The Independent (Tongnip Sinmun) is very important in modern Korean history. Therefore, previous studies have accumulated research results on The Independent’s perceptions of the international situation and their views on international politics. In the previous studies, The Independent was considered to have made contradictory claims that they viewed the international community as in the order of the law of the jungle, but did not rely on international law or pay attention to strengthening the national defence. However, this phenomenon is due to the fact that The Independent embraced liberal internationalism, which was popular in the Anglo-American world in the 19th century. Liberal internationalism holds that the international community should be governed by law, not force. In the 19th century, there were no institutions yet to judge and enforce international law, so liberal internationalism sought to rely on the power of international public opinion to enforce international law. The idea was that if an aggressor state appeared, international public opinion would trigger collective security and control the aggressor state. The Independent's view of international politics was almost identical to this liberal internationalism. The independent believed that the international society was controlled by international law and international public opinion. Therefore, from The Independent's point of view, the threat to Korea's independence did not depend on the military power of foreign powers, but on whether international public opinion would support Korea's independence. Therefore, The Independent believed it was important to improve civilization to win the favour of international public opinion rather than strengthen military power. The Independent's view of international politics was logically consistent and provided legitimacy to The Independent's domestic reform theory, the civilization theory.

신입 전공의를 대상으로 한 의료커뮤니케이션 워크숍의 교육 효과성 인식과 학습경험 분석

Purpose: This study aims to explore the perceived effectiveness, benefits, and learning experiences of interns with regard to their participation in a communication skills workshop program, which can have implications for the development and implementation of future communication skills training. Methods: One hundred twenty one interns and 12 senior residents and fellows participated in the workshop program as learners and tutors. The participating interns encountered three difficult communication situations, represented by trained standardized patients. During each encounter, each participant had an individual encounter, group discussion, and feedback on his performance. A self-assessment survey, composed of five itemized questions and seven open-ended questions, was administered after the workshop. A mixed methods approach was used to analyze the quantitative and qualitative data. Results: The participants had positive perceptions of the implementation and effects of the workshop, and they responded higher than 4.0 to all itemized questions on their perception of the effectiveness and benefits of the workshop. The analysis of open-ended questions demonstrated specific learning experiences of the participants, such as the hardship of solving ill-structured communication problems and reflection on their current knowledge, skills, attitudes, and practice as physicians. The participants reported that the workshop provided opportunities of improving diverse communication skills and problem-solving skills and identifying further learning needs. Conclusion: The results suggest that communication skills training for interns facilitates their reflection and development of communication skills, as well as their competency of situated problem solving. Consequently, communication skills development should be regarded as an important subject of continuing medical education. Several implications of this study can contribute to the design and development of communication skills-related programs.

In this paper we developed the MYC sensor for steering control and steering control of the AGVDS (Autonomous Guided Vehicle Driving System) for Durability test. Among durability tests, the accelerated durability test has been widely used to evaluate the durability of vehicle structure and chassis parts in a short period of time on the designed road that has severe surface conditions. However it increased the drivers fatigue mainly caused by the severe driving conditions. The driver's difficulty to maintain the constant speed and control the steering wheel reduces the reliability of test results. In addition to the general detecting sensor for steering control was restricted by surrounding condition. So we need to develop steering control sensor was robust in the bad driving condition. In this paper we developed steering control sensor using magnetic induction which is robust in the bad driving condition and implemented the AGVDS.

지반복원 및 석유시추에 활용되는 바이오폴리머 용액의 특성 연구

Biopolymers are one of environment-friendly materials that can be completely degraded by microbes, not like other chemical products. It is more effective to saturate the pore of soils by biopolymer solutions than by water, and therefore biopolymers are used forsoil remediation and petroleum production. Two types of biopolymers, alginic acid sodium salt (SA) and polyethylene oxide (PEO),are employed in this study to experimentally investigate the basic properties – contact angle, surface tension, viscous force – and flowcharacteristics of biopolymer solutions using microfludic device. It was found that the contact angles of biopolymer solutions on a silicondioxide plate were lager than that of water. The magnitudes of surface tensions of biopolymer solutions did not show a cleartrend. The viscous force of biopolymer solutions were larger than that of water, and it increased with increasing concentration of solutions. The tests with a microfluidic device showed that the pore is better saturated by the biopolymer solutions with more concentrationand more injection velocity. The results of this study provides basic properties of biopolymer solutions for flow analysis, andcan be referenced for effective soil remediation and petroleum production usingn biopolymer solutions. 바이오폴리머는 일반 화학제품과는 달리 미생물에 의해 완전 분해될 수 있는 친환경 재료 중 하나이다. 바이오폴리머 용액은 물보다지반의 공극을 포화시키는데 더 효과적이며, 이에 따라 본 특성을 활용하여 지반복원, 석유시추 등을 효율적으로 수행하는 데에 활용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 Alginic acid sodium salt(SA)와 Polyethylene oxide(PEO) 바이오폴리머 용액의 기본특성-접촉각, 표면장력,점성력−을 실험적 기법을 통해 연구하고, 또한, 미세유체장치를 통해 농도와 주입속도에 따른 바이오폴리머 용액의 흐름특성을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 바이오폴리머 용액이 이산화규소 유리판에서 형성하는 용액방울의 접촉각은 탈염수에 비해 큰 값을 보였으며, 바이오폴리머 용액의 표면장력은 바이오폴리머 종류에 따라 탈염수보다 크거나 작은 값을 가졌다. 바이오폴리머 용액의 점성력은 실험된 용액모두 탈염수에 비해 큰 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 용액의 농도가 클수록 점성력이 큰 경향을 보였다. 미세유체장치를 이용한 실험으로부터 바이오폴리머 용액의 농도와 주입속도가 증가할수록 공극의 포화도가 증가하는 명확한 경향을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 바이오폴리머 용액의 흐름해석을 위한 기초자료를 제공하며, 또한 바이아폴리며 용액의 지반복원, 석유시추 적용에의 효율성 제고에 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.
