는 상온 {sim}500?C로, Ag 박막두께는 100 ~ 500 nm로 변화시켰다. 증착조건 변화에 따라 제조된 후면전극의 표면거칠기 및 형상변화를 Atomic Force Mircroscope (AFM)와 Scanning electron miroscopy (SEM)으로 분석하였으며 이에 따른 반사도 변화를 UV-visible-nIR spectrometry 측정을 통하여 조사하였다. 증착온도가 증가함에 따라 Ag 박막의 표면 거칠기는 점차로 증가하였으며 증착된 후면전극의 반사도도 함께 증가함을 알 수 있었다. Ag 박막의 두께 변화에 따른 반사도 변화와 n-i-p 구조의 플렉서블 실리콘 박막태양전지에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다.
Effect of Curing and Compression Process on the Drug Release of Coated Ion-Exchange Resin Complexes

Ion exchange resins can be one of the good carriers for sustained drug release. However, the sustained release may not be enough only with themselves and hence film coating with rate controlling polymers can be applied to have a further effect on the drug release. Due to the environmental and economic issues of organic solvent for the polymer coating, aqueous polymeric systems were selected to develop dosage forms. Among the many aqueous polymeric dispersions for the film coating, EC(ethylcellulose) based polymers such as Aquacoat(R) ECD and Surelease(R) were evaluated. A fluid-bed coating was applied as a processing method. The drug release rate was quite dependent on the coating level so the release rate could be modified easily by changing different levels of the coating. The drug release rate in the Aquacoat (R) coated resin particles was strongly dependent on curing, which is a thermal treatment to make homogeneous films and circumvent drug release changes during storage. After dissolution test using the compressed tablets in which the coated resin particles are contained, inhomogeneous coating and even pores could be observed showing that the mechanical properties of EC were not resistant to granulation and compaction process. However, when tablets were prepared in different batches, the release profiles were almost identical showing the feasibility of the coated resin particle as incorporated into the tablet formulation.

Aims: We previously demonstrated that multiplication of α-fetoprotein (AFP), des-γ-carboxy prothrombin (DCP) and tumor volume (TV) (ADV score, expressed in log10) is an integrated surrogate marker of post-resection prognosis for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Positron emission tomography (PET) reflects the tumor biology. We intended to assess whether preoperative ADV score combined with PET finding can predict the prognosis for large HCC. Methods: Nine institutions participated in this study supported by KASL research fund. Selection criteria were preoperative measurement of AFP and DCP, FDG-PET and macroscopic curative resection of solitary HCC ≥8 cm, by which 526 patients who underwent surgery between 2008 and 2014 were selected. Results: Median values were 11.0 cm for tumor diameter, 402 mL for tumor volume, and 8.3 for ADV score. Expression levels of AFP and DCP were not correlated (r<sup>2</sup>=0.02, p=0.002). Tumor recurrence and patient survival were significantly different according to ADV score cutoffs of 6 and 9 (p=0.000) and PET findings (p=0.000). Both ADV score cutoff at 6 and hypermetabolic PET were independent risk factors for tumor recurrence (HR 1.9 and 1.8) and patient survival (HR 2.3 and 3.0), respectively. Combination of ADV score cutoff at 6 and PET (ADV6-PET) resulted in great prognostic contrasts in tumor recurrence and patient survival (Fig. 1; all p=0.000). After exclusion of preoperative treatment cases, such prognostic contrast was further enhanced. Independent risk factors for tumor recurrence and patient survival were ADV6-PET (HR 1.6 and 2.7), microvascular invasion (HR 1.7 and 1.9), macrovascular invasion (HR 1.5 and 1.5) and satellite nodule (HR 1.5 and 2.0), respectively. Conclusions: The prognostic power of ADV6-PET was quite comparable to that of well-known pathological risk factors, thus that it can be used to predict the post-resection outcomes during preoperative planning for resection of large HCC.
Unique Unfoldase/Aggregase Activity of a Molecular Chaperone Hsp33 in its Holding-Inactive State

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The various chaperone activities of heat shock proteins contribute to ensuring cellular proteostasis. Here, we demonstrate the non-canonical unfoldase activity as an inherent functionality of the prokaryotic molecular chaperone, Hsp33. Hsp33 was originally identified as a holding chaperone that is post-translationally activated by oxidation. However, in this study, we verified that the holding-inactive reduced form of Hsp33 (<SUP>R</SUP>Hsp33) strongly bound to the translational elongation factor, EF-Tu. This interaction was critically mediated by the redox-switch domain of <SUP>R</SUP>Hsp33 and the guanine nucleotide-binding domain of EF-Tu. The bound <SUP>R</SUP>Hsp33, without undergoing any conformational change, catalyzed the EF-Tu aggregation by evoking the aberrant folding of EF-Tu to expose hydrophobic surfaces. Consequently, the oligomers/aggregates of EF-Tu, but not its functional monomeric form, were highly susceptible to proteolytic degradation by Lon protease. These findings present a unique example of an ATP-independent molecular chaperone with distinctive dual functions—as an unfoldase/aggregase and as a holding chaperone—depending on the redox status.
