The aim of this study is to analyse the acoustical characteristic of multi-purpose hall. The acoustic parameters and the subjective responses are compared and analyzed. The objective facilities used in this study are composed of four halls : BU, HN, JD, MP which are matte use of multi-purpose hall. The physical parameters compared and analyzed in this study are SD(standard deviation) of SPL(sound pressure level), RT(reverberation time), D_(50)(definition), C_(80)(clarity) and STI(speech transmission index), and the subjective parameters are about loudness, reverberation, intelligibility and satisfaction.

How consumers perceives Korean heritage is the most essential motivation to purchase traditional products. This study investigates if there is a difference in the value perception of traditional culture on preferences for and the long-term relationship of Hanboks. It also investigates differences in the preference and consumption behavior of Hanboks depending on the degree of experience for Hanbok. For this research purpose, data were collected from 745 residents between the ages of 20-60 in the Seoul and metropolitan areas through online and offline surveys. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and path analysis, using the SPSS-WIN 20.0, AMOS 20.0 program. The value recognition toward traditional culture derived aesthetic and symbolic factors. The result of grouping according to the experience of the Hanbok indicated that the two groups of traditional cultural values influenced preferences for Hanboks. In the middle group, only the symbolic value had a significant influence on the preference of Hanbok. It was found that the less experienced group had no traditional culture value factor which had a significant effect on the preferences for Hanboks. Based on the results of this study, it is expected to be used as basic data to establish a marketing strategy to increase the preferences for traditional culture such as Hanboks by increasing various traditional culture experiences as well as Hanboks.

This study aims to investigate Korean English learners’ speech act of request, specifically focusing on the preference of strategy use and request speech formation. 89 college students participated in the study and completed two multiple choice formated DCTs. The results indicate that participants preferred to use ‘query preparatory’ (as request strategy) and ‘external modification’+‘internal modification’+‘head act’ (as request speech formation), although the preference possibly changes due to the complexity of the relation among social variables. This study also found that English proficiency has a relation with the preference of request speech formation while gender has a relation with the preference of request strategy use. The directions of further studies were discussed with the limitations of this study.
Identifying Korean College Learners’Communication Strategies in English-Mediated Classes
전지현 팬코리아영어교육학회 2012 영어교육연구 Vol.24 No.3
This study investigated communication strategies used by Korean college students in English-mediated classes. Specifically, this study looked into the types of communication strategies and their relationship with learners’ facets. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods were employed and 116 college students participated in this study. Regarding the types of communication strategies, the result showed that the participants utilized all types of communication strategies somewhat evenly, although the participants showed the highest mean value in the strategy category of ‘use of all purpose words.’About the relationship between communication strategy use and learners’ facets, this study reported that ‘L2 proficiency,’ ‘learning motivation,’ ‘anxiety’ and ‘self-confidence’ could be factors explaining communication strategy use of Korean college learners, with the fact that the quantitative analysis showed no significant learners’ facets explaining the participants’ communication strategy use. However, the quantitative analysis showed that there were two learners’ facets explaining the participants’ use of ‘avoidance’ types of communication strategies. Discussion and pedagogical implication were provided toward a more efficient communication strategy study.
Strategic Behavior: A Case Study of a Korean Student's Reading Difficulty in US Classrooms
전지현 한국응용언어학회 2009 응용 언어학 Vol.25 No.2
This small scale of a case study explored a full range of possible reading strategies of a Korean female student in relation to reading behavior in a US academic context. It also investigated the factors affecting the learner's strategy use. Three data collecting methods (i.e., checklist, think-aloud, and book analysis) were employed to examine the learner's reading strategies. An interview was used to find out the factors which might affect the learner's use of strategy as well as her self-recognized strategy types. Results indicated that the strategies the L2 learner indicated to use were not identical with what she actually used while reading, although the learner used all three types of strategy classified by Jimenez, Garcia and Pearson (1996). This study also reported that the learner's strategy use was affected by factors such as language difference, motivation, and level of English proficiency. Further research is discussed.
