When we use computer in learning, computer may provide us with environment that existing teachers cannot give. That is computer learning plays a great part in increasing learning-efficiency in terms of inducing student's interests, possibility of immediate feedback and providing highly individuailized learning process. This paper mentions contents of Nature textbook for primary school using multimedia-based CAI software. Our system uses KAS as authoring tools, induce student's interest making good use of sound, graphics, animation provided by KAS and attempt to increase learning-efficiency. Learning contents consists of four parts, body structure, digestive organ, circulation organ, sensory organ. Also Our system selects and proposes problems randomly then can help self-evaluate learning-efficiency.
Effects of Moxibustion to Zusanli(ST36) on Alteration of Natural Killer Cell Activity in Rats

Moxibustion is one of the major healing techniques in Oriental medicine. It has been widely used in many diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto disease, breech presentation, etc. However, till now, effects of moxibustion on natural killer (NK) cell activity and relations between sympathetic nerve system (SNS) and the immune alteration induced by moxibustion wert not well studied. This study was designed to evaluate effects of moxibustion on NK cell activity and the Intervention of SNS in the alteration of NK cell activity induced by moxibustion. Splenic NK cell cytotoxicity was measured in a standard 4-hour ^(51)Cr release assay. We measured the NK cell cytotoxicity after moxibustion stimulation for 1, 3, 5 and 7 days, and also measured the NK cell cytotoxicity after 3 and 7 days burn stimulation with similar temperature. Interleukin (IL)-2, -4 and interferon (INF)-γ in serum were measured by rat IL-2, -4 and INF-γ ELISA test kit. To evaluate the effects of sympathectomy on alteration of NK cell cytotoxicity, 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA: 50 mg/kg) was used. We showed that NK cell activity of moxibustion stimulation group incrcased at the 3rd day, and declined at the 7th day in comparison with that of the control group. In thc moxibustion stimulation group, NK cell activity was significantly higher than the sham group at the 3rd day. On the contrary, in the burn stimulation group, NK cell activity was significantly higher than that of the sham groups at 3rd and 7th days. INF-γ level after 3 days in the moxibustion stimulation group was significantly higher than that of the sham group. IL-2 Ievel among groups were not different. IL-4 was not detected in serum with this method. Sympathectomy abolished the NK cell activity alteration induced by moxibustion. The results suggest that moxibustion modulates NK cell activity, along with INF-γ, and SNS is mediating these effects.
Protective Effects of <i>Lithospermum erythrorhizon</i> Against Cerulein-Induced Acute Pancreatitis

<P><B>Objectives</B></P><P>We aimed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory and inhibitory effects of <I>Lithospermum erythrorhizon</I> (LE) on cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis (AP) in a mouse model.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Acute pancreatitis was induced via intraperitoneal injection of cerulein (50 μg/kg) every hour for 6 times. In the LE, water extract (100, 250, or 500 mg/kg) was administered intraperitoneally 1 hour before the first injection of cerulein. Six hours after AP, blood, the pancreas, and the lung were harvested for further examination. In addition, pancreatic acinar cells were isolated using a collagenase method, and then, we investigated the acinar cell viability and cytokine productions.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Treatment with LE reduced pancreatic damage and AP-associated lung injury and attenuated the severity of AP, as evidenced by the reduction in neutrophil infiltration, serum amylase and lipase levels, trypsin activity, and proinflammatory cytokine expression. In addition, treatment with LE inhibited high mobility group box 1 expression in the pancreas during AP. In accordance with in vivo data, LE inhibited the cerulein-induced acinar cell death, cytokine productions, and high-mobility group box 1 expression. Furthermore, LE also inhibited the activation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>These results suggest that LE plays a protective role during the development of AP by inhibiting the activation of p38.</P>

A number of approximate techniques have been proposed to calculate the eigenvalues in a reduced manner. These schemes approximate the lower eigenvalues that represent the global behavior of the structures. But, the reduction methods are not efficient to be applied to large scale problems. The selection of the primary degrees of freedom might be localized causing the excessive emphasis of the lower mode or lost of the important modes. Moreover, it takes considerable amount of computing time for the construction of the reduced system in large-scale problem. This paper proposes the reduced system combined with the sub-structuring scheme based on the primary degrees of freedom. For the construction of the final reduced system, the system of each domain subdivided into primary, slave and interface degrees of freedom It is remarkably efficient in computing time accurate compared to full-scale system. Numerical examples demonstrate that the proposed method saves computational cost effectively and provides a reduced system which predicts the accurate eigenpairs of global system.

만성 심부전 환자에게 새로운 경구용 비 digitalis 강심제인 denopamine 1T(5mg)을 1일 3회 3개월간 투여하여 그 유효성 및 안전성을 검토했다. Background : Patients with congestive heart failure have a high mortality rate and are also hospitalized frequently. We studied the effects of a new oral inotrophic agent, denopamine in patients with chronic heart failure. Methods : 16 patients receiving conventional treatments for heart failure were treat ed with denopamine 5mg tad for at shortest 3 months. Their history were taken and the physical examination, general laboratory test and the echocardiographic examination were done before and after treatment. Results: There were 3 deaths and 1 withdrawal because of worsening heart failure. 5 patients (42%) among 12 patients showed the improvement in their subjective symptoms. The fractional shortening and ejection fraction of the left ventricle were increased by 3.2% and 5.6% respectively in their absolute values. Conclusion : The addition of denopamine to conventional therapy considerably improved the subjective symptoms and the left ventricular function in the limited number of patients with chronic heart failure.
The Physical Map of the Chloroplast DNA from Korean Ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer)

To compare the gene order of the chloroplast genome among dicotyledonous plants, we constructed a physical map of chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) of Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) with four restriction enzymes, Bam-HⅠ,HindⅢ, EcoRⅠ, and PstⅠ. The restriction enzyme recognition sites of the physical map were also confirmed by Southern hybridization of total ginseng cpDNA with homologous and heterologous probes. The cpDNA of Korean ginseng was determined as a circular molecule with a total size of about 154kb, which contain two inverted repeats of 23 kb each that disrupt the rest of the molecule into a large (90 kb) and a small single copy region (18 kb). The genome structure of korean ginseng cpDNA was similar in size and gene order to that of tobacco cpDNA. The cpDNA of Korean and American ginseng (P. quinquefolius) showed very similar restriction patterns.
