To report retinal image of in a 6-year-old male castrated poodle dog with a 2-month history of nyctalopia using optical coherence tomography (OCT). Ocular reflexes were present in both eyes and slit lamp examination showed anterior subscapular cataract in the right eye. There were fundus abnormalities in both eyes similar to retinal degeneration. Scotopic electroretinograms (ERGs) revealed significantly subabnormal amplitudes and prolonged implicit time, whereas photopic ERGs were better maintained, although far from normal. OCT of affected dogs revealed generalized retinal thinning much more than a normal age-matched dog. Therefore, OCT scanning is considered to be a useful method for retinal evaluation in dogs with retinal degeneration.
Optical Coherence Tomography를 이용한 원발성 맥락망막염 이환견의 진단 및 치료

A 5-year-old intact male Yorkshire terrier dog was referred with a 1-week history of blindness. In both eyes, menace responses and pupillary light reflexes were absent. The indirect ophthalmoloscopy revealed multiple small gray-white and discoloration lesion in mid-nontapetum area in both eyes. Electroretinograms showed diminished amplitude of a- and b-waves. Multifocal serous retinal detachments were detected with optical coherence tomography (OCT) over the small gray-white and discoloration lesion in the fundus. After one week of treatments, the indirect ophthalmoloscopy showed that irregular patches and hyperpigmentation in the center of hyperreflectivity area. Reattachment and retinal thinning were observed by the OCT. The results indicate that OCT scanning is considered to be a useful method for retinal evaluation in dogs with chorioretinitis.

These studies were preformed to investigate the freezing conditions to achieve good post-thaw viability of spend and the practical methods of artificial insemination frozen canine semen. Semen were collected from nine male dogs which had been proved to be fertile in the past and the semen were treated for freezing procedure. Post-thaw motility and viability of canine sperm were evaluated to investigate individual tolerance of freezing, difference among freezing extenders, dif-ference among freezing equipments and freezing conditions, difference between fast and slow cooling rate, difference according to different glycerol concentration, effect of seeding on post-thaw viability, difference according to cutting part of straw, difference according to thawing temperatures, and dif-ference according to media added to thawed semen. Thawed semen for insemination were added with equal volnme of canine capacitation medium (CCM) and the volume of semen and the number per insemination were adjusted as 2-3 ml and $20-30 {\times}10^7,$ respectively. The semen were inseminated in vagina using balloon catheter and en17ryos were cellected from 9 to 11 days after the second Al to d determine fertilization.
Superficial Keratectomy in a Standing Horse with Advanced Corneolimbal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

A 12-year-old gelding Warmblood Horse was presented with a corneolimbal mass in the right eye (OD)of 6 months duration. Clinical signs included ocular discomfort, persistent mucoid ocular discharge, and conjunctivalhyperemia. The mass was excised by superficial keratectomy under sedation in a standing position, followed by atopical application of 0.04% mitomycin C (MMC), and a placement of a conjunctival advancement graft. Thehistopathological diagnosis was squamous cell carcinoma. One month after surgery, recurrence of the mass wassuspected upon examination of the eye. Topical MMC and 5-fluorouracil followed by cryotherapy were applied asadjunctive therapies after debulking of the mass. The surgical site healed without complications and with a cosmeticallyacceptable result. No recurrence of the mass was noted four years following the second procedure.

It is well-known that high temperature hurts the sizing effect of rosin size in paper making, mainly owing to the particle size of rosin-aluminium complex in paper stock. In this experiments, author find, when the temperature of stock rises up. the particle size of rosin-aluminium complex of neutral rosin size increases and the degree of sizing decreases finally. However, the behavior of Bewoid size is quite opposite to former. This result showed that, Bewoid size is suitable in hot summer and neutral rosin size in cold winter for better sizing effect.

Evaluation of viability and capacitation of canine sperm is of great importance to deter- mine good condition for freezing canine semen and consequently to improve conception rate by arti-ficial insemination. Semen were collected from nine male dots which had been proved to be fertile in the post and the semen were treaded for freezing procedure. Semen were thawed at 37$^{\circ}C$ for 30 seconds. In this study, hypoosmotic swelling(HOS) test and chlortetracycline(CTC) test were per- formed to evaluate post-thaw viability and capacitated status of sperm, respectively. In HOS test far canine sperm, the highest percentage of curled sperm was shown at 60 mOsm. In HOS test for canine semen, there were considerably significant correlation between HOS values and sperm motil- ity(r=0.9064, p<0.01) and converse correlation between HOS values and sperm abnormality(r=- 0.6905, p<0.05). The sperm viability and HOS-values for chilled extended semen were significantly decreased from 0 to 72 hours during storage at 5$^{\circ}C$ (p<0.05). Of the media added to canine semen after thawing, the most capacitated sperm were shown in CCM(p<0.01), and then This Fructose Cit- rate(TFC) medium with calcium from 3 hours after incubation with media. It was concluded that HOS test is of great value to determine the viability and motility of canine sperm, whereas CTC test is usable to determine the capacitated status. Consequently, both tests were thought to be useful as the additional tests to standard semen analysis.

This study was performed to determine the causes of the bursting casualties such as death of sows and piglets, abortion, still birth and infertility in a pig farm after consecutive detonation for three months to construct 345 KV in Kimje area. 1. Temperatures in Kimje district, management condition, microorganism in the feed, inbreeding, hematological conditions, and viral agent causing abortion were not proved as the factors of acute occurrence of abortion and infertility in the pig farm. 2. The amount of explosive was increased from 250 kg to 1,100 kg from 23 Dec. 1996 to 28 Jan. 1997 and at the same time the distance between the spot of detonation and the pig farm got closer, from 200 m at the begining to 100 m at the last detonation. 3. Theoretical concussion and sound values were 0.66 kine and 89.39 ㏈, respectively, in the case of 100 m distance between the detonation spot and the pig farm. In conclusion, death of 675 piglets and 11 sows and infertility of 69 sows in the pig farm were assumed to be caused by the concussion or sound stress after detonation.
