This study was conducted to determine the productivity of Chicory (Cichorium intybus L.) as forage sources. It was the study on the productivity of Chicory imported from Newzealand under Korean soil and environment. The chicory sown on the August 15 1995 grew rapidly as temperature went up high during the spring in Korea. The yield was 44.6 ton fresh weight/ha when harvested on the 10 June, 1996. Feeding value of Chicory appeared to decrease rapidly as the plant grew older. The contents of crude protein, ash, Ca, P, and Fe of chicory were decreased from 20.8 to 12.68%, 23.06 to 12.17% 0.53 to 0.38% 0.54 to 0.25 %, 424 to 117ppm, respectively, when they were harvested in from May 20 to June 10.
分光光法에 의한 아질산이온 및 질산이온의 定量에 관한 硏究

Nitrite solution, nitrite and nitrate mixed solution of equimolar concentration wereoxidized with 0.0lN potassium permanganate or 35% aqueous hydrogen peroxide solu-tion in the mixed acid buffer solution and colored by brucine. The absorbancies of thesesolutions were investigated in the range of concentration values from 3.0×10^-5 M to 2.0×10^-6 M at the wave length of 410mμ. When the abs-orbancy of the standardnitrate solution was compared with the absorbancy of the sample solution at the sameconcentration of each solution, reasonable results were obtained. The lowest detectableconcentration of the sample solution was found to be about 2.0×10^-6 M in the case ofusing hydrogen peroxide as the oxidizing agent
고용량 퀘티아핀과 관련된 갑상선 이상 및 발작 발생 사례 1예

We report a case of seizure and thyroid dysfunction in a patient receiving quetiapine. A 31-year-o1d Korean woman with bipolar I disorder was observed to have a seizure attack after reduction of quetiapine from 1,200 mg/day to 1,000 mg/day and discontinuance of clonazepam 1 mg/day. Her thyroid function test also showed hyperthyroidism after quetiapine use. She had no known risk factors of seizure, and no known history of lithium ingestion. The patient was taking high dose quetiapine due to her manic symptoms. Using high dose of quetiapine may have resulted in a seizure attack in our patientwith bipolar I disorder. Also, in this patient, quetiapine was probably associated with hyperthyroidism. It is not commonthat seizure occur with atypical antipsychotics, such as quetiapine, except clozapine, but special attention is required using high dose of atypical antipsychotics.
RH-DMA를 적용한 PET 필름의 장기 점탄성 성능 예측

A single frequency strain mode test, a stress relaxation mode test, and a creep test using RH-DMA were performed to investigate the effects of relative humidity and temperature on the viscous properties of PET film. The relative humidity was 10%, 30%, 50%, 70%, and 90%. The temperature was considered to be 30~95°C for single frequency strain mode tests, 30°C and 70°C for stress relaxation mode test, and 5~95°C for creep test. According to the results, higher relative humidity results in lower storage modulus and loss modulus, but the maximum value of the loss modulus is not significantly affected by changes in relative humidity and is almost constant. Relaxation modulus decreases rapidly at the beginning and becomes constant, and as the temperature increases, it is susceptible to changes in relative humidity. Strain recovery also increases rapidly at the beginning and is susceptible to changes in relative humidity as the temperature increases. In addition, as the temperature increases, the degree of increase in creep compliance increases, and as the temperature rises above the glass transfer temperature, the degree of increase becomes very large. The master curve determined by the time-temperature superposition provides the information to predict the long-term performance under operating conditions such as relative humidity and temperature. 상대습도와 온도가 PET 필름의 점탄성 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 RH-DMA를 이용하여 single frequency strain mode 시험, stress relaxation mode 시험, creep 시험을 수행하였다. 상대습도는 10%, 30%, 50%, 70%, 90%를 적용하고 온도는 single frequency strain mode 시험의 경우 30~95oC, stress relaxation mode 시험의 경우 30oC와 70oC, creep 시험의 경우 5~95oC를 고려하였다. 연구결과에 따르면 상대습도가 높아지면 저장탄성계수와 손실탄성계수는 낮아지며 손실탄성계수의 최대값은 상대습도의 변화에 큰 영향을 받지 않고 거의 일정해진다. 이완 탄성계수는 초기에 급격히 감소하다가 일정한 값을 가지며 높은 온도에서는 상대습도의 변화에 민감해진다. 변형률 회복는 초기에 급격히 증가하며 온도가 높아지면 이완 탄성계수와 마찬가지로 상대습도에 민감하게 변한다. 크리프 컴플라이언스의 증가 정도는 온도가 높아지면 커지며 유리전이온도보다 온도가 높아지면 증가 정도는 더욱 커진다. 시간-온도 중첩법을 통해 구해지는 마스터 선도를 이용하면 상대습도와 온도 등의 운용 조건에서의 장기 성능을 예측할 수 있는 정보를 얻을 수 있다.

This study was conducted to examine the effect of castration and searing of musk gland on growth performance and meat quality of Korean native goats. Thirty-two males of Korean native goats were divided into four groups ; castration, searing of musk gland, both castration and searing of musk gland, and control, respectively. Daily gain of Korean native goats was 54.7g for searing of musk gland, 52.8g for control, and 51.8g for castration, respectively. These results trended to grow faster than those treated with castration and searing of musk gland (38.7g). Feed intakes(㎏/day) were 0.3㎏ for concentrated feed and 0.5㎏ for hay, respectively. Meat percentage was 62.7% for control and 61.7% for searing of musk gland. The results were significantly greater than those with castration and castration and searing of musk gland (P $lt; 0.05). Fat percentage of carcass for castration to be 11.1% was significantly greater than those for control (P $lt; 0.05). The results of sensory evaluation for physical properties of meat trended to be better for castration and castration and searing of musk gland than those for control.

7Mis study was conducted to analyze genetic characteristics and to develop the breed-specific DNA marker for breed identification of Korean native goat(KNG) as an indigenous animal genetic resource using random amplified polymorphic DNA(RAPD) and DNA amplification fingerprinting(DAF) techniques. A total of 30 KNG wide the high phenotypic purity and five exotic breeds including imported black goat(1BG) as a meat type breed and Saancn(SAA). Alpine(ALP), Nubian(NUB) and Toggenburg(TOG) as dairy type breeds were used in this study. Ten individuals were sampled from each exotic breed. Genomic DNA derived from blood or milk samples was amplified by PCR using random primers. Thirty different l0-base oligonucleotide primers were used in the initial screening. Of the 30 arbitrary selected primers, twelve primers showing highly polymorphic and reproducible amplification patterns were chosen for further analysis of RAPD and DAF. A total of 75 RAPD markers were produced, 36(48.0%) bands of which were polymorphic, compared to a total of 184 DAF markers with 117(64.0%) polymorphic bands. Therefore, the amount of polymorphism detected by DAF is much greater than that of RAPD. The band sharing value (62%) in the KNG was the highest among goat breeds, indicating that genetic similarity within KNG population was higher than those of other goat breeds. Two of the primers. GEN-01(GGTGACGCAG) and GEN-08(ACCCCCGAAG), produced breed-specific DNA bands showing differences between breeds. The 1.80kb band of GEN-O1 primer and 1.0kb band of GEN-08 primer were present in all of the dairy goat breeds examined including SAA, but not present in the meat type breeds of KNG and IBG. On the contrary, the 0.70kb band of GEN-Ol and 0.60kb band of GFN-08 were found in all of the KNG, but not in the IBG nor any of the dairy goat breeds. Therefore, these DNA bands specific for KNG may be useful putative breed-diagnostic markers to discriminate KNG from other improved goat breeds. In comparison of genetic distance and dendrogram, the KNG was the most closely related to the IBG, followed by the SAA. In conclusion. the RAPD and DAF markers will be useful for estimating genetic variation and relationships in goat breeds and for the breed identification of KNG.

고추 育種의 基礎資料를 얻고자 342 ×김장고추, 馬山×Hungarian wax 그리고 馬山×濟州 等 3組合의 親, F_(1), F_(2) 그리고 BCF_(1), 世代에 對해 赤熟된 果實을 收穫하여 1生ㆍ乾果重을 構成하는 形質들의 雜種强勢, 遺傳成分 및 相關關係를 調査한 結果를 要約하면 다음과 같다. 平均 Heterosis는 거의 모든 形質에서 正의 값을 나타내었고 平均 Heterobeltiosis는 342×김장고추組合을 除外하고는 거의 負의 값을 나타내었다. 또한 近交弱勢도 正의 값을 보여 F_(2)에서의 무게감소가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 形質發現에는 各 組合의 形質에 따라 重複的 或은 補足的으로 上位性이 作用하였으며 F_(2)에서 果重과 果肉重은 廣義 및 狹義의 遺傳力이 높았으며 其也形質은 全般的으로 낮았다. 各 果重構成要素間의 形質相關은 生ㆍ乾果重에서 모두 正의 有意한 相關을 보였다. Six genetic populations, viz, P_(1), P_(2), F_(1), F_(2), B_(1), and B_(2) of three crosses involving five varieties (342 × Kimjanggochu, Masan × Hungarian was, and Masan × Jeju) were used for estimating heterosis, heterobeltiosis, inbreeding depression, genetic components, heritability and correlations for fresh and dry anatomical components of red pepper. The results obtained were summarized as follows. Heterosis was positive in most characters of three crosses and heterobeltiosis was negative except in cross 342 × Kimjanggochu. Inbreeding depression was positive, showing decrease of weight in F_(2) generation. Duplicate and complimentary type of epistasis were concerned with the expression of characters, and broad and narrow sense heritabilities of fruit weight and pericarp weight were fairly high and stem weight, placenta weight and seed weight were low. Correlations among the anatomical components were positively significant in fresh and dry weights.
