      • Anti-Inflammatory and Analgesic Effects of Pyeongwisan on LPS-Stimulated Murine Macrophages and Mouse Models of Acetic Acid-Induced Writhing Response and Xylene-Induced Ear Edema

        <P>Pyeongwisan (PW) is an herbal medication used in traditional East Asian medicine to treat anorexia, abdominal distension, borborygmus and diarrhea caused by gastric catarrh, atony and dilatation. However, its effects on inflammation-related diseases are unknown. In this study, we investigated the biological effects of PW on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-mediated inflammation in macrophages and on local inflammation <I>in vivo</I>. We investigated the biological effects of PW on the production of inflammatory mediators, pro-inflammatory cytokines and related products as well as the activation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) in LPS-stimulated macrophages. Additionally, we evaluated the analgesic effect on the acetic acid-induced writhing response and the inhibitory activity on xylene-induced ear edema in mice. PW showed anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the production of nitric oxide (NO), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β). In addition, PW strongly suppressed inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), a NO synthesis enzyme, induced heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) expression and inhibited NF-κB activation and MAPK phosphorylation. Also, PW suppressed TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1β cytokine production in LPS-stimulated peritoneal macrophage cells. Furthermore, PW showed an analgesic effect on the writhing response and an inhibitory effect on mice ear edema. We demonstrated the anti-inflammatory effects and inhibitory mechanism in macrophages as well as inhibitory activity of PW <I>in vivo</I> for the first time. Our results suggest the potential value of PW as an inflammatory therapeutic agent developed from a natural substance.</P>

        Antioxidant and hepatoprotective effects of Korean ginseng extract GS-KG9 in a D-galactosamine-induced liver damage animal model

        BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: This study was designed to investigate the improvement effect of white ginseng extract (GS-KG9) on D-galactosamine (Ga1N)-induced oxidative stress and liver injury. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Sixty Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 6 groups. Rats were orally administrated with GS-KG9 (300, 500, or 700 mg/kg) or silymarin (25 mg/kg) for 2 weeks. The rats of the GS-KG9- and silymarin-treated groups and a control group were then intraperitoneally injected Ga1N at a concentration of 650 mg/kg for 4 days. To investigate the protective effect of GS-KG9 against GalN-induced liver injury, blood liver function indicators, anti-oxidative stress indicators, and histopathological features were analyzed. RESULTS: Serum biochemical analysis indicated that GS-KG9 ameliorated the elevation of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in GalN-treated rats. The hepatoprotective effects of GS-KG9 involved enhancing components of the hepatic antioxidant defense system, including glutathione, glutathione peroxidase (GPx), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT). In addition, GS-KG9 treatment inhibited reactive oxygen species (ROS) production induced by GalN treatment in hepatocytes and significantly increased the expression levels of nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) proteins, which are antioxidant proteins. In particular, by histological analyses bases on hematoxylin and eosin, Masson"s trichrome, α-smooth muscle actin, and transforming growth factor-β1 staining, we determined that the administration of 500 mg/kg GS-KG9 inhibited hepatic inflammation and fibrosis due to the excessive accumulation of collagen. CONCLUSIONS: These findings demonstrate that GS-KG9 improves GalN-induced liver inflammation, necrosis, and fibrosis by attenuating oxidative stress. Therefore, GS-KG9 may be considered a useful candidate in the development of a natural preventive agent against liver injury.

      • LSF의 우선순위 역전을 해결한 실시간 스케쥴링 전략

        LSF scheduling policy involves the Priority Reversal which reverses the scheduling order of real-time tasks. The slack time of the task currently running isn't decreased under LSF. If the task is preempted by a task newly arrived, therefore, its slack time can become longer than those of other tasks with lower priority. This Priority Reversal can make the task with higher priority miss its deadline. In this paper, we propose a new real-time scheduling policy, Consistent_LSF guarantees consistently the scheduling order of current real-time tasks without regard to any new task. The preempted tasks are maintained in a separate stack and are scheduled earlier than the tasks with lower priority. We evaluate the performance of Consistent_LSF through experiments. The results reveal that Consistent_LSF misses deadline less than LSF across all ranges of system load.

        It has already 10 years passed since Saemaul Undong (New Village Movement) broke out and researcher of this movement participated in its cooperation and analysis of the study. And also there are many a study and research going on and related literature. Especially, nowadays a lot of research activities and expertes become active in this country. But this study aims to investigate for the enhancement of industrial educational complex whether it is wisely used for the establishment of Saemaul policy and relationship between studies or its practical application. For this effective method, Researcher surveyed the historical background of Saemaul research works, the present situation of research institutes, and research records of performance. And also researchers investigated to ask for questionnaire to find out the problems from the chairman of the public administration who are in charge of Saemaul Undong for the effective usage of them. It will be definitely meaningful for the improvement of industrial-educational cooperation to process of Saemaul study by drawing out effectiveness and activation in it practical application to the method of study and upbrining direction for Saemaul institution. From the beginning of the study, a few of researchers and individual study were going to investigate in the area of Saemaul Undong to review of the situation and development history of Saemaul research. Whereas by the time when the full-fledged study and movement expansion were becoming active, the Saemaul research institutes were established in each university institution for their sincere research and organized the Saemaul study committee by the Saemaul education graduates. In this way, the numbers of Saemaul research institute attached to the University are reached to 89 different sections with the participation of the professors amounting to 527 members by the year 1977 and the members of the research committee amount to 671 by the 1981. These institute have been studied with the government research fund estimated two or three million won, Korean currency, by the group of four or five researchers in the Unversity from 1977 to the year of 1981 sponsored by the ministry of Education in Korea. Therefore, through the Saemaul institution they produced 99 research task works by spending two hundred and thirty nine million won (U.S. dollars 34,142,860). These research activities were mainly based on the particapation to function, service, and University research. The main content areas are as follows : 1. The research development of fundamental theory for the Saemaul Undone study 2. The study for the initiative plan 3. The scientic study of Saemaul Undong study 4. The industrial educational relation study This study was to investigate the effect of research sponsored by research funds through the questionnaire and collected from the chairman of each administrative staffs working as Saemaul Undong. The research tool was used by percentile rank. The followings are the result of the opinions from the staff members, 1. According to the questionnaire answers, the thesis was read by the staff less than one or three volumes 72% of the respondents. This reminds us of less opportunity to reach the materials they published. 2. Though Saemaul research materials published each year, they did not realize the information which is to publish. This makes the problem to communicate the information and replenishment. 3. Some of the respondent about 67 percent did not receive the research materials at all. This causes the problems which make effective investment. 4. Sixty eight percent of the respondents revealed their opinions to the main theme and content of the study to be effective use for further study. Therefore, the study must be effective in the area of possible utilization for this research and should be supplied to the members where they stayed in the administrative institution without limitation. In order to be effective method, the researcher can be solved the problems by following methodology as to systematize the research method of Saemaul Undong and to establish the expansion of the application method. The study related to Saemaul Movement load meaningful value and organization of its research, but it had not enough systematized each study and its relations with the practical application of the research. Therefore, the result of the study must have the correlation with each other. That is, the study of the process should be established by the systematic procedure and by the time or space order. Reconmmendation The following recomendation should be effective to the conclusion of the study. 1. The research proposal should be systematized so as to establish the main plan and theme. 2. The study must emphasize to set up the over all plan escaping from formal type of study. 3. You must set up the model area of the study and establish the methodology to be experimental by the process of research. And you should reevaluate the findings of them and reflect to the next study program in the future.

      • SPCC강의 점소성 거동에 대한 실험적 연구

        SPCC강에 대한 점소성 거동의 특성을 Perzyna 점소성 모형을 기준으로 실험적으로 조사하였다. 점소성 구성방정식을 미소변형 및 유한변형이론에 맞추어 표현하고, 각 경우에 대한 물질상수 및 정적항복함수를 구하였다. 여러가지 변형율속도하에서 인장시험 결과로 부터 물질상수 및 정적항복함수를 결정하기 위한 자료처리 방안이 제시되었다. The characteristics of Visco-Plastic behaviors of SPCC steel are investigated empirically based on the Visco-Plastic model proposed by Perzyna. Visco-Plastic constitutive equations are expressed according to both infinitesimal and finite deformation theories, and material constants and static yield function are obtained in each case. A method of data regression is proposed for determining the material constants and static yield function from the results of tensile test under various strain-rate.

        Recently, Wire-rireless combination study is being studied very actively with the advent of Ubiquitous environment, using wireless device such as PDA, Cellular Phone loading multi-hop communication that connects wired internet network very easily and controls the system and shares the information in anyplace. The past algorithm, wired and wireless combination that connect between Ad Hoc Network and wired network is being focused only on the study of heterogeneous network interface. The proposed algorithm established independent multi-path between source node and destination node to prevent data loss when errors happen in route.         폴리에스테르 섬유 감량시스템의 제어를 위해서는 처리조 내에서 감량되는 섬유가 목표 감량치에 도달했는지를 판단해 주는 장치가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 가성소다용액의 초농도 및 섬유 감량 정도의 정확한 측정과 감량 종료시간의 산출 및 이에 따른 종료신호를 발생할 수 있는 폴리에스테르 섬유 감량기 전용의 자동적정장치를 개발하였다. To control caustic soda treatment system for the polyester fabric reduction, we need the device to determine that the fabric has been arrived target reduction value. In this study, we develope an automatic process titrator for the caustic soda treatment system. Major functions of the target titrating system are accurate measurements of the caustic soda concentration and then producing the end point signal for caustic soda treatment system.

      • 프레스금형의 드로비드설계에 관한 실험적 연구

        정사각형 용기의 Deep Drawing 성형성 실험을 다양한 작업조건하에서 수행하였다. 본 연구에서는 재료의 유동상태와 판두께의 국부적 변화량을 성형성의 척도로 사용하였으며, Photo-etching 방법을 이용하여 이들을 측정하였다. Draw Bead의 크기, 블랭크 홀더력의 크기 및 윤활상태의 변화에 따른 정사각형 용기의 둘레방향, 대각선방향 및 반경방향으로의 판두께 변화량과 재료의 유동상태를 실험적으로 분석하였다. Experiments on the drawability of squared boxes have been performed under various working conditions. In the present work, the pattern of material flow and the local change in the thickness of shell are used as the measures of drawabilitiy and they are measured using the photo-etching technique. The size of draw bead, the magnitude of blank holding force and the condition of lubrication have been changed and their effects on the pattern of material flow and the thickness of shell along the circumferential, diagonal and radial directions of the squared boxes have been analyzed experimentally.

        8.3% Carbamide Peroxide 함유 펜 형 자가미백제인 BIancTis Forte의 색조개선 및 안전성에 관한 임상연구

        This clinical study evaluated the whitening effect and safety of polymer based-pen type BlancTis Forte(NIBEC) containing 8.3% carbamide peroxide. Twenty volunteers used the BlancTis Forte whitening agent for 2 hours twice a day for 4 weeks As a control. Whitening Effect Pen (LG) containing 3% hydrogen peroxide was used by 20 volunteers using the same protocol. The change in shade (ΔE^(*) color difference) was measured using Shadepilot™ (DeguDent) before, during and after bleaching (2 weeks, 4 weeks and postbleaching 4 weeks). A clinical examination for any side effects (tooth hypersensitivity or soft tissue complications) was also performed at each check-up. The following results were obtained. 1 Both the experimental and control groups displayed a noticeable change in shade (ΔE) of over 2 No significant differences were found between the two group (p>0.05) implying that the two agents have a similar whitening effect. 2 The whitening effect was mainly due to changes in a and b values rather than in L value (brightness). The experimental group showed a significantly higher change in b value thus yellow shade than the control(p < 0.05) 3 None of the participants complained of tooth hypersensitivity or soft tissue complications confirming the safety of both whitening agents 8.3%의 carbamide peroxide를 함유한 펜형 코팅용 미백제인 BlancTis Forte (NIBEC, Seosul & JinCheon)를 실험군으로, 3% hydrogen peroxide를 함유한글 Whitening Effect Pen (LG. Seoul) 제재를 대조군으로 각각 피험자 20명에게 2시간씩 1일 2회 제조사의 지시대로 치아표면에 4주간 적용하도록 지시하고 색조개선 효능과 안전성을 평가하였다. 미백 효과는 미백 전 및 미백 2주, 4주 및 미백 종료 4주 후에 Shadopilot™을 이용하여 색 변화를 측정하였고, 매 내원시기마다 모든 환자는 치수생활력 검사와 치주 및 치태 검사를 통해 부작용 여부 (치아과민증 및 구감 내 연조직의 부작용)를 기록한 후 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1.실험군 및 대조군의 색 변화량 (ΔE)은 2이상으로 인지할 수 있는 색 변화를 보였으며, 두 제품 간에는 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이지 않아 (p > 0.05) 유사한 미백효능을 나타냄을 알 수 있었다. 2,미백효과는 명도의 개선보다는 주로 a. b값의 변화에 의한 것으로 특히 실험군에서 b값의 변화, 즉 황색조의 개선효과가 대조군에 비해 유의성 있게 높은 것으로 나타났다 (p <0.05). 3.치아나 치은의 과민증이나 이상증상을 호소하는 피험자는 없어 두 제품 모두 안전성을 확인할 수 있었다.
