        1. Twenty-one cases of brain abscess treated at the Department of Neurosurgery, Seoul National University Hospital during the past 10 years from 1958 through 1967 were studied clinically. 2. Fifty-seven percents of the cases studied were under the age of 20. The ratio between male and female was 2:1. 3. The most important of the known sources of the infection was the infection of the middle ear which was responsible for 57% of total cases. Among others paranasal sinusitis, subacute bacterial endocarditis, cellulitis in face, osteomyelitis in skull, and head trauma were included. 4. Bacterial culture was performed in 12 cases. In 4 cases staphylococci were isolated; iri other 2, streptococci; and in still other 2, proteus. 5. Temporal abscess was found in 13 cases; cerebellar in 2, occipital, in. 2, parietal in 2, and frontal in 1 One case had temporal epidural abscess. 6. Headache was by far the most constant and common symptom and was found in 90%. Among .others fever, vomiting, L-A nausea were included. As sings 14 patients had stIffneek; 5, hemiparesis; 5, convul- sion; 4, hemiplegia and 2, homonymous helnianopsia. Papilledema was found in 9 cases. 7. Level of consciousness was comatous in 3, cloudy in 6, and alert in 12. 8. The mortality in this study was 28.6 % and the operative mortality 22.2 %. All comatous patients expired.

        社會保護法上 保護監護의 問題點

        Als ein freiheitsentziehende Maßregel schreibt der Sozialschutzrecht eine Sicherungsverwahrung vor. Es ist umstritten, ob und wie die Sicherungsverwahrung gerechtfertigt werden kann. Dabei können Zweckmäßigkeitüberlegungen insofern eine Rolle spielen, als eine unzweckmäßige Freiheitsbeschränkung auch nicht zuläßig sein kann. Grundsätzlich verfolgt die Maßregeln den Zweck, künftigen Straftaten des Täters zu verhindern. Nach Abs. 1 Sozialschutzgesetz besteht der Zweck der Maßregeln darin, durch Verbesserung und Sicherung des Täters künftigen Straftaten zu vorbeugen und die Gesellschaft vor den weiteren Straftaten zu schutzen. Genau gesagt laßen Strafe und Sicherungsverwahrung auf der Vollzugebene nicht unterschieden werden, weil sich der Vollzug der Sicherungsverwahrung wie der der Strafe in bloßer Verwahrung des Täters erschöpft. Vom heutigen Stand der Prognoseforschung ist jedoch zweifel, ob genügend verläßliche Feststellungen und Aussagen immer erfolgen können und ob genügend qualifizierter Gutachter zur Verfügung stehen. Die Profnose, welche von individuellen Werthaltungen und Einstellungen beeinflußt wird, ist nicht verläßlich und darf nicht dem Gefahrurteil weiterer Straftaten zugrunde gelegt.       • 국가통계 품질측정을 위한 체계적 접근 -표본조사의 품질평가지표 개발을 중심으로

        국가통계의 활용도가 높아질수록 통계에 대한 객관적인 품질평가 필요성도 높아지게 된다. 과거에 대표적인 품질평가지표로 간주되어 온 평균제곱오차나 응답률은 유용성에 많은 문제가 있으므로 통계이용자의 다양한 요구사항을 반영할 수 있는 새로운 품질지표 개발의 필요성이 대두되었다. 따라 서 본 논문에 서는 정부기관에서 작성하고 있는 표본통계조사를 대상으로 통계작성 절차의 흐름을 분석하고 각 절차별 투입자료와 산출결과를 인식함으로써 최종 집계결과의 품질에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 절차별 품질지표를 개발하는 방법이 연구되었다. 또한 발굴된 절차별 품질지표에 다른 통계간 또는 동일 통계간 품질을 비교할 수 있도록 품질지수 산출방법이 논의되었다. As the utilization of official statistics has been recently increased, the necessity of objective quality assessment also has been increased. Since mean square error(MSE) and response rate, which have been . considered as representative quality indicators in the past, may have the limits of use, it has been demanded to develop new quality indicators which are able to reflect the various requirements of ~sers. In this paper, regarding sample surveys conducted by governmental agencies, the flow of procedures in statistics production is analyzed using input-output of each procedure. As the res It, how to identify and develop quality indicators for each procedure is discussed, with some instances of indicators. Finally, the quality index using the results of quality assessment would be calculated based on a weighting method by the size of deviation of statistical measures.

        The process of industrialization and advancement increased the local movement of population greatly with the rapid economic growth and promoted downward movement actively. Consequently, as juvenile delinquencies have been increased in quantity, organized in quality and violent and younger in criminal types, social concerns on the juvenile delinquencies have been increased and considered as a serious social problem. This study is on the roles of police in preventing juvenile delinquencies, examines the characteristics of the adolescence, understands the concept of juvenile delinquencies and analyzes the characteristics of juvenile delinquencies.Chapter 2 examines the concept of juvenile delinquent and the characteristics of juvenile delinquency with related theories, explores biological, psychological and social theories as the causes of juvenile delinquencies, investigates the roles of police in preventing juvenile delinquencies with the cases of polices in America, England and Japan and describes the roles of police taking charge of the juvenile affairs in Korea.Chapter 3 conducts questionnaire with police stations in Gwangju and Jeonnam as the actual analysis of juvenile delinquencies, examines the age, sex and cause of research subjects as the analysis of social and economic backgrounds, describes education, environment and activity of police in the analysis of services and roles of police and reviews the results of analyzing the governmental programs.Chapter 4 is conclusion, which suggests the active progress of juvenile related services in cooperation with home, school, private organizations, local governments and government for their protection and guidance through the analysis of theories and practices of juvenile delinquencies.

        조직범죄에 관한 고찰

        Organized crime has been one of the major social problems in Korea. The purpose of this study is to find reasonable a counterplot against organized crime in Korea. Organized crime has thus become a world phenomenon. Organized crime undermines the very foundations of the democratic order. organized crime poisons the business climate, corrupts political leaders and undermines human rights... Within societies, the triumph of organized crime is, more often than not, accompanied by a weakening of law and sometimes even by a return to the law of the jungle. In this research, the organized crime can be defined as a crime activity by organized group and the organized crime have connotation, organizations, organized activities. Since most organized crime goes unseen, the full extent of the political, social and economic threat it represents becomes apparent only slowly. organized crime have some different criteria than the traditional crime.The organized crime can not longer be trickled successfully using traditional police investigative methods. By legislation of the organized crime control act and money laundering, improve the investigative technique and perfect witness safety guard program and rationalized correctional systems are necessary cope with the organized crime.

        자금세탁방지를 위한 국제협력과 대응방안

        It has come to our attention that worldwide illegal money Laundering brought into serious question in relation to the criminal cases with drug-related money by drug-smuggling and illicit trade.In Korea, drug-related crimes, which seem to have a strong connection with foreign criminal rings, are continually increasing.It had been proved that a significant amount of illegally-washed money by the criminal rings was mainly used to reinvest or to offer bribes to government officials. Undoubtedly, these criminal practices will cause social disturbance.Therefore, it is strongly urged to prevent the inflow of a great sum of the illegal money yielded from any organizational or economic crimes into the local economic system and to take the penal countermeasures.The aim of this paper is to propose the countermeasures through legislation of the developed countries.
