Background/Aims: Data comparing the antibody responses of different coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine platforms according to dose with natural severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection-induced antibody responses are limited. Methods: Blood samples from adult patients with mild and severe COVID-19 and healthcare workers who received ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine (2nd dose at 12-week intervals) and BNT162b2 vaccine (2nd dose at 3-week intervals) were collected and compared by immunoglobulin G immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 specific spike protein using an in-house-developed enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: A total of 53 patients, including 12 and 41 with mild and severe COVID-19, respectively, were analyzed. In addition, a total of 73 healthcare workers, including 37 who received ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 and 36 who received BNT162b2, were enrolled. Antibody responses after the first and second doses of the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine or the first dose of the BNT162b2 vaccine were similar to those in convalescent patients with mild COVID-19, but lower than those in convalescent patients with severe COVID-19, respectively. However, after the second dose of the BNT162b2 vaccine, the antibody response was comparable to that in convalescent patients with severe COVID-19. Conclusions: Our data suggest that the second dose of mRNA vaccination may be more beneficial in terms of long-term immunity and prevention of SARS-CoV-2 variant infection than a single dose of COVID-19 vaccination or homologous second challenge ChAdOx1 nCoV-19.

Some patients requesting abdominal contour surgery may have all their deformity below the semicircular line. These patients were treated by the traditional procedure, but these patients has nerve satisfied because of long and wide scar. From a study of the deformities of each layer of the abdominal wall, we have categorized three types of abdominoplasties. For each type, we used a different surgical technique, aiming to sculpture the abdomen and treat each layer according to the deformity present in each patient. By classifying the various problems and by using the different approaches, only the specific deformities of the abdominal wall need be corrected. The results were judged good excellent by the surgeons and patients because of the more natural appearance of the final results.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the wearing and purchase behavior of clothing among girls' high school students. The subjects of this study were 393 girls' high school students in Chongju. The data were collected by questionnaires and analyzed by frequencies and χ2 -test. The results were as follows: 1)Most of girls' high school students wore plain clothes 2-4 days per a week when they went out after school, and the seventy percents of them tended to exchange their clothing each other and to modify their school uniform. 2)In a purchase behavior, they use the display in stores to seek for information regarding clothing products and they were supported by their parents for buying their clothes. Also, most of them purchased their clothes once or twice a season. About thirty five percents of them, purchased their clothes in famous brand stores. 3)The frequency of purchasing clothing products was related with the variables of allowance. self-perceived economic state, the frequency of wearing plain clothes, and the exchange of clothes.
Anti-Inflammatory Diets and Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a mental illness characterized by symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech, disorganized or catatonic behavior, and negative symptoms (emotional flatness, apathy, and lack of speech). It causes social and economic burdens to patients and their family. Although etiology of schizophrenia is still uncertain, dopamine dysregulation is traditionally considered as a main etiological factor of schizophrenia, which has been utilized to develop drugs for treating schizophrenia. Recently, inflammation has presented being a risk factor for schizophrenia in that neuroinflammation contributes to the pathophysiology of schizophrenia and the exacerbation of symptom severity. Various factors including diet can regulate inflammatory state. Specific foods or dietary patterns have anti- or pro-inflammatory potentials. Increased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines and microglia activation have been reported in schizophrenia populations and were related to the pathogenesis of schizophrenia. Omega-3 fatty acids were often recommended to schizophrenia patients because of their anti-inflammatory activities. In this review, we investigate the inflammation-related pathogenesis of schizophrenia and summarize potential nutritional approaches to inhibit the manifestation of symptoms and to alleviate symptom severity using anti-inflammatory nutrients or functional components.
Diabetes and Alzheimer's Disease: Mechanisms and Nutritional Aspects

Blood glucose homeostasis is well maintained by coordinated control of various hormones including insulin and glucagon as well as cytokines under normal conditions. However, chronic exposure to diabetic environment with high fat/high sugar diets and physical/mental stress can cause hyperglycemia, one of main characteristics of insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and diabetes. Hyperglycemia impairs organogenesis and induces organ abnormalities such as cardiac defect in utero. It is a risk factor for the development of metabolic diseases in adults. Resulting glucotoxicity affects peripheral tissues and vessels, causing pathological complications including diabetic neuropathy, nephropathy, vessel damage, and cardiovascular diseases. Moreover, chronic exposure to hyperglycemia can deteriorate cognitive function and other aspects of mental health. Recent reports have demonstrated that hyperglycemia is closely related to the development of cognitive impairment and dementia, suggesting that there may be a cause-effect relationship between hyperglycemia and dementia. With increasing interests in aging-related diseases and mental health, diabetes-related cognitive impairment is attracting great attention. It has been speculated that glucotoxicity can result in structural damage and functional impairment of brain cells and nerves, hemorrhage of cerebral blood vessel, and increased accumulation of amyloid beta. These are potential mechanisms underlying diabetes-related dementia. Nutrients and natural food components have been investigated as preventive and/or intervention strategy. Among candidate components, resveratrol, curcumin, and their analogues might be beneficial for the prevention of diabetes-related cognitive impairment. The purposes of this review are to discuss recent experimental evidence regarding diabetes and cognitive impairment and to suggest potential nutritional intervention strategies for the prevention and/or treatment of diabetes-related dementia.
백서에서 식품 복합물 의 TB001 단회 경구투여 독성 시험 연구

Objectives: This study was performed to investigate single oral dose toxicity of TB001, the extract mixture of Purple loosestrife and Aceriphyllum rossii. Methods: The mortality, general symptom, change of weight, and necropsy findings was investigated for 14 days after a dose(2000 mg/kg B.W.) of TB001 was given, using SD rats of both male and female according to “The guideline of toxicity test for medicine and others”. Results: The death of rats and abnormal finding was not observed. There was no the significant difference of weight between control group and TB001 group. Conclusions: The abnormalities at the necropsy finding of all survived rats was not detected. The study suggested that there is no toxicity in single dose(2000 mg/kg B.W.) of TB001.
