Recently there has been significant damage in the road bridges due to large and overloaded trucks. Especially because moving truck loads have dynamic characteristics, the dynamic stresses that are larger than static stresses are occurred in road bridges. Therefore it is necessary to develop dynamic truck model to evaluate the dynamic response of road bridges The objectives of this study are to develop truck model which can provide a better estimation of the dynamic responses of road bridges during the passage of design truck. The bridge type is simply supported bridge and the spans of bridges are 10m, 20m, 30m, 40m, and 50m. The impact factors of bridges with different speed under various conditions such as truck speed, span length, running types are evaluated by the developed procedure. Also, impact factors of road bridge computed from the developed procedure are compared with the existing Based on the results of this study, it is found that the developed dynamic model of design truck is appropriate to obtain the dynamic response of rad bridges. It is concluded that the dynamic effects such as truck speed, road roughness, starting and braking conditions of truck are reasonably considered in the dynamic analysis of bridges.

We describe a patient with an unusual cause of the occlusions of both femoral arteries by myxomas. A 41-year-old man presented with sudden onset of both leg pain and paresthesia. His hematological and cardiological status was normal. Lower peripheral angiography was performed and demonstrated thrombotic occlusion, both common femoral artery and superficial femoral and proximal portion of deep femoral artery. He was successfully treated with surgical and forgaty catheter extraction. Histologic finding was myxoma probably from cardiac origin. Cardiac investigations to determine the source of the myxoma, including 2-D echocardiography and Transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) of the heart, failed to demonstrate residual myxoma in heart. No residual tumor or potential source of the tumor was found. The cause of both leg pain was the occlusions of the both common femoral arteries by myxomas. An entire cardiac tumor might have embolized with no detectable residual tumor in the heart; altematively a myxoma might have originated as a primary tumor in the femoral artery.

N/A Objectives: Decreased glomerular filtration rate, low urine output, sodium retention, and ascites formation associated with impaired water excretion and dilutional hyponatremia often complicate the course of patients with cirrhosis of the liver. Somatostatin, an agent that causes selective splanchnic arteriolar vasoconstriction and decreases portal and collateral blood flow and portal pressure, is widely used in cirrhotic patients for the treatment of acute vriceal bleeding and cirrhotic patients with ascites. We performed this study to evaluate the effect of somatostatin analogue on renal function of cirrhotic patients with hepatorenal syndrome. Methods: The effect of somatostatin analogue on renal function was investigated in 15 cirrhotic patients with hepatorenal syndrome with low urine output, low serum sodium, and increased serum creatinine. somatostatin analogue (octreotide) 50 ug was injected subcutaneously for 3 days. Results: The probability of hepatorenal syndrome occurrence was more common in viral hepatitis induced cirrhosis than alcoholic cirrhosis. In the patients with hepatorenal syndrome, octreotide induces a significant increase in urine volume (before injection 450±35.9 vs. 1st day 620±46.2, 2nd day 1190±160.9, 3rd day 896±141.4 ml/dl), a significant decrease urine osmolarity (before injection 526±63 vs. 1st day 445±69, 2nd day 430±56, 3rd day 438±61 mOsm/kg), and significant increase in free water clearance (before injection-0.4±0.3 vs.-lst day 0.5±0.1, 2nd day 0.6±0.2, 3rd day 0.5±0.1 ml/min). Conclusion: The effect of somatostatin might be attributed to an improvement of renal hemodynamics through splanchnic vasoconstriction in hepatorenal syndrome. It is concluded that somatostain may have a role in the treatment of the renal abnormalities complicating liver disease.

The purpose of this research is to contribute the data for clarifying the geomorphic characteristics by comparing the joint strikes with stream directions. Joint sets, strikes, and dips are measured in the outcrops by the standards established by K,E, Lowe. The field data are illustrated by the joint map, rose diagrams, point diagram, contour diagram. To know the relation between joint patterns and stream directions Spearman’s r is adapted. The joint patterns in Chulmasan area are concentrated on the tree main strikes that range from N36W to N45W and from N56W to N65W and from N26E to N35E. These strikes represent a master joint set, 33.3% of the total frequency of this area. The stream direction frequency distribution is concentrated to the above ranges and is 40.7% in the above ranges. Spearman’ r is 0.52 and so we have come to concluded that there is amount of corelation between the joint patterns and the stream directions.

Optic nerve sheath meningioma is a rare tumor originating from meningothelial cap cells of the arachnoid membrane surrounding the intraorbital optic nerve. Because optic nerve sheath meningioma grows slowly and presents benign clinical behaviors which do not cause death, observation with regular evaluation is usually considered prior to interventional treatment. However, some reports indicated that progressive visual loss in one eye and gradual progression into bilateral involvement with intracranial extension confer blindness of both eyes. Therefore, optimal management should be properly selected to produce superior clinical outcomes with the consideration of the visual function and tumor extent.
