This paper suggests a new type of 4-switch inverter for switched reluctance motor drives. 4-switch Inverter topology is studied to provide a possibility for the realization of cost of 3-phase SRM drive system. We used Y-connection and two-phase exciting method. For effective utilization of the developed system, a direct current controlled PWM scheme is designed and implemented to produce the desired dynamic. We solve to balance the neutral point of Y-connection by the direct current controlled PWM and examine the performance of proposed system. With the algorithm and developed control scheme, is expected that the proposed system can be widely used in commercial applications with a reduced system cost.

Mechanical spring and hydraulic pressure operated mechanisms are applied in most of today's High Voltage Gas Insulated Switchgear(GIS)s. This paper proposes a new type of operation mechanism for GIS circuit breakers rated at 245㎸ and 40㎄. The Motor-Direct-Drive-Mechanism (MDDM) has many advantages compared to conventional operating mechanisms. It has a very simple structure with only one moving part, low mechanical stress and audible noise. It also allows monitoring, operation speed control and self-diagnosis functions.

In this paper, the operational performance of SRM can be improved by using current hysteresis control method. This method maintains a generally flat current waveform. At the high speed, the current chopping capability is lost due to the development of the back-EMF. Therefore SRM operates in single pulse mode. By using zero-current switching and zerovoltage switching technique, the stress of power switches can be reduce in chopping mode. When the commutation from one phase winding to another phase winding, the current can be zero as fast as possible in this period because several times negative voltage of DC-source voltage produce in phase winding. This paper is compared to performance based on conventional C-dump converter topology and the proposed resonant C-dump converter topology. Simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed circuit.

In this paper, a new control scheme to use 6-switch inverters for 3-phase switched reluctance motors (SRM) is proposed. Compared with the conventional asymmetric converter topology, it can minimize the entire system size and cost and can increase the efficiency. Therefore, it may have a new topology for SRM to compete the other ac motors, such as induction motors, brushless dc motors, and so on. The validity of the proposed method is verified by simulation, and experimental results.
