무배란성 불임환자에 있어서 골반 초음파 추적조사에 의한 Gonadotropin 치료
이두룡,김덕만,조치흠 啓明大學校 醫科大學 1990 계명의대학술지 Vol.9 No.3
Ovarian follicular growth was monitored by ultrasound. Ovulatioin induction in 25 cycles of 13 anovulatory infertility patients were performed. These women were treated with clomiphene citrate, human menopausal gonadotropin(hMG) and human chorionic gonadotropin(hCG) for anovulatry infertility. The amount of gonadotropins administered were based exclusively on the results of the ultrasound examiinations. Twelve pregnancies were obtained. with 12 singletons, resulting in accumulative pregnancy rate about 92.3%. Ultrasoound can be helpful in the determination of the best time for induction of ovulation and effectively to control gonadotropin therapy in the majority of cases.
Client/Server 기반 멀티미디어 교수설계 프로그램에 관한 연구

To adjust ourselves to the information society, we are in need of a new educational paradigm. The information society is supposed to promote overall changes in the object, content and methods of education. To satisfy the demands in the information society, according to the learners' demands and needs, various kinds of learning materials, such as letters, sounds, pictures, animation, and abundant information infra should be offered. As instructors teach the students in classroom, lots of contents should be given to design the contents in various ways. Especially handy and standardized instructional producing tools to tie various kinds of contents together should be developed. We need the tools to develop the contents. Thus, the purpose of this paper is that, if teachers have their own knowledge of their major subjects in order to design multimedia teaching-plan easily, multimedia teaching-plan with a database driven management system should be projected and constructed, and the educable authoring tool (Multimedia Teaching Plan Program Based on Client/Server) should be embodied with both standardized intellectual presentation and an authoring tool for educational materials.

Surface plasmon resonance has been used for a biospecific interaction analysis between two macromolecules in real time. Determination of an antibody that is capable of specifically interacting with the native form of antigen is very useful for many biological and medical applications. Twenty monoclonal antibodies against the $\alpha$ subunit of E. coli DNA polymerase III were screened for specifically recognizing the native form of protein using surface plasmon resonance. Only four monoclonal antibodies among them specifically recognized the native $\alpha$ protein, although all of the antibodies were able to specifically interact with the denatured $\alpha$ subunit. These antibodies failed to interfere with the interaction between the $\tau$ and $\alpha$ subunits that were required for dimerization of the two polymerases at the DNA replication fork. This real-time analysis using surface plasmon resonance provides an easy method to screen antibodies that are capable of binding to the native form of the antigen molecule and determine the biological interaction between the two molecules.

The spontaneous regression of herniated cervical discs is not a well-established phenomenon. However, we encountered a case of a spontaneous regression of a severe radiculopathic herniated cervical disc that was treated with acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and herb medicine. The symptoms were improved within 12 months of treatment. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) conducted at that time revealed marked regression of the herniated disc. This case provides an additional example of spontaneous regression of a herniated cervical disc documented by MRI following non-surgical treatment.
Neurotoxicity of microglial cathepsin D revealed by secretome analysis
Kim, Sangseop,Ock, Jiyeon,Kim, Ae Kyung,Lee, Ho Won,Cho, Je-Yoel,Kim, Deok Ryong,Park, Jae-Yong,Suk, Kyoungho Raven Press [etc.] 2007 Journal of neurochemistry Vol.103 No.6
<P>Abstract</P><P>Microglia-driven inflammatory responses have both neuroprotective and neurotoxic effects in the CNS. The excessive and chronic activation of microglia, however, may shift the balance towards neurotoxic effects. In this regard, proteins secreted from activated microglia likely play a key role in the neurotoxic effects. To characterize secreted proteins of activated microglia, conditioned media obtained from BV-2 mouse microglia cells were analyzed by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis or liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry. Among many proteins identified in the secretome of activated microglia, an aspartic endoprotease cathepsin D has been found to mediate microglial neurotoxicity based on the following results: (i) the expression of cathepsin D protein was markedly increased in lipopolysaccharide/interferon-&ggr;-stimulated microglia compared with resting microglia as determined by western blot analysis of conditioned media; (ii) knockdown of cathepsin D expression in microglia using short hairpin RNA diminished the neurotoxicity in the coculture of microglia and neuroblastoma cells and (iii) recombinant procathepsin D protein exerted cytotoxic effects toward cultured neurons. In conclusion, cathepsin D appears to play a central role in the microglial neurotoxicity, and could be a potential biomarker or drug target for the diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases that are associated with excessive microglial activation and subsequent neurotoxic inflammation.</P>
Recombination Activating Gene 1 Product Alone Possesses Endonucleolytic Activity
Kim, Deok-Ryong Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2003 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.36 No.2
Two lymphoid-specific proteins, RAG1 and RAG2, are required for the initiation of the V(D)J recombination in vitro. The V(D)J cleavage that is mediated by RAG proteins at the border between the coding and signal sequences results in the production of a hairpin at the coding end and a double-stranded break at the signal end. Two hairpin coding ends are re-opened, modified, and sealed; whereas, the signal ends are directly ligated. Here I report that only RAG1 can carry out a distinct endonucleolytic activity in vitro using an oligonucleotide substrate that is tethered by a short single-stranded DNA. The purified RAG1 protein alone formed a nick at the near position to the recombination signal sequence. This endonucleolytic activity was eliminated by immunoprecipitation using the RAG1-specific antibody, and required the 3'-hydroxy group. All of the RAG1 mutants that were incapable of the nick and hairpin formation in the V(D)J cleavage analysis also showed this new endonucleolytic activity. This suggests that the nicking activity that was observed might be functionally different from the nick formation in the V(D)J cleavage.

All subjects underwent autonomic function tests. Nineteen of the patients (54.3%) underwent videonystagmography.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Diabetic autonomic neuropathy was observed in 28 patients (80%). A mild degree of autonomic failure was observed in 18 patients (64.3%), and a moderate degree of autonomic failure was observed in ten patients (35.7%). Factors related to DAN included diabetic nephropathy (<I>P</I>=0.032), degree of chronic kidney disease (<I>P</I>=0.003), and duration of diabetes (<I>P</I>=0.044). Vestibular dysfunction was observed in 11 of 19 patients (57.9%). There was no significant association between DAN and VD.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Diabetic autonomic neuropathy was observed in 28 diabetic patients (80%) with peripheral neuropathy. Vestibular dysfunction was observed in nearly 60% of diabetic patients with peripheral neuropathy who complained of dizziness but showed no significant association with DAN. Diabetic patients who complained of dizziness need to examine both autonomic function and vestibular function.</P>
