Almost splitting sets in integral domains, II
Anderson, David F.,Chang, Gyu Whan North-Holland Pub. Co 2007 Journal of pure and applied algebra Vol.208 No.1
<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Let D be an integral domain. A saturated multiplicative subset S of D is an <I>almost splitting set</I> if, for each 0≠d∈D, there exists a positive integer n=n(d) such that dn=st for some s∈S and t∈D which is v-coprime to each element of S. We show that every upper to zero in D[X] contains a primary element if and only if D∖{0} is an almost splitting set in D[X], if and only if D is a UMT-domain and Cl(D[X]) is torsion. We also prove that D[X] is an almost GCD-domain if and only if D is an almost GCD-domain and Cl(D[X]) is torsion. Using this result, we construct an integral domain D such that Cl(D) is torsion, but Cl(D[X]) is not torsion.</P>
SPLITTING MULTIPLICATIVE SETS IN DEDEKIND DOMAINS
Anderson, David-F.,Park, Jeanam Korean Mathematical Society 2001 대한수학회보 Vol.38 No.2
Let D be a Dedekind domain with divisor class group Cl(D). We show that there is a correspondence between the set of splitting multiplicative subsets in D and certain subgroups of Cl(D).
Weakly $(m,n)$-closed ideals and $(m,n)$-von Neumann regular rings
David F. Anderson,Ayman Badawi,Brahim Fahid 대한수학회 2018 대한수학회지 Vol.55 No.5
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with $ 1 \neq 0$, $I$ a proper ideal of $R$, and $m$ and $n$ positive integers. In this paper, we define $I$ to be a weakly $(m,n)$-closed ideal if $ 0\neq x^{m}\in I$ for $x \in R$ implies $x^{n} \in I$, and $R$ to be an $(m,n)$-von Neumann regular ring if for every $x \in R$, there is an $r \in R$ such that $x^mr = x^n$. A number of results concerning weakly $(m, n)$-closed ideals and $(m,n)$-von Neumann regular rings are given.
WEAKLY (m, n)-CLOSED IDEALS AND (m, n)-VON NEUMANN REGULAR RINGS
Anderson, David F.,Badawi, Ayman,Fahid, Brahim Korean Mathematical Society 2018 대한수학회지 Vol.55 No.5
Let R be a commutative ring with $1{\neq}0$, I a proper ideal of R, and m and n positive integers. In this paper, we define I to be a weakly (m, n)-closed ideal if $0{\neq}x^m\;{\in}I$ for $x{\in}R$ implies $x^n{\in}I$, and R to be an (m, n)-von Neumann regular ring if for every $x{\in}R$, there is an $r{\in}R$ such that $x^mr=x^n$. A number of results concerning weakly(m, n)-closed ideals and (m, n)-von Neumann regular rings are given.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. LEWIS As Class Material for EFL Studentse
Chad David Anderson,Park Jin-woo 통섭인문학회 2022 통섭인문학 Vol.1 No.2
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a children’s literature classic also important to the fantasy genre. British author C.S. Lewis’ most widely read work, it combines realistic and relatable situations with fantastic elements that spur creativity and engage young students at a deeper level. The reviewers have discovered that children find it intrinsically interesting. The main characters are easy for readers to identify with, of different ages, girls and boys. The English is easy but engaging for young EFL learners who are motivated by the creative and fantastical setting combined with relatable elements. In connection with scaffolding and various extensions, it is appropriate for a wide range of ages and language levels.

The English tense and aspect system has long posed great difficulty to second language (L2) learners due to their underlying complex concepts. This difficulty is compounded by oversimplified grammatical descriptions found in many ELT textbooks. Cognitive Grammar (CG) offers comprehensive accounts of tenses that could be useful for learners. This paper reports a quasiexperimental study investigating the differential effects of CG-informed form-focused instruction and formalist-traditional form-focused instruction on the acquisition of two English tenses, namely the simple past and the past perfect. Secondary school EFL learners (final pool: N = 36) were assigned to two groups (CG and Traditional). Learners in the CG group were exposed to CG-grounded grammatical descriptions of the tenses while learners in the traditional group received traditional accounts. Both groups performed awareness-raising tasks to enhance learning. Data were gathered from the learners’ performance in a cloze narrative task. Results from an immediate post-test revealed that CG-based descriptions helped learners improve significantly and outperform learners in the traditional group. These findings indicate the superiority of a CG approach to a formalist approach to teaching the tenses and lend support to the applicability and efficacy of CG-grounded form-focused instruction in the classroom.

<P>Bottom-up proteomics (analyzing peptides that result from protein digestion) has demonstrated capability for broad proteome coverage and good throughput. However, due to incomplete sequence coverage, this approach is not ideally suited to the study of modified proteins. The modification complement of a protein can best be elucidated by analyzing the intact protein. 2-DE, typically coupled with the analysis of peptides that result from in-gel digestion, is the most frequently applied protein separation technique in MS-based proteomics. As an alternative, numerous column-based liquid phase techniques, which are generally more amenable to automation, are being investigated. In this work, the combination of size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) fractionation with RPLC-Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance (FTICR)-MS is compared with the combination of RPLC fractionation with CIEF-FTICR-MS for the analysis of the Shewanella oneidensis proteome. SEC-RPLC-FTICR-MS allowed the detection of 297 proteins, as opposed to 166 using RPLC-CIEF-FTICR-MS, indicating that approaches based on LC-MS provide better coverage. However, there were significant differences in the sets of proteins detected and both approaches provide a basis for accurately quantifying changes in protein and modified protein abundances.</P>
