Following liver transplantation, a few reports have documented hepatic venous outflow obstruction (HVOO) after inferior vena cava (IVC) stenting for the treatment of IVC stenosis. However, HVOO occurred early after IVC stenting and was mostly associated with living donor liver transplantation. Here, we report a case of HVOO that occurred 31 months after IVC stenting in a man who received deceased donor liver transplantation (DDLT) using a modified piggyback (PB) technique. The cause of HVOO was unclear, but one possible explanation is that the balloon-expandable IVC stent might have compressed the IVC chamber on the donor liver side, which would have changed the outflow hemodynamics, resulting in intimal hyperplasia. Therefore, simultaneous hepatic venous stenting with IVC stent placement could help prevent HVOO in patients receiving DDLT with the modified PB technique

With the increased understanding of the global warming, the importance of the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology in preventing the release of CO2 became more apparent. In this study, we are looking into microalgae using CCS and its biodiesel conversion. The production of biodiesel from the microalgae biomass is promising work because of its environment-friendly stages. It uses daylight and flue gas, generated by burning of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and containing CO2, NOx, and SOx. Chlorella sorokiniana UTEX 2805 was selected to cultivate in outdoor flue gas emission source. The strain has high resistance to high temperature and grows when supplied with flue gas. Particularly, it shows a noticeable lipid accumulation without N source in summer. Due to its heat-tolerance, Chlorella sorokiniana is a prospective microalgae strain that can greatly contribute to the advance of the biodiesel production.

Existing CCS technology means process for CO<sub>2</sub> capture, transportation and storage. The process of each step spends substantial energy for CO<sub>2</sub> absorption and desorption by chemical and physical absorbent. However, leakage and harmful byproducts from reservoir is main obstacle of this technology. Therefore, biological conversion of CO<sub>2</sub> is now receiving attention. Microalgae are one of the potential conversion agents. Also it is possible to produce bio-products for example biodiesel, carotenoids, proteins, biological active chemicals. BECCS facility integrates bio-energy production and CO<sub>2</sub> treatment, but it is not commercial scale yet. Therefore, this study is carried out providing the fundamental data of LCA and economic feasibility for BECCS technology using microalgae.

This study analyzes how different cultures are depicted in the writing sections of the Korean high school English I and II textbooks. This study uses a critical qualitative research design focusing on a liberal and critical approach to writing sections that include “model” or “example” writings in order to examine whether they are helpful to enhance Korean high school students’ multicultural competency. The results revealed that information about liberal multiculturalism occupied the largest portion of the writing sections while that representing critical multiculturalism was rarely included. That is, “model” or “example” writings in the high school English I and II textbooks still cling to the spirit of liberal multicultural orthodoxy, which has been dominant in English pedagogy policies, teaching, and research. This study also discovered that Western and European countries were mostly positively pictured while a deficit view toward African and other third world country cultures was presented. In general, “model” or “example” writings in the textbooks have the possibility of treating all the cultures in the books equally, although it was found that this is not the case. Based on the findings, this paper suggests a more challenging way to develop critical multiculturalism in writing sections, rather than maintaining a dominant interpretive framework of culture.
Sleep Disorder in Tinnitus Patients

Background and Objectives One of the most common complaint of tinnitus patients hasbeen sleep disorder. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between sleep disorderand tinnitus. Subjects and Method Patients with tinnitus from July 2018 till August 2019 were enrolled. Subjects who had any acute/chronic disease in the inner and middle ear or external auditorycanal, sleep apnea and had more than 3 caffeinated beverages a day was excluded. Study participantscompleted Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), the tinnitus symptom questionnaire,tinnitus handicap inventory (THI), Pittsburg Sleep Quality Inventory (PSQI), pure tone audiometry,a full otologic examination and an interview on past medical history. Results THI was correlated with PSQI global score and BDI. The PSQI subscale most relevantto THI was PSQI 1 (subjective sleep quality). Hearing impairment was correlated withthe THI functional subscale. BDI was individually related to PSQI. Conclusion Tinnitus is found to be highly related to sleep disorder, suggesting a commonpathway of aggravation and treatment target. Tinnitus is also more affected by sleep disorderthan by depression. A further examination and treatment of comorbid sleep disorder in tinnituspatients is recommended.
