        Robust Multi-person Tracking for Real-Time Intelligent Video Surveillance

        We propose a novel multiple-object tracking algorithm for real-time intelligent video surveillance. We adopt particle filtering as our tracking framework. Background modeling and subtraction are used to generate a region of interest. A two-step pedestrian detection is employed to reduce the computation time of the algorithm, and an iterative particle repropagation method is proposed to enhance its tracking accuracy. A matching score for greedy data association is proposed to assign the detection results of the two-step pedestrian detector to trackers. Various experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm tracks multiple objects accurately and precisely in real time.

        Development of a Tool to Automate One-Dimensional Finite Element Analysis of Machine Tool Spindles

        In this research, a tool was developed to automate one-dimensional finite element analysis (1D FEA) for design of a machine tool spindle. Based on object-oriented programing, this tool employs the objects of a CAD system to construct a geometric model and then to convert it into the FE model of 1D beams at the workbenches of the CAD system with minimum data to define the spindle such as bearing positions and cross-sections of the shaft. Graphic user interfaces were developed for users to interact with the tool. This tool is helpful in identifying a near optimal design of the spindle with the automation of the FEA process with numerous design changes in minimum time and efforts. It is also expected to allow even design engineers to perform the FEA in search of an optimal design of the machine tool spindle.

        수상 부유식 태양광발전 구조물의 구조적 성능 평가

        최근 화석연료의 과도한 소비로 인해 다양한 환경문제가 발생하고 있으며, 이에 대한 대안으로 신재생에너지의 중요성과 그에 대한 시설의 수요가 꾸준히 증가하고 있다. 이러한 수요를 만족하기 위하여, 다수의 태양광발전 구조물들이 건설, 계획되고 있다. 그러나 대부분의 태양광발전 시설들은 육지에 시공되고 있기 때문에 토지 이용에 따른 건설비의 증가와 토지 개간에 의한 추가적인 환경문제 등이 발생하고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 최근 국내에서는 FRP를 활용한 수상 부유식 태양광발전 구조물에 대한 연구를 지속적으로 수행하고 있다. FRP는 높은 강도와 내부식성 및 작은 단위중량 등의 장점을 가지고 있기 때문에 최근 토목분야에서 각광받고 있으며, 이러한 재료적 특성은 자중에 따라 부력체의 크기가 결정되는 수상 구조물에 특히 유용하다. 이 연구에서는 수상 부유식 태양광발전 구조물과 구조물을 구성하는 SMC FRP 수직재의 구조적 성능을 평가하기 위한 해석적, 실험적 연구를 수행하였다. 수상 부유식 태양광발전 구조물은 유한요소해석을 통해 정적거동을 평가하고, 실험을 통해 동적거동을 평가하였다. 또한 SMC FRP 수직재는 유한요소해석을 통해 구조안전성 및 좌굴안정성을 평가하였으며, 실험을 통해 압축 및 인발 하중에 대한 구조적 거동 특성을 검토하였다. 검토 결과 펄트루젼 FRP (pultruded FRP)와 SMC (Sheet Modoling Compound) FRP로 구성된 구조시스템은 외부하중에 대한 안전성을 확보하고 있음을 확인하였다. In recent years, numerous environmental problems associated with the excessive use of fossil fuel are taking place. For an alternative energy resource, the importance of renewable energy and the demands of facilities to generate renewable energy are continuously rising. To satisfy such demands, a large number of photovoltaic energy generation structures are constructed and planned with large scale. However, because these facility zones are mostly constructed on land, some troubles are occurred such as rising of construction cost due to the cost of land use, environmental devastation, etc. To solve such problems, the floating type photovoltaic energy generation system using FRP members have been developed in Korea. FRP members are recently available in civil engineering applications due to many advantages such as high strength, corrosion resistance, light weight, etc. and they are suitable to fabricate the floating structures because of their material properties. In this study, the analytical and experimental investigations to evaluate the structural performance of floating PV generation structure and SMC FRP vertical member which is used to fabricate the structure were conducted. The static and dynamic performances of floating PV generation structure are evaluated through the FE analysis and the experiment, respectively. Moreover, the structural safety evaluation and buckling analysis of SMC FRP vertical compression member are also conducted by the FE analysis, and the structural behavior of SMC FRP member under compression and pullout is investigated by the experiments. From this study, it was found that the structural system composed of pultruded FRP and SMC FRP members are safe enough to resist externally applied loads.

        건설공사 유해·위험방지계획서의 효과적 작성방안에 관한 연구

        The Safety Assessment for construction works is used in order to make the safety plans to protect calamities in construction sites. However in Korea it is problem that the Safety Assessment has strict and meaningless contents. So it is not used well. This study suggests the effectual making methods of the Safety Assessment to solve the problems which are found through investing serious calamities and interviewing experts.

        한국 동해 독도 주변 천해 및 사면해역의 대형저서동물군집

        The faunal assembalges of macrobenthos and their habitat conditions on the soft-bottoms around Dokdo(Dok Island) was investigated using a box corer and a van Veen grab in Sept. 1999 and May 2000. The sediments in the slope sites were composed of sand particles and those in Ullneung Basin were mud. The sediments in the shelf sites were in the range of fine to medium sand. The organic content of the slope sediments was in the range of 1 to 2%. The macrobenthos occurred at the slope sites represented by 15 faunal groups belonging to 8 phyla, and the major faunal group was polychaetous annelids. They comprised ca. 80.6% in slope sites, and 84.8% in shelf sites. Dominant species in the slope were Exogone verugera (40.9%), Cossura longocirrata (8.4%), Tharyx sp. (6.6%), Scalibregma inflatum (4.9%), Aedicira sp. (4.7%), Aricidea ramosa (3.8%), and Sigambra tentaculata (3.7%). Dominant species in the shelf were Chone sp. (49.3%), Tharyx sp. (18.4%), Ophelina acuminata (6.7%), Chaetozone setosa (3.8%), Glycera sp. (2.6%), and Aedicira sp. (2.4%). The mean densities of macrobenthos in the slope and shelf area were 2,028 ind./m2 and 456 ind./m2, respectively. The trophic composition of benthic polychaete worms in the slope area was different from that in shallow shelf area: surface deposit feeding worms were most abundant in slope area whereas filter feeding worms in shelf area. According to the cluster analysis and MDS plots, the spatial distribution of macrobenthos in Dokdo slope region was related with the sediment properties such as particle size and organic content. In the case of vertical distribution of macrobenthos in slope sites, most faunas concentrated in the upper sediment layer within 2 cm depth.

        EU의 전략적 동반자 관계 구축 현황과 한-EU 관계

        한국과 EU는 2010년 한-EU FTA와 한-EU 기본협력협정 개정안에 정식 서명함으로써 2009년 정상회담에서 합의한 바와 같이 양자 관계를 전략적 동반자 관계로 격상시키기 위한 법적⋅제도적 기반을 구축했다. EU는 2010년 현재 총 9개국과 전략적 동반자 관계 를 맺고 있어 한국은 EU의 10번째 전략적 동반자 국가가 된다. 전략적 동반자 관계의 의미는 다양하게 해석될 수 있으나 최근 EU 대외정책의 맥락에서 파악했을 때 이는 글로벌 이슈에 대한 공동 대응에 초점이 맞추어져 있는 것으로 보인다. 우리와는 개방적 시장 경제로서의 이익을 공유하고 있으며 민주주의, 인권, 법치, 시장경제 등을 존중하는 가치 동맹이기도 한 EU와의 전략적 동반자 관계 구축은 우리나라의 외교적 영향력 증대에 긍정적인 효과를 가져다 줄 것으로 기대된다. By signing a bilateral free trade agreement and a revised version of the Framework Agreement that renew the original 2001 pact, Korea and EU lay the institutional basis for developing a strategic partnership between the two parties. EU has established strategic partnership with nine countries around the world and Korea will be the tenth country that form a strategic partnership with EU. While there could be a variety of interpretation as to the meaning of ‘strategic partnership,’ it seems that the term implies forming a common front in coping with global issues in various fora. With its increasing political influence in the world stage that comes from its identity as a normative power, EU shares not only economic interests but also normative values with Korea and thus a strategic partnership with EU could be a great asset for Korea in meeting diverse diplomatic challenges.
