<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A continuous flow reaction system was developed for the synthesis of 2,2,2-trichloroacetophenone derivatives. When aryl propiolic acids and water were mixed with trichloroisocyanuric acid in DMF at 5 °C, the 2,2,2-trichloroacetophenone derivatives were formed within 5 min with good yields. In addition, the resulting mixture was flowed to react with amines to give the corresponding benzamide. <P>The Asian hard clam, <I>Meretrix petechialis</I>, is an economically important bivalve, but its catch and population sizes are decreasing rapidly, owing to many factors, including large-scale reclamation of its natural habitat on the western coast of the Korean peninsula. Attempts to restore the resources and production of this species require genetic structure and diversity information. In this study, we developed 15 microsatellite markers from a partial genomic library enriched in GT repeats. Nine of these markers were polymorphic, with an average allele number of six, and six were monomorphic in 95 tested individuals. No linkage disequilibrium was found between any pair of loci (<I>p</I> > 0.05), and deviations from the Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) test showing excess of heterozygotes was observed in only one of nine loci. In addition, no null alleles or genetic differentiation between two tested populations were detected. A cross-species amplification in 12 species of four families resulted in two <I>M. petechialis</I>-specific loci and three possible universal markers. This information will be useful in the future development of high-quality artificial seedlings and sustainable resource management.</P>

Objectives : This research was investigated to evaluate the psychological characteristics and changes of psychological state among dental orthodontic patients. Methods : This cross-sectional questionnaire research was conducted with 230 dental orthodontic patients in Busan from December 23, 2009 to March 6, 2010. The psychological analysis of dental orthodontic treatment patients was performed with Symptom checklist-90-revision(SCL-90-R) considering 5 general characteristics and 2 treatment period related characteristics. Estimated psychological results were changed T-score. Data analysis was performed with descriptive analysis, t-test and ANOVA using SAS(ver 9.1) program. Results : The levels of T-score of SCL-90-R were 43.88±7.50 in hostility(HOS), 43.38±4.64 in phobic anxiety(PHOB), 43.20±6.24 in somatization(SOM), 42.13±6.71 in paranoid ideation(PAR), 41.39±8.16 in interpersonal sensitive(I-S), 41.01±7.90 in obsessive-compulsive(O-C), 40.96±5.37 in psychoticism(PSY), 40.96±5.19 in anxiety(ANX) and 39.81±6.80 in depression(DEP), respectively. The T-score of phobic anxiety in before treatment group was higher than that of treatment groups. The T-score of interpersonal sensitive and paranoid ideation in over 36 months treatment period group were higher than that of other treatment period groups. Conclusions : Phobic anxiety(PHOB), interpersonal sensitive(I-S) and paranoid ideation(PAR) were affected in pre-treatment and long-term treatment dental orthodontic patients. Psychological management methods considering treatment period are needed to improve mental health of dental orthodontic patients.(J Korean Soc Dent Hygiene 2012;12(1):37-46)

Many scientific approaches have been developed for the preparation of alternative crosslinker system of amino resins and isocyanate prepolymers. Herein, copolymerization of trimethoxy silane with N-butoxymethyl acrylamide was performed, and the product was reacted with hydroxyl groups in the alkyl main chain without the need for an additional crosslinker. For the crosslinker synthesized herein, the molecular weight, glass transition temperature, and viscosity increased with increasing content of N-butoxymethyl acrylamide.
