        Rottweiler에서 발생한 고관절 탈구의 개방적 정복

        체중 43kg의 10개월령 암컷 로토와일러가 약 2개월전부터 점진적으로 진행된 좌측후지의 심한 파행 병력으로내원하였다. 신체검사와 고관절 탈구를 진단하였으며 골반의 외측 및 복배측 방사선 사진 촬영으로 확진할 수 있었다. 전배측 접근 후 골수내정으로 제작한 한 개의 toggle pin 및 두 개의 bone screw를 병용 적용하여 대퇴골두를 고정하였다. 일차교정은 술후 7일의 재탈구로 실패하였으며 동일 방법으로 이차 시술한 후 Ehner sling을 적용하고 운동을 제한하였다. 술후 20일에 환축은 거의 정상보행을 회복하였다.

        요크셔테리어종에서의 울혈성 심부전을 동반한 판막하형 폐동맥판 협착증

        A two-month-old female Yorkshire terrier was referred to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, College of Veterinary Medicine, Kyungpook national University. The patient was presented with a history of dyspnea, cough, exercise intolerance and abdominal distension, but she was appetence. In physical examination the puppy was coughed on slight tracheal compression. Rectal temperature, pulse and respiratory rate were normal, and grade 3/6 systolic murmur heard at the left heart base. The murmur was crescendo-decrescendo. Electrocardiography showed sinus arrhythmia, right-ventricular hypertrophy pattern, and right axis deviation. Thoracic radiography revealed cardiomegaly, bulging of the main pulmonary artery, and enlarged left side heart. Abdominal radiography revealed abdkominal distention. Echocardiography showed hypertrophy of right ventricle and turbulence in the pulmonary artery in parasternal oblique view. Subvalvular pulmonic stenosis was diagnosis based upon the clinical signs, physical examination, electrocardiography, radiography and echocardiography. We treated the patient with furosemide, enalapril and $\beta$-blocker. After the clinical signs of cough, abdominal distension and dyspnea were disappeared, she was on just $\beta$-blocker for prevention of occurrence of congestive heart failure. Now she was recovered her health, and she is not on any medication.

        개에서의 다중심형 림프육종의 발생례

        A 3-year old male Maltese, which had enlarged and ballooned superficial lymph-nodes, was admitted to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, College of Veterinary Medicine, Kyung-pook National University. Radiographic findings indicated cranial mediastinal mass, interstitial pneumonitis, conspicuous splenomegaly and liver enlargement. The patient showed anorexia, depression and anemia. It was autopsied following its death 2 days after admittance. There were copious hemoperitoneum, lymphomatous mass in the spleen, torsion of the mesenterium and stenosis of the duodenum. On the microscopic observation, there was the increase of the amount of lymphocytic cytoplasm and numbers of nucleus-devided lymphocytes followed by their diffused infiltration in lymph nodule. Based on the physical, histological and pathological findings, this case was diagnosed as a multicentric form of lymphosarcoma.

        Propofol이 개의 뇌파에 미치는 영향

        The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of propofol on cortical electroencephalogram (EEG) in seven dogs. Propofol infusion was accomplished from low concentration to high concentration in series, and each concentration was infused for 20 minutes (M0: 0, M0.5: 0.5, M1.0:1.0, and M1.5: 1.5 mg/kg/min of infusion rate). EEG was recorded via needle electrode placed at Cz, which was applied to International 10-20 system. Arterial blood pressure. blood gas analysis and ECG were also measured. Hoemodynamics, Pa$CO_2$, PaO$_2$, heart rate and respiratory rate were variable, but were net significant(p>0.05). The power spectra of EEG in every concentration was compared wish those of control (MO). The powers at a1l frequencies at M1.0 and Ml.5 were decreased. Especially, the powers of the frequencies over 20 Hz were significantly decreased (p<0.O5). Powers at frequencies between 8 and 15Hz at MO.S were significantly increased (p<0.05) in response to the painful stimuli. It was inferred that they may reflect activity of the brain which is consciously processing the external Stimuli. Like the Power spectra, al1 the band powers of He EEG ($\delta$ 1-4, $\theta$4-8, $\alpha$ 8-13, $\beta$L13-21. $\beta$H 21-30, \ulcorner 30-50, and total 1-5OHz) were decreased in proportion to the increase of infusion rate at M1 .0 and M1.5. Especially, decrease of $\beta$H and ${\gamma}$ were significant(p<0.01). At M0.5, $\alpha$ band was significantly increased(p<0.05) among all the bands. Seizure activities which were concide with occurrence of spike wave were shown in all dogs at Ml .0 and M1.5.

        A retrospective study of theophylline-based therapy with tracheal collapse in small-breed dogs: 47 cases (2013–2017)

        Theophylline acts as a bronchodilator and has an anti-inflammatory effect. In addition,theophylline can be applied in patients where there are concerns regarding the sideeffectsof corticosteroids. This retrospective case series evaluated theophylline-basedtherapy in tracheal collapse (TC) canine patients. Forty-seven dogs with TC that receivedtheophylline-based therapy during 2013–2017 were investigated. A fluoroscopic examinationwas performed to diagnose and grade TC. Theophylline was prescribed (7.5–30 mg/kg POq12h) and the theophylline serum concentrations were measured. Coughing was assessedusing a coughing scoring scale. The mean coughing score decreased after the theophyllinebasedtherapy compared with that observed before treatment. Clinical improvements wereobserved in 46/47 patients (97.9%). As the intrathoracic TC grading increased, the finaltheophylline dosage also increased (p value 0.019). The symptom-free period (SFP) withtherapy was 189.7 ± 194.45 days (range, 0–720 days) and there was no statistically significantcorrelation between the SFP and age, sex, or TC grade on fluoroscopy. Although theophyllinehas generally been used as a third-line treatment, it was used as the main treatment in thisstudy and most patients showed improvements. Dogs have a wider therapeutic index ofserum concentrations than humans, and any undesirable effects were easily overcome. Withfurther research, this therapy may prove to be a useful approach, but its safety for long-termuse in the treatment of canine TC patients needs to be established.

        개에서 Propofol의 연속투여효과

        The effects of continuous administration of propofol on the blood, liver and kidney of dogs were evaluated. Propofol(5mg/kg) was repeatedly administered to 8 mongrel dogs intravenously for consecutive seven days. Time to recovery, body temperature, heart rate, and respiratory rate were measured and recorded during experimental period. Hematology (WBC, RBC, PCV) and serum chemistry (AST, ALT, BUN, Creatinine) were also monitored for eight days. Time to standing significantly decreased on day 4 and 6 compared with that on day 1. Body temperature 5 minutes after injection on day 5 and 6, and respiratory rate before injection on day 2, 3, 5 and 6 were significantly increased, respectively. No significant changes were observed in total WBC counts, total RBC counts and PCV values. The AST and AIT values were decreased on day 2 compared with those on day 1, but were within clinically normal range. There were no significant changes in BUN and Creatinine levels. This study suggests that consecutive day propofol anesthesia in dogs can be used for the purpose of the treatment and restraint.
