        Synthesis and Characterization of Co-Fe-based Amorphous Ribbons with Small Nb Additions

        The ferromagnetic metallic glass alloys in Co-Fe-B-Si-Nb system were investigated. Such glassy alloys exhibit high glass-forming ability (GFA) as well as good mechanical and magnetic properties. Based on those results, [(Co<SUB>0.5</SUB>Fe<SUB>0.5</SUB>)<SUB>0.75</SUB>B<SUB>0.2</SUB>Si<SUB>0.05</SUB>]<SUB>100-x</SUB>Nb<SUB>x</SUB> (x = 5, 6, 7, 8 at.%) were chosen for this investigation with increasing the Nb contents. Amorphous ribbons with [(Co<SUB>0.5</SUB>Fe<SUB>0.5</SUB>)<SUB>0.75</SUB>B<SUB>0.2</SUB>Si<SUB>0.05</SUB>]<SUB>100-x</SUB>Nb<SUB>x</SUB> (x = 5, 6, 7, 8 at.%) were obtained by single-roller melt spinning. As-spun ribbons were identified as fully amorphous by using X-ray diffraction (XRD). The thermal stability parameters, such as supercooled liquid region (<I>Δ<SUB>x</SUB> = T<SUB>g</SUB> – T<SUB>x</SUB></I>) were measured by using a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Mechanical properties of Co-Fe-B-Si-Nb system were measured by nano indentation test. Co-Fe-B-Si-Nb glassy ribbons also exhibited good soft magnetic properties, low coercive force (<I>H<SUB>c</SUB></I>) and a high saturation magnetization (<I>M<SUB>s</SUB></I>). We report here that a small amount of Nb addition (microalloying) can significantly enhance the thermal stability of the alloy without deteriorating its soft magnetic properties.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of mast cells and their product, histamine and leukotriene in ischemia-reperfusion injury. Methods: Forty Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into four groups. (Group I: Control group without ischemia, Group II: Normal saline with ischemia, Group III: Cimetidine with ischemia, Group IV: Zafirlukast with ischemia) Skin flap was elevated and ischemic insult was given by clamping the artery for 12 hours. Before reperfusion, the rats were treated with saline, cimetidine and zafirlukast. Flap survival was evaluated at 7 days. Neutrophil counts, mast cell counts were evaluated 24 hours after reperfusion. Results: Flap survival rate in the control group was 92.33%, whereas normal saline group had 37.34% survivals. Cimetidine and zafirlukast treated group showed significantly higher survival rates than normal saline group. The neutrophil and mast cell counts in cimetidine and zafirlukast treated group were significantly decreased than normal saline group. Cimetidine treated group showed higher survival rate and lower cell counts than zafirlukast treated group. Conclusion: The administration of cimetidine and zafirlukast can decrease neutrophils and mast cells caused by ischemia-reperfusion and increase flap survivals. It is suggests that antihistamine and leukotriene receptor antagonist have protective effect against ischemia-reperfusion injury to skin flap in rat.

        黃連-吳茱萸 藥對의 활용에 대한 고찰

        Objectives : This study is intended to establish the areas of use of the major effects of Coptidis Rhizoma-Evodiae Fructus Pair in the Prescriptions. Methods : Prescriptions that include both Coptidis Rhizoma and Evodiae Fructus have been selected with the use of programs offered by <uri>http://www.koreantk.com, http://youl.net/data</uri> . This study compared and analyzed the main effects of the selected prescriptions. Results : Prescriptions that work on upper digestive system tend to have Coptidis Rhizoma to Evodiae Fructus ratio of 2:1~10:1, and Prescriptions that work on lower digestive system tend to have ratio of 1:1. When Coptidis Rhizoma takes up 50% or more of the total dose of the prescriptions, these prescriptions tend to have major effect on the upper digestive system, and when it takes less than 50%, these tend to have major effect on the lower digestive system on the contrary. Conclusions : The prescriptions based on Coptidis Rhizoma-Evodiae Fructus Pair have a tendency to treat digestive problems caused by mass of fever in Liver-system. On this basis, further studies are expected to unveil the effectiveness of these prescriptions on adult diseases.

        Thermal and Magnetic Properties of Melt-spun Co-Fe-B-Si-(Cr/Ta) Amorphous Alloys

        The ferromagnetic amorphous alloys Co-Fe-B-Si-Cr and Co-Fe-B-Si-Ta were systemically investigated. [(Co<sub>1</sub>−<sub>x</sub>Fe<sub>x</sub>) <sub>0.75</sub>B<sub>0.2</sub>Si<sub>0.05</sub>]<sub>96</sub>Cr<sub>4</sub> (x = 0, 0.1, 0.4, 0.7, 1.0) and [(Co<sub>1−x</sub>Fe<sub>x</sub>)<sub>0.75</sub>B<sub>0.2</sub>Si<sub>0.05</sub>]<sub>96</sub>Ta<sub>4</sub> (x = 0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 1.0) ribbons were prepared by using the melt-spinning technique. Amorphous structures were confirmed by the presence of a broad and halo peak in X-ray diffraction (XRD). The thermal characteristics, such as the glass transition temperature (<i>T<sub>g</sub></i>), the crystallization temperature (<i>T<sub>x</sub></i>) and the supercooled liquid region (Δ<i>T<sub>x</sub></i> = <i>T<sub>x</sub></i> − <i>T<sub>g</sub></i>), were measured by means of a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). For the Co-Fe-B-Si-Cr alloys, the values of Δ<i>T<sub>x</sub></i> were in the range of 51.6 − 61.4 K, and for Co-Fe-B-Si-Ta alloys, they were in the range of 39.3 − 55.5 K. The magnetic properties were examined by means of a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) at a maximum field strength of 3000 Oe. These glassy ribbons exhibited soft magnetic properties. The saturation magnetization (<i>M<sub>s</sub></i>) and the coercive force (<i>H<sub>c</sub></i>) were in the ranges of 307.85 − 854.52 emu·cm<sup>3</sup> and 0.64 − 0.89 Oe, respectively.

        Glass Formation and Magnetic Properties in the Co and Fe-based Amorphous Alloy with Small Mo or Nb Additions

Ingots of [(Co1−xFex)0.75B0.2Si0.05]96Mo4 (x = 0, 0.2, 0.5, 0.8, 1.0) and [(Co1−xFex)0.75B0.2Si0.05]96Nb4 (x = 0, 0.2, 0.5, 0.8, 1.0) alloys were cast into about 30 μm-thick ribbons by using a melt spinning method. As-spun ribbons were identified as being fully amorphous by using X-ray diffraction (XRD). The thermal stability parameters, such as the supercooled liquid region (Tx = Tg – Tx) and the exothermic heat (HExo), were measured by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). For Co-Fe-B-Si-Mo alloys, Tx and HExo were in the range of 41.4 – 81.7 K and 23.40 – 104.21 J/g, and for Co-Fe-B-Si-Nb alloys, Tx and HExo were in the range of 60.4 –88.0 K and 18.45 – 62.05 J/g, respectively. These glassy ribbons also exhibited semi-hard magnetic properties, i.e., a coercive force (Hc) of 67.26 – 100.68 Oe and a saturation magnetization (Ms) of 341.288 – 746.176 emu·cm3.         『東醫寶鑑』중 大黃이 主藥으로 配伍된 方劑의 劑形, 炮製, 藥對構成에 따른 活用

        The purpose of this study is to find out effects of prescriptions according to the formula, manipulation of Rhei Rhizoma, configuration. The following results were reached through investigations on the prescriptions using Rhei Rhizoma as a main component. Objectives : Analysis of prescriptions According to the formula : Liquid Extract Prescriptions were used widely on three parts to treat fever and damp heat in the interior organs. Powder Prescriptions were taken with hot water, thin porridge, tea etc. to treat damp heat, congestion of phlegm, acute episodes. Liquid Mixed Pill treat congestion of QI, damp heat, phlegm. Honey Mixed Pill treat accumulated fever, distension, acute excessive fever. Paste Pill treat blood stagnation, excessive toxic-fever, epidemic diseases. External Application treat inflammation by injury, swelling due to severe fever by internal damage. Methods : Analysis of prescriptions According to the manipulation of Rhei Rhizoma : Prescriptions including Liquor processed Rhei Rhizoma treat excessive toxic-fever, congestion of phlegm, blocking orifices on the upper side. Steamed Rhei Rhizoma strengthen effects of making evacuate and cooling of heat. Processed Rhei Rhizoma with vinegar strengthen effects of removing blood stagnation by activating blood movement, releasing gathering. Results : Analysis of prescriptions According to the Composition of Rhei Rhizoma : 41% of the total prescriptions were on the area of less than 20%. In case of lower groups show increased frequency of combination with Pharbitidis Semen, Persicae Semen, Scutellariae Radix and manipulation of baking, steaming, roasting. In case of higher groups show increased frequency of treating excess syndrome, critical illness, acute severe illness, and using proccesed Rhei Rhizoma with vinegar. Treatment of damp heat on the liver and gallbladder, disorder of the spleen and stomach is done mostly by prescriptions on the area of less than 30%. Conclusions : Rhei Rhizoma-Coptidis Rhizoma pair treat damp heat, heat toxins in blood, and Constipation caused by excessive heat. Rhei Rhizoma-Glycyrrhizae Radix pair relieve effects of Rhei Rhizoma passing blocked feces, removing the poison, activating blood movement, releasing gathering with the effects of Glycyrrhizae Radix relaxing tension by harmonizing Middle. Rhei Rhizoma-Magnoliae Cortex pair are used to treat damp heat in middle area, excessive heat in the stomach and intestine. Rhei Rhizoma-Pharbitidis Semen pair act on both blood system and QI system treating edema, damp, stagnation, heat toxins, feces. Rhei Rhizoma-Persicae Semen pair treat blood stagnation with fever on blood system.
