<P>Herein, we report titanium-organic gels (TOGs) as new Ti-oxo-based materials that exhibit stimuli-responsive sol-gel transformations and hierarchical porosity upon the removal of solvent molecules. Heating a solution of Ti-oxo clusters and pyromellitic acid as a tetratopic ligand produces TOGs that readily become sols by applying physical stimuli such as shaking or vortexing under ambient conditions. Porous titanium-organic aerogels (TOAs) were obtained by the CO2 supercritical point drying (CPD) of the TOGs, and their porous structures were characterized by N2 adsorption and desorption isotherm measurements. These TOAs, based on the Ti-oxo clusters, possess hierarchical micro-, meso-, and macropores. Furthermore, accompanying the prominent photochromic phenomena, reduction of Ti4+ to Ti3+ was observed upon UV irradiation. The TOAs were successfully applied in the adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of several dye molecules. This research introduces a versatile method for preparing stimuli-responsive and porous Ti-oxo-based photocatalysts.</P><P>Stimuli-responsive titanium-organic gels (TOGs) derived from Ti-oxo clusters exhibited reversible gel-to-sol and sol-to-gel transformations upon shaking and heating, respectively. CO2 supercritical point drying of the TOGs produced highly porous titanium-organic aerogels (TOAs). The photoredox properties of the TOGs and TOAs resulted in reversible photochromic behaviors upon alternating exposure to UV radiation and air. Owing to the hierarchical porosity and photoredox properties, large dye molecules were rapidly adsorbed in the pores and degraded upon UV irradiation.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Solid-phase synthesis of 1, 3-oxazolidine derivatives

1,3-Oxazolidines 9 were synthesized by using a solid support. Regioselactive ring opening of resin-bound epoxy ether 3 with ammonium chloride followed by nucleophilic substitution with sodium azide gave azido alcohol 7. Reduction of 7 provided 1-amino-2-alkanol 6, which was treated with various aldehydes and acyl chlorides or isocyanates to afford the corresponding 1,3-oxazolidines immobilized on Wang resin. Oxidative cleavage with DDQ from the solid support yieldad 1,3-oxazolidines as a mixture of 10 (cis) and 11 (trans).

An allergic reaction ensues after antigen binds to mast cell or basophil high affinity IgE receptor, FceRI, resulting in degranulation of various inflammatory mediators that produce various allergic symptoms. In this study, i) we isolated the active component for the inhibition of mast cell degranulation from the extract of leaves of Castanea crenata and identified it as quercetin; ii) we established the total synthesis procedure of quercetin; iii) using quercetin as positive control, we excavated some lead compounds that possess inhibitory activities for mast cell degranulation by screening the chemical libraries of 1,3-oxazolidine derivatives prepared by solid phase combinatorial chemistry. Some of 1,3-oxazolidine compounds possessing acetyl and 3',4'-dichlorophenyl group displayed strong inhibitory activities on FceRI-mediated mast cell degranulation, suggesting that they can be used as lead compounds for the development of anti-allergic agents.
