Vol.17 No.4
Vol.38 No.1
CPU(Central Processing Unit)가 지원하는 단일 싸이클 MAC(Multiply- Accumulate) 연산을 극대화하고, 지연 메모리 연산을 최소화함으로써 3배 이상의 연산 최적화를 달성하였다. In this paper, we propose a method that can be applied to the efficient implementation of multi-channel active noise controller. Since the normalized MFxLMS (Modified Filtered-x Least Mean Square) algorithm for the multi-channel active noise control requires a large amount of computation, the difficulty has lied in implementing the algorithm using a low-cost MCU (Microcontoller Unit). We implement the multi-channel active noise controller efficiently by optimizing the software based on the features of the MCU. By maximizing the usage of single-cycle MAC (Multiply- Accumulate) operations and minimizing move operations of the delay memory, we can achieve more than 3 times the performance in the aspect of computational optimization, and by parellel processing using the auxillary processor included in the MCU, we can also obtain more than 4 times the performance. In addition, the usage of additional parts can be minimized by maximizing the usage of the peripherals embedded in the MCU.

In this paper, we implemented a speaker-independent speech recognizer using the TMS320F28335 DSP which is optimized for control applications. For this implementation, we used a small-sized commercial DSP module and developed a peripheral board including a codec, signal conditioning circuits and I/O interfaces. The speech signal digitized by the TLV320AIC23 codec is analyzed based on MFCC feature extraction methed and recognized using the continuous-density HMM. Thanks to the internal SRAM and flash memory on the TMS320F28335 DSP, we did not need any external memory devices. The internal flash memory contains ADPCM data for voice response as well as HMM data. Since the TMS320F28335 DSP is optimized for control applications, the recognizer may play a good role in the voice-activated control areas in aspect that it can integrate speech recognition capability and inherent control functions into the single DSP.

In this paper, we developed the evaluation system for the active noise control so that the algorithms can be easily evaluated in real-time on the system. We implemented the active noise controller based on a single-chip with only additional op-amps for signal conditioning because the TMS320C280049 MCU includes almost all necessary peripherals for the active noise controller. Due to the difficulty in testing algorithms on embedded-type hardware unlike in computer simulation, we also developed GUI-based evaluation software which makes it simple to test algorithms on the hardware. Using the GUI software, we can optimize the parameters of the algorithms with ease in a specific noise environment because the parameters can be adjusted in real-time when the algorithm is running on the hardware.
