        Kidney Toxicity Induced by 13 Weeks Exposure to the Fruiting Body of Paecilomyces sinclairii in Rats

        Paecilomyces sinclairiis (PS) is known as a functional food or human health supplement. However concerns have been raised about its kidney toxicity. This study was performed to investigate the kidney toxicity of PS by 13 week-oral administration to rats. Blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine, and kidney damage biomarkers including beta-2-microglobulin (${\beta}2m$), glutathione S-transferase alpha (GST-${\alpha}$), kidney injury molecule 1 (KIM-1), tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase 1 (TIMP-1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), calbindin, clusterin, cystatin C, neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) and osteopontin were measured during or after the treatment of PS. BUN, creatinine and kidney damage biomarkers in serum were not changed by PS. However, kidney cell karyomegaly and tubular hypertrophy were observed dose-dependently with higher severity in males. KIM-1, TIMP-1 and osteopontin in kidney and urine were increased dose dependently in male or at the highest dose in female rats. Increased urinary osteopontin by PS was not recovered at 2 weeks of post-exposure in both genders. Cystatin C in kidney was decreased at all treatment groups but inversely increased in urine. The changes in kidney damage biomarkers were more remarkable in male than female rats. These data indicate that the PS may provoke renal cell damage and glomerular filtration dysfunction in rats with histopathological lesions and change of kidney damage biomarkers in kidney or urine. Kidney and urinary KIM-1 and cystatin C were the most marked indicators, while kidney weight, BUN and creatinine and kidney damage biomarkers in serum were not influenced.

      • 전류제어형 PWM 컨버터를 이용한 On-Line 무정전 전원장치에 관한 연구

        Recently, according to the increasing critical loads such as commutation system, life support system in hospital, Computer, the supplying of stable power becomes more and more important. However line fault such as power failure, the variation of voltage or frequency frequently occurs since Utility supplies power to many kinds of loads through the same transmission line. Therefore it is indespensable to stabilize power source like UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply). UPS system is divided into of-line type and on-line system is studied which can improve various drawbacks of off-line system. And the application of PWM converter to on-line UPS system is proposed and the PWM converter of input characteristics is investigated. As current control method, triangular method is adopted and PI controller is used for DC voltage regulation. And RMS control method is used for PWM inverter. This system is verified by digital simulation using ACSL package.

      • 반도체 레이저로 펌핑하는 Nd:YVO₄레이저와 Cr:YAG 결정을 이용한 수동형 Q-Switching 특성

        We report the characteristics of laser diode pumped Nd:YVO₄laser and its passive Q-Switching by using a Cr:YAG crystal. We have investigated the effects of cavity length of the Nd:YVO₄laser, pumping power of the laser diode, and transmission of the Cr:YAG crystal on the repetition rate and the width of Q-Switchied pulses. The periodic doubling phenomena were observed not only in the Q-Switchied pulses but also in the intracavity Q-Switching second harmonics which were generated by using a KTP nonlinear crystal.

      • Electrophoresis에 의한 무 發芽時 子葉內의 蛋白質 및 Peroxidase의 變化에 關한 硏究

        무 발아시의 종자 저장단백질과 isoperoxides의 변화를 전기영동을 이용하여 조사하였다. 단백질은 14% SDS-Polyarylamide를 사용하여 파종 후 1일부터 8일까지의 변화를 조사하였고, isoperoxides는 10% Polyacrylmide를 사용하여 종자와 파종 후 2,5,9,11 및 13일경의 상태를 조사하였던 바 무의 저장단백질은 분자량이 32kDa와 30.5kDa, 27.5kDa의 3가지 polypeptides로 추정되며, 저장단백질은 파종 후 3일경에는 소화작용이 끝나 대부분이 저 분자량의 polypeptides로 변하는데, 32kDa의 polypeptides가 먼저 분해되었다. 파종 후 5일경에는 子葉이 완전히 전개된 상태로 대부분의 저장단백질이 소모되는 것으로 추정된다. Peroxidase는 파종 후 5일경과, 파종 후 9일경에 동위효소의 수가 변하는데 이는 자엽의 동화작용이 시작하는 시기와 자엽이 노화하는 것과 연관이 있는 것 같다. 파종후 7일 된 무 苗에 4℃에서 5일간 저온 처리하여 이들의 단백질의 변화와 peroxidase의 활성을 조사한 결과 Peroxidase는 저온처리로 동위효소의 수가 증가하였다. 단백질은 저온처리 한 개체와 저온처리하지 않은 개체간에 매우 적은 변화만 보였다. The changes of storage protein and isoperoxidase of radish cotyledons during germination was studied. Storage protein was separated with 14% SDS-polyacry1amide. Isoperoxidase was separated with 10% polyacrylamide. The radish seedling's storage protein was extracted every day from 1 to 8 days after sowing. Isoperoxidse of seeds and seedlings of 2,5,9,11 and 13 days after sowing was extracted. And 7-day old seedlings of radish were transferred to 4℃ for 5 days, and the changes of isoperoxidase and protein banding pattern were also studied. The molecular weight of storage protein of radish seeds were approximately 32kDa, 30.5kDa, and 27.5kDa respectively. The invertion of storage protein of radish seeds to low molecular weight polypeptides finished about 3 days after sowing when the root hair begin to emerge. 32kDa polypeptides was inverted to lower molecular weight polypeptides more faster than 27.5kDa and 30.5kDa polypeptides. It seems that storage protein of radish seeds almost consumed about 5 days after sowing when the cotyledons of radish has expended fully. The numbers of isoperoxidase changed 5 days and 9 days after sowing, respectively. The cotyledons of radish begins to greenish at 5 days after sowing and becomes yellowish 9 days after sowing. Isoperoxidases were increased by low temperature treatment. But the changes of protein banding bettern between the seedlings treated with low temperature and the seedlings nontreated with low temperature was not clear.

        We have made numerical analysis of rate equations for the intracavity second harmonics of ND:YAG laser pumped by laser diode. We can see the very on-off intermittency in the output of the second harmonics when small modulations are applied to laser diode.

      • 솔라에어콘 시스템을 위한 4상한 PWM 컨버터의 적용에 관한 연구

        Solar airconditioning system can be a mean to suppress the increase of power peak value in the summer. Generally this system uses the diode rectifier which is simple but the reverse power flow can not be made. It can derate the utilization of solar cell. In addition there have occurred the problem of low power factor and plentiful harmonics at the AC side. Therefore for the purposes of peak power cutting in the summer, bidirectional power flow, unity power factor and low harmonics the 4-quadrant PWM converter should be applied to the solar air conditioner. This paper mainly deals with the characteristic analysis about steady state and transient state of PWM converter for application to solar air conditioning system. As the results of steady state, obtained are the applied characteristics of PWM converter such as low current harmonics, unity power factor. Also through the step response and the power reversal test, the feasibility of the proposed system is verified.
