        Charge Storage in Redox-active Azurin Monolayer on 11-MUA Modified Gold Surface

        The charge storage in the protein-based biomemory consisting of P. aeruginosa azurin was investigated. Azurin was used as an electron donor or acceptor. To immobilize the azurin on the Au surface, 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid was used as a linker material. The azurin-immobilized biofilm on Au surface was optimized by surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy and the surface morphology of protein- based biofilm on Au surface was investigated by atomic force microscope. The memory device characteristics, including the “write”, “read” fuctions of the selfassembled azurin biofilm, were well demonstrated with two distinct electrical states of protein-based biofilms by cyclic voltammetry. From the results, it could be concluded that the azurin biofilm could be used for the construction of nanobiochip with memory function.

        Polyelectrolyte Multilayer Microcapsules:Self-Assembly and Toward Biomedical Applications

        Over the past few years, many studies have been performed involving the application of the Layer-by-Layer (LbL) deposition of oppositely charged polyelectrolytes onto charged colloidal particles, followed by the dissolution of the templates, ultimately resulting in polyelectrolyte multilayer microcapsules. The ease of preparation of polyelectrolyte multilayer microcapsules afforded by the LbL self-assembly technique, as well as the advantages of accurate control over size, composition, and the thickness of the multilayer shell make these capsules very promising for a number of applications in materials and biomedical science. In this review, we describe the assembly and stimuli-responsive properties (“smart” capsules) of polyelectrolyte multilayer microcapsules, and also discuss the potential of this technique in regard to biomedical applications. In addition, we illustrate two measurement techniques for determining the mechanical properties of polyelectrolyte multilayer microcapsules – (i) osmotic swelling and (ii) AFM compression experiments. These capsules are believed to have great potential for future applications, including biosensors, bioreactors, and carriers for targeted drug delivery.

        Charge trap in self-assembled monolayer of cytochrome b562-green fluorescent protein chimera

        The self-assembly layer consisting of fusion protein is investigated in molecular-scale for the construction of bioelectronic device.Cytochromeb562 and green uorescent protein were used as an electron acceptor and a sensitizer in the molecular layer by mim-icking the photosynthesis. Self-assembled monolayer of fusion protein was formed on Au coated glass. The formation of fusion pro-tein layer onto the Au substrate was observed by the surface plasmon resonance measurement. The surface of fusion protein layerwas observed and analyzed by the scanning tunneling microscopy observation. For embodiment of the molecular electronic device,molecular arrays of fusion protein SA layer were formed by micro contact printing. Surface charge distribution of fusion protein SAlayer was measured to conrm an electrical conductivity by electrostatic force microscopy observation.

        Mobile IPv6기반 Ad-Hoc 네트워크에서의 Internet Gateway를 통한 IP주소 자동 할당 방법

        A hybrid Ad-hoc network connected to the Internet needs an IP address configuration to communicate with the Internet. Most of proposed address autoconfiguration algorithms are node based. The node based address autoconfiguration algorithms waste bandwidth and consume much battery in mobile ad-hoc networks. In this paper, we propose the address allocation algorithm in hybrid Mobile ad-hoc network (MANET). The proposed algorithm reduces network traffic by transferring address configuration packet to the internet gateway by unicast method. Moreover, our IP address configuration algorithm also reduces battery consumption and address configuration time by decreasing number of configuration packets on internet gateway. 인터넷과 연결되어 있는 하이브리드 애드혹 네트워크가 통신을 하기 위해서는 IP주소의 설정이 필요하다. 기존에 제안된 대부분의 주소 설정방법은 노드를 중심으로 설정을 한다. 노드 중심의 주소 설정 방법은 애드혹 네트워크 내에서 네트워크의 대역폭을 낭비하고 많은 배터리를 소모해서 비효율적이다. 본 논문에서는 인터넷 게이트웨이를 중심으로 한 효율적인 주소설정방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법은 노드에서의 주소 설정 패킷을 유니캐스트 방식으로 전송하여 네트워크 트래픽을 줄인다. 또한, 인터넷 게이트웨이의 주소 설정 알고리즘을 통해서 교환하는 패킷의 수를 줄여 배터리 소모를 줄이고 주소설정 시간을 감소시킨다.

        Spectroscopic Anisotropy in Laterally Self-aligned Quantum Dots

        The spectroscopic features observed in laterally self-aligned InGaAs/GaAs quantum dots (QDs)are compared with those in isolated QDs. Though each aligned QD keeps an individual appearance analogous to that of an isolated QD, the aligned QD shows a unique spectroscopic anisotropy attributed to coupling. The polarized photoluminescence (PL) intensity parallel to the alignment of the QDs is distinctively enhanced, which supports the anisotropic arrangement in a preferential [110] direction as shown by the atomic force microscopic image. The temperature dependence of the PL emission energy is exceptionally redshifted, in contrast with the excitation-power dependence that shows a blueshift behavior, which may possibly be explained by the carrier redistribution in anisotropically coupled QDs.

        Gliosarcoma with Components of Anaplastic Oligodendrogliomaand Unclassifiable Spindle Cells- A Case Report -

        Gliosarcoma is a distinct disease entity that is characterized by a biphasic tissue pattern with alternating areas displaying glial and mesenchymal differentiation. The tumor in our case was a rare morphologic variant of gliosarcoma with components of anaplastic oligodendroglioma and unclassifiable spindle cells. Spindle cells showed CD34 and S-100 protein immunoreactivity, which was possibly related to peripheral nerve sheath differentiation. This unique feature has not been described previously and so this case expands the spectrum of possible divergent mesenchymal differentiation, and it lends support to pluripotential stem cells being the origin of this tumor.         Human Herpesvirus 8-Negative and Epstein-Barr Virus-Positive Effusion-Based Lymphoma in a Patient with Human Immunodeficiency Virus

        A 39-year-old man infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) was admitted to our hospital because of sudden onset of chest pain. Chest radiography revealed pneumothorax of the right lung. Computed tomographic scans disclosed a 5.8-cm-sized emphysematous bulla in the right middle lobe of the lung. Histologically, the wedge-resected lung showed medium to large atypical cells within the bullous cavity of the Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia, without solid mass formation. These atypical cells were confirmed to be large B-cell lymphoma, Epstein-Barr virus–positive and human herpesvirus 8–negative. Therefore, this case was not diagnosed as primary effusion lymphoma, but effusion-based lymphoma arising in an emphysematous cavity of an HIVinfected patient. This type of effusion-based lymphoma has never been reported, and, although rare, it should be noted in order to clinically diagnose this lymphoma.

        Urachal Mucinous Tumor of Uncertain Malignant Potential: A Case Report

        Urachal mucinous tumor of uncertain malignant potential is very rare and is characterized by a multilocular cyst showing the proliferation of atypical mucin-secreting cells without stromal invasion. As in ovarian and appendiceal borderline tumors, it represents a transitional stage of mucinous carcinogenesis in the urachus. In addition, this tumor may recur locally and develop into pseudomyxoma peritonei. Due to its scarcity and diagnostic challenges, we report a mucinous tumor of uncertain malignant potential arising in the urachus.
