        The Effects of Language Skill Integration on L2 Learners’ Perceived Language Abilities and Affective Engagement

        The present study examines the effects of language skill integration on L2 learners’ perceptions of language abilities and their affective engagement after their participation in integrated-skills instruction. One hundred seventy-four high school students in Korea participated in the study and were assigned to three groups – Reading-Listening, Reading-Writing, and Reading-Reading. The first two groups performed integrated-skills tasks for ten weeks, a session per week, while the Reading-Reading group carried out reading tasks only. A questionnaire was designed and administered four times, at weeks 2, 6, 10, during the instruction, and week 12, after the instruction. The major findings were as follows. Skill integration, as well as reading only, did not exert affirmative impacts on learners’ perceived language abilities. Regarding motivation intensity, a significant difference was found between the two integrated-skills groups; the Reading-Writing group felt more intensely motivated than Reading-Listening. It may indicate that different modes of skill integration, receptive and productive, make learners more intensely motivated than the same mode of integration, receptive and receptive. Both skill integration and reading only were shown to have reduced students’ language anxiety in classroom environments.

        차량 사고에서 병원 전 응급의료 대응시간 단축을 위한 융합연구

        본 연구는 차량 사고에서 병원 전 응급의료 대응시간을 단축시키기 위한 방안을 모색한 융합연구이다. 연구방법 은 한국형 교통사고 심층조사 분석 체계(Korea In-Depth Accident Study)에서 2011년 1월 1일부터 2016년 7월 30일까지 3개의 응급의료센터에 119구급대로 내원한 차량 탑승자 353명을 대상으로 날씨, 도로유형, 사고유형, 구조대 출동 여부를 활용하여 병원 전 응급의료 대응시간에 대해 요인 분석하였다. 연구결과에서 고속도로는 병원 전 응급의료 대응시간을 가장 많이 소요하였고 전체시간에 영향을 주는 요인으로 확인되었다(β=.543, p<.001). 따라서 고속도로에 서 소요되는 시간을 단축시키기 위해 고속도로 119구급대의 운영과 비상회차로의 적극적인 사용, 개별 장치를 부착한 자동 긴급구조신호 서비스의 제공을 제시하였다. The purpose of this study was a convergence study to find a way to shorten pre-hospital emergency medical response time in vehicle accident. This study analyzed the factors of hospital emergency response time by utilizing weather, road type, accident type, and rescue response to 353 vehicle passengers who visited the three emergency medical centers from January 1, 2011 to July 30, 2016 in Korea In-Depth Accident Study. The results of the study showed that the highway used the most time to prehospital emergency medical response time and was a factor affecting the overall time (β=.543, p<.001). In order to shorten the emergency medical response time in highway, the operation of emergency services on the highway, the active use of emergency turn road and the automatic emergency rescue service with individual devices were proposed.

        근로환경 만족도에 영향을 주는 신체적, 정신적 피해 요인 분석 : 제5차 한국근로환경조사를 이용하여

        The study was initiated to identify the causes of physical and mental harm to workers and provide basic data. It is an analysis study using raw data from the 5th Working Environment Survey, and the study analyzed the impact of gender, verbal violence, insults, sexual harassment, sexual interest, and bullying on working environment satisfaction. Most of the victims' sexual harassment offenders were their coworkers (83.6 percent), and it was confirmed that women experienced more damage from bullying and sexual interest than men. Insult and verbal abuse have been identified as factors that reduce working environment satisfaction. Based on this study, we hope to improve productivity and work-life balance as well as improve workers' satisfaction with the working environment as a program that takes into account workers' influence factors. 본 연구는 근로자의 신체적, 정신적 피해의 요인을 파악하며 기초자료를 제공하고자 시작되었다. 제5차 근로환경조사 원시자료를 이용한 분석연구이며, 연구는 50,205명을 대상으로 근로자들의 성별, 언어폭력, 모욕, 성희롱, 성적관심, 왕따 괴롭힘이 근로환경 만족도에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 대상자의 성희롱 가해자는 직장동료(83.6%)가 대부분을 차지하였으며 왕따 괴롭힘과 성적 관심에 의한 피해는 남성보다 여성이 더 많이 경험한 것으로 확인되었다. 모욕과 언어폭력은 근로환경 만족도를 저하시키는 요인으로 확인되었다. 본 연구를 토대로 근로자의 영향요인을 고려한 프로그램으로 근로자의 근로환경 만족도 향상뿐 만 아니라 생산성과 Work-life balance의 향상을 기대해본다.

        정면충돌에서 노인운전자의 중증도에 영향을 주는 요인 분석

        The increase in the elderly population also increased the damage and deaths of the elderly drivers. However, studies onthe severity and severity of the elderly driver are not actively conducted and the factors are unknown. In this study, I triedto find out the factors affecting the damage and severity of the elderly driver in the frontal collision and to utilize themadditionally in the severity classification. Collision Deformation Classification (CDC) Code was used to check the extentof damage to the vehicle. Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) was used to determine the injury parts and severity of injury,and the Injury Severity Score (ISS) to confirm the severity of the patient. The odds ratios of severe injury patients werefound to be 7.381 in the subjects with 5 or more deformation extent and the β value of the deformation extent was 0.453in the analysis of the severity by linear regression analysis. Therefore, the degree of deformation extent of 5 or more canbe suggested as a criterion that can be used additionally to the severity classification in the elderly driver. 노인인구의 증가로 노인운전자의 손상과 사망자도 증가하였다. 하지만 노인운전자의 손상과 중증도에 대한 연구는활발히 이루어지지 않아 영향 요인을 파악하지 못하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 정면충돌에서의 노인운전자에 손상과 중증도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 찾아 중증도 분류에 추가적으로 활용하고자 하였다. Collision Deformation ClassificationCode를 통해 차량 파손 정도를 확인하였으며 간편손상척도(Abbreviated Injury Scale, AIS)로 손상부위와 정도를, 손상중증도점수(Injury Severity Score, ISS)로 환자의 중증도를 확인하였다. 중증외상환자의 발생률은 5이상의 차량 파손정도를 가진 대상자에서 Odds ratio가 7.381로 나타났으며 선형회귀분석을 통한 중증도 요인 분석에서도 차량 파손정도의 β값이 0.453으로 나타났다. 따라서 5이상의 차량 파손 정도는 노인운전자에서 중증도 분류에 추가적으로 활용될 수 있는 기준으로 제안될 수 있다.

        The effects of reading purpose on reading comprehension and perceived difficulty

        Despite a large amount of research on reading, little attention has been paid toexperimental studies on the effects of purposeful reading. This study explored theeffects of reading purpose on reading comprehension and perceived difficulty. 71high school students participated in this study and were randomly assigned to threegroups – graphic organizer (Purpose 1), key sentence (Purpose 2), and control. Thelearners’ reading comprehension was measured through pre-, post- and delayed tests. The participants’ perceived difficulty for the texts was also checked with a sevenpointLikert scale. The result demonstrates no immediate effect of establishingreading purpose, though immediate reading purpose effects might be found if alonger treatment period is set. The results also reveal the sustained effect of readingpurpose on reading comprehension. In perceived text difficulty, the Purpose 1 groupfound the reading passages the easiest among the three groups. This suggests thatlearners establishing a reading purpose can gain greater ease in reading than thosewithout a reading purpose.

        역사탐구를 위한 실행의 전제

        Historical inquiry is a representative learning method with which historical thinking, as one of the aims of historical education, can be enhanced by asking significant questions, collecting and analyzing information for the questions, and drawing conclusions. This study is for researching preconditions for performance needed for the historical inquiry, presenting the preconditions including prior knowledge of students and teachers that should be understood before learning, questions as interactions between teachers and students during learning activities, and importance of cooperative learning structure as interactions between students. Understanding of prior knowledge of students is the beginning of historical inquiry, for teaching and learning should be established on the prior knowledge of students and be connected with the prior knowledge for newly understanding of information. Concepts and misconceptions and taste and interest on historical problems or subjects should be measured in the prior knowledge of learners, and in order to measure the prior knowledge, KWL charts or graphic organizers can be used. For historical inquiry, it is important to secure prior knowledge of teachers, who promote, guide, and support learning, as well as the prior knowledge of learners. Teachers should have curriculum, knowledge, functions, and attitudes required in the curriculum, and established perception and perspective on history. Interactions between teachers and students during learning activities can be performed through questions, for significant questions present what to be asked on learning on the basis of prior knowledge and encourage interest in learning. Historical inquiry begins with questions, which are needed during the whole learning process, stimulate learning, and make the activities significant. Cooperative learning as interactions between learners is activity rearing thinking of historical education, and understanding perspectives of others is a favorable interaction for understanding various perspectives in history.

        초등학교 5학년 사회교과서의 한국사 내용 검토와 활용방안

        The revised social studies curriculum of 2007 emphasizes history education in particular. Thus the contents of the history section previously scattered through 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades are now integrated into the first and second semesters of the 5th grade in elementary social studies. The aim of this study was to examine the revised curriculum, structure and contents of the social studies textbook as a basic material for teaching-learning in the actual school environment. Consequently it was to suggest application methods based on the study results. The social studies textbook of the 5th grade in elementary school emphasizes time variant of the Korean history and mainly focuses on the easily accessible contents of everyday living, cultural history and historical figures. The chapter system was simplified from 3 chapters into 2 and an attempt was made to connect various study materials with the experience of students. Moreover the format was changed into a worksheet collection called 'Exploring Social Studies.'The volume of a new textbook became larger so that more contents were discussed in a greater detail than the previous textbook. More contents on Goryo Dynasty in particular were added. The contents structure, inquiry materials and consideration on learners were improved enormously. However errors on facts and minor problems on the expression accuracy, coherence and appropriateness exist in the new textbook. Thus a more elaborate care should be applied on the textbook description. Problematic descriptions notwithstanding, the new textbook has various positive changes. In sum, an appropriate application on the actual school environment will enhance the learning efficiency. In this regard, application methods were suggested as follows: a teaching method of history by restructuring the entire chapter; and an application method of the narrative materials frequently presented in the textbook. The former is a compre- hensive application, whereas the latter a partial one. Both are based on the contents of the textbook and restructured by a teacher in charge of the actual class according to the interest of students, distribution of time and use of materials. This study provided a new method of restructuring a textbook. It can be used as a reference or standard in revising the textbook in 2009.

        승용차 정면충돌에서 에어백 전개가 운전자 손상에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of air bag deployment in passenger car head-on collisions on injuries to the driver. The drivers in head-on collisions who were brought to the emergency rooms of two hospitals from January 2011 and October 2014 were evaluated, as were the vehicles involved. The driver injury level were assessed by utilizing Collision Deformation Classification (CDC) codes, and the Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) and Injury Severity Score (ISS), respectively. In this study, it was shown that the chest ISS and AIS were significantly high when an air bag only is deployed. A statistically significant difference was found in the crush extent when the driver who fastened the seatbelt was found to be affected more than the ISS 9. Even when an air bag is deployed in a head-on car collision, injury severity can vary according to accident circumstances and crash severity. Accordingly, first aid can be rapidly given, and the injured person can be quickly referred to a hospital, only if the assessment of persons involved in a vehicle accident is accurately carried out.
