Flavonols as a major kind of plant secondary metabolites are known for health-promoting compounds in onions (Allium cepa L.). The objectives of this study are to determine profiles of flavonol glycosides in different 75 onion accessions. A total of five flavonols (quercetin 3,4'- diglucoside, Q34'diG; quercetin 3-glucoside, Q3G; quercetin 4'-glucoside, Q4'G; isorhamnetin 4'-glucoside, I4'G; quercetin, Q) were identified from onion accessions. In positive ion mode using LC-ESI-MS, individual flavonols were confirmed from one and two glycosylation binding with aglycone such as quercetin and isorhamnetin. Total flavonol contents were distributed in white onion (range of 0.18-6.47 mg/g DW) and purple onion accessions (range of 2.39-6.47 mg/g), respectively. The mean of flavonol contents in purple onion (4.41 mg/g) showed 1.4-fold higher than white onion (3.23 mg/g). The Q34'diG and Q4'G were considered as the major compounds of flavonol glycosides in onion accessions.

Fresh edible sweet corns demand relatively short period to harvest fresh ears, which can allow farmers to make a choice sweet corns for various cropping systems. For this reason, we were to find the optimum planting date of late-planted sweet corns to sell fresh ears in the autumn linked to cropping system with winter crops, investigating yield and properties of marketable fresh ears and growth traits of sweet corns (cv. 'Godangok' and cv. 'Guseulok') depending on planting dates such as 10 July, 20 July, and 30 July in Suwon 2012 and 2013, respectively. The 20 July-planted sweet corns showed the most fresh ear yield. However, the 10 July-planted and the 30 July-planted had 32% less yield caused by consecutive rainfall from 10 July through 20 July, and 15% less yield due to low air temperature during ripening than the 20 July-planted, respectively. The 10 and 20 July-planted sweet corns had average 140g of a fresh ear weight and 15% heavier ear than the 30 July-planted. For the July-planted sweet corns, silking days after planting (r=-0.80**), and harvesting days after silking (r=-0.97**) and planting (r=-0.91**) were highly negatively correlated with daily mean air temperature during the period, resulting in it takes 1,100 growing degree days (GDD) to harvest fresh ears from the July-planted sweet corns. The fresh ears of the 20 July-planted sweet corns are able to be harvested by early October. Therefore it will be a good choice for the cropping system based on winter vegetable cash crops such as temperate garlic and onion with medium or late maturity. Among three planting dates 20 July-planted sweet corns had the best field performance in every year considering fresh ear yield, ear size, and stability to grow.
고추 유전자원의 카로티노이드 조성 및 ASTA color 지수 분석

Peppers (Capsicum annum L.) were harvested from 523 different genotypes cultivated at the Pepper Experiment Station in Gyeongsangbuk-do Agricultural Technology Administration of Yeongyang in the northeast region of Korea. The investigation of pepper with high carotenoids contents was quantitatively and qualitatively analysed by HPLC. The individual carotenoids were separated as capsanthin, lutein, zeaxanthin, β-cryptoxanthin, α-carotene and β-carotene by reverse-phase HPLC and identified with their external standards. The levels of total carotenoids and ASTA color values in 523 peppers were 0.5-84.8mg/100g of dry weight (DW) and 0.7-233.1, respectively. Individual carotenoid content and percentage of total carotenoid content were shown as follows: β-carotene (24.8%) (average 5.0 mg/100g DW) 〉 capsanthin (24.7%) (average 5.0 mg/100g DW) 〉 zeaxanthin (20.4%) (average 4.1 mg/100g DW) 〉 β-cryptoxanthin (14.8%) (average 3.0 mg/100g DW) 〉 lutein (13.3%) (average 2.7 mg/100g DW) 〉 α-carotene (2.0%) (average 0.4 mg/100g DW). As a result of plotting by using SIMCA, ASTA color values showed that the cluster is created.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to obtain comprehensive understanding of Korean middle-age men's experience in their andropause. The findings of this study will provide supportive data for development of nursing interventions. Methods: This study is explored by hermeneutic phenomenological analytic method suggested by van Manen. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with 7 middle aged men between July and September, 2017. Before the interviews, preliminary questionnaire was preformed for all participants. Results: The analysis produced five themes: 'My body is getting weaker than before', 'A sense of despondency with current life', 'Regarding andropause not as much important as menopause', 'The obscurity of one's life about andropause', 'Cut off andropause from life'. Conclusion: This study explored Korean middle-age men's experience in their andropause. Although most participants experienced physical and psychological symptoms, they denied that they are andropause. Moreover, they lacked knowledge and showed attitude of indifference. In addition, Andropause is not as commonly recognized in the society of Korea. Even if they perceive it, they cannot reveal the fact and respond poorly. It brings up the necessity to provide proper information and education. A variety of nursing interventions are also required for the men for their physical or mental recovery and health care. Therefore, this study offers the deep understanding of the significance and nature of the experience in andropause. Furthermore, this study may put foundation for development in nursing care of studies of this subject.
실시간 시뮬레이터를 활용한 철도차량 PMSM 제어시스템의 시계열 기반 안정도 추정

This paper deals with numerical analysis method for system stability, which is applied to the mathematical model of permanent magnet synchronous motor for railway vehicle as one of the application of real-time digital simulation. Specifically, this study deals with bifurcation numerical analysis, one of analytic method to study nonlinear dynamics of a system, for system design or its inspection technique of the system model. XPPAUT is used to analyze the electrical motion of this complex system, so it can introduce theoretical approach to design real-time computing environment based on OPAL-RT for electrification system parts of railroad vehicle model. Within the real-time simulation framework, the paper also provides time-series based system stability estimation by performing statistical processes for auto-regressive model construction. The proposed approach can reduplicate verification process by screen studying of the model for improvement during real-time simulation or further hardware-in-the-loop test system.
