The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of demographic characteristics to job stress among security guards. The subjects in this study were 474 people selected by random cluster sampling from a population that consisted of private bodyguards and security guards from Seoul, Gyeonggi province and Daejeon. They gave a faithful response when a survey was conducted, and incomplete answer sheets from the others of the population were excluded. For data analysis, SPSS/PC Windows V11.0 program was utilized, and frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Scheffe posttest were employed. The findings of this study were as follows: First, the gender of the security guards investigated made a significant difference to their job satisfaction(p<.05). Job characteristics, compensation and organizational characteristics put higher strain on the men than on the women, and the latter group was more stressed out about their roles and interpersonal relations. Second, their age, education, years of services and monthly income made a significant difference to their job stress subvariables related to job characteristics, roles, human relations, compensation and organizational characteristics(p<01). Third, their job stress was significantly different according to their position and status(p<01). Specifically, those who had no position were under heavier pressure due to job characteristics, roles, interpersonal relations, compensation and organizational characteristics.
Evaluation of auditory and visual mismatch negativity in healthy subject

배경(Background): The mismatch negativity (MMN) is component of event-related potentials (ERPs). It occurs when an infrequent stimulus, a deviant, is unpredictably and randomly presented in a sequence of frequent visual & auditory stimuli, the standards, and is thought to reflect prediction error and prediction of sensory input. The present study was performed to evaluate whether mismatch negativities are useful tool for early sensor processing duration information in auditory and visual modalities. This experiment compared pre-attentive processing across visual and auditory modalities. 방법(Methods): Data for 16 variables was collected to determine the MMN reference values. Altogether, healthy participants underwent scalp EEG recordings during the delivery of a two-tone passive auditory paradigm (Pure tones : 85% standards, 15% deviants) and visual oddball paradigm (Bar types : standard [horizontal shaded bar] 80% and deviant [vertical shaded bar] 20%). The negativity activities elicited by deviant compared with standard stimulus probability at central & posterior-occipital lobe. We were measured pre-attentive processing of duration information using a deviant-standard oddball paradigm for auditory and visual mismatch negativity (aMMN and vMMN). Also, this study describes a visual modality of mismatch negativity when stimuli differ in duration. 결과(Results): We detected specific mismatch-negativity response In healthy subject. The auditory modality, aMMN were observed at N1, P2 latency and amplitude after the stimulus onset on MMN amplitudes at fronto-central & parieto-central areas whereas in the visual modality, vMMN different wave was observed at 120-150 & 205~225 ms after the onset of stimulus. The aMMN results are in close agreement with those of previous studies. Furthermore, This result of vMMN revealed that gender deferences were amplitude larger for female than for male. 결론 및 고찰(Conclusion & Discussion): The objective of this study was to investigate the aMMN and vMMN by individual features stimuli type. In Electro-encephalography(EEG) recording by various oddball paradigm, the following event can be explained. We concluded that MMN can be used to assess the integrity of pre-attentive processing in normal individuals and clinical populations, such as neuro-cognitive scientific subject.

Purpose: Recently, as the number of people who enjoy water sports life in river or lake easy to accessible are increasing, that of the patients who are injured in water sports also does gradually. We intend to investigate the type of the injured patients of water sports and the riskiness of the sports in this study. Methods: We retrospectively looked into the medical records of the patients who were injured in water sports and visited a general hospital in Gangwondo-province from 2010 to 2015. Results: Total 146 patients came to the hospital during six years. Patients mostly occurred at younger ages, in summer, and on holidays, rather than weekdays. The most common lesions of injuries were faces (53 patients). The most common types of injuries were contusions (62 patients), followed by fractures (32 patients) and lacerations (26 patients). The most frequent fracture sites were the upper extremities (11 patients). Most of the trauma patients were mild, but a small number of patients with aspiration pneumonia occurred and their severity was higher than trauma patients. Conclusions: In this study, facial injuries were most frequent in water sports injuries. In the fractures, upper extremities were the most common fractured lesions. In addition, even if there is no direct trauma, aspiration pneumonia is serious, so caution should be taken with protective equipment suitable for water sports.

<P>Many volatile compounds, such as isoprene, a precursor used in the synthesis of natural rubber, have been produced through fermentation using genetically engineered microorganisms. Despite this biotechnological success, measuring the concentrations of volatile compounds during fermentation is difficult because of their high volatility. In current systems, off-line analytical methods usually lead to product loss, whereas on-line methods raise the production cost due to the requirement of complex devices. Here, we developed a novel on-line gas chromatography (GC)-based system for analyzing the concentration of isoprene with the aim to minimize the cost and requirement for devices as compared to current strategies. In this system, a programmable logic controller is used to combine conventional GC with a syringe pump module (SPM) directly connected to the exhaust pipe of the fermentor, and isoprene-containing samples are continuously pumped from the SPM into the GC using an air cylinder recycle stream. We showed that this novel system enables isoprene analysis during fermentation with convenient equipment and without the requirement of an expensive desorption tube. 배경(Background): Memory deficit or cognitive impairment is an inclusive term to describe any characteristic that acts as a barrier to the cognition process. This study provides a non-invasive tool for evaluating patients with cognitive dysfunctions. The mistmatch negativity (MMN) component of event-related brain potentials (ERPs) has become a very popular tool to study auditory functions. The MMN measurement enables one to gain insights into neurobiological substrate of central auditory processing, particularly auditory memory, as well as various attention-related processes of controlling the access of auditory input into conscious perception and higher forms of memory. Moreover, MMN amplitude reduction to duration deviant tones was found to be related to the neuropsychological (working memory and verbal domains) and psychosocial functional outcomes. The present study focused on the relationship between MMN, and cognitive and memory impairment in patients with neuropsychiatric disorders. 방법(Methods): Twenty-six memory & cognitive deficit patients and 16 healthy controls underwent scalp EEG recordings during the delivery of a two-tone passive auditory paradigm (Pure tones; 85% standards [1 kHz, 80 dB], 15% frequency deviants [1.2 kHz, 80 dB]), and an electro-neuropsychological examination. Patients were assessed in regard to clinical symptoms. We measured N1, P2 latency and amplitude (deviant, standard sound response and difference value) at Midline (Fz, FCz, Cz, CPz, Pz) among ERP-MMN. 결과(Results): ERP-MMN waveforms makes it feasible to identify central auditory processing changes and cognitive, speech, and working memory impairment in patients with neuropsychiatric disorders. Compared to those of healthy controls, patients showed significantly reduced MMN amplitudes and shortened latency; impaired memory and cognitive function; and poorer tone matching performance. Cognitive deficits may be congenital or acquired secondarily by brain injuries, mental illness, or other neurological disorders. The MMN may be useful for understanding components of cognition in 고찰(Discussion): various disorders. Our study demonstrated decreased MMN amplitude and shortened latency their association with positive symptoms in patients with memory and cognitive impairment. These findings confirm and extend previous studies regarding impaired basic sensory processing in neurophysiological disorders and explain early sensory processing dysfunction in cognitive impairments. However, further investigation on larger scale is needed to ensure the statistical significance. In addition, future study should consider the use of more diverse paradigms to allow a more detailed understanding of sensory deficit.

본 연구에서는 30명의 건강한 성인을 대상으로 승마시뮬레이터 운동시 팔의 자세에 따른 다리근육의 근활성도 변화를 알아보았다. 그 결과 손잡이를 잡고 승마를 타는 자세 보다 팔을 모으고 타는 자세에 서 모음근의 근활성도가 증가하였다.
The role of prophylactic cerclage in preventing preterm delivery after the conization

Objective: Although prophylactic cervical cerclage early in pregnancy has been performed to prevent preterm delivery (PTD) in women with a history of conization, its efficacy has not been well determined. The aim of this study is to investigate if there is a difference in the frequency of the PTD between pregnancies with or without prophylactic cerclages. Methods: We identified women who had their first singleton delivery after conization between 2013 and 2018 using customized information from National Health Insurance Service claims database. To identify baseline characteristics of the patients, we only included women who had taken the National Health Screening Examination program, which includes a health examination and interview, within two years before delivery. To differentiate prophylactic from non-prophylactic cerclage, we categorized cerclage patients into two groups using the timing of maternal serum alpha feto-protein (AFP) test: prophylactic (before) vs non-prophylactic (after the AFP test). The frequency of PTD and other pregnancy outcomes were compared. Results: A total of 3,074 women were included in the analysis. Compared to no cerclage group (n=2,086), the risks for preterm labor (PTL), premature rupture of membranes (pPROM), and PTD, antibiotics and tocolytics use, cesarean delivery, number of admissions before delivery and low birth weight were higher in cerclage group (n=988). After categorizing subjects having information regarding the timing of AFP testing into two groups, we found that there was no difference in the frequency of PTD between prophylactic (n=621) and no cerclage group (n=1,644). However, PTL, and pPROM, antibiotics and tocolytics use, cesarean delivery, and number of admissions were more frequent in prophylactic cerclage group. Conclusion: The data suggest that prophylactic cerclage in pregnancy with a history of conization does not prevent PTD but increases the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes.
