        The author report here the clinical data of 18 cases of tonsillar cancer which verifide histopathologically during six year period (Jan. 1965-Dec. 1970) at the Dept. of Otolaryngology, S. N. U. H. . The results were as follows; 1. The histopathological classification revealed 11 cases of malignant lymphoma, 4 squamous cell carci?noma;2 undifferentiated cell carcinoma and 1 anaplastic cell carcinoma. 2. The age distribution was even and the sex ratio was almost equal in malignant lymphoma, whereas the squamous cell carcinoma was found chiefly in fifth and sixth decades and in man. 3. Most of the cases (more than 80%) complained of sore throat and more than 70% of the cases had visited the clinic within three months after onset.

        Analytical solutions are sought for the scattering of a plane longitudinal ultrasonic wave by a semi-infinite crack embedded in an infinite elastic medium. Stress formulation for exact solution to this problem, available from the literature, is modified and extended for displacement fields. In the formulation, the Wiener-Hopf technique and the Cagniard-de Hoop method are used to solve the mixed-boundary problem. The angular distribution of the displacement magnitude due to the diffracted longitudinal wave is obtained for various angles of the incident longitudinal wave, several characteristics of the diffracted wavefield have been observed: for example, the displacement fields are symmetric with respect to the crack faces. In order to confirm the accuracy of the formulation and program for the exact solution, the results are compared with the approximate solution obtained by the geometrical theory of diffraction. It has been found that the two solutions for the longitudinal diffracted wave agree well with each other in terms of their angular distributions. Though the exact solutions for further similar problems must be found and confirmed, the analytical solutions and the programs developed in this study will play an indispensable role in the development of a reliable ultrasonic simulator.

      • 초음파 탐촉자의 수치 모델링 및 시뮬레이션

        As an attempt to further improve the reliability and effectiveness of ultrasonic testing (UT), a two-dimensional numerical simulator of UT is desired. Such a simulator may be established by combining the previous mass-spring lattice model (MSLM) that consists of mass-points and springs and transducer models. Models of transmitting and receiving piezoelectric transducers are introduced in this paper with some numerical results. Using the models, various problems having typical UT setups are addressed, and the computed results are discussed. The numerical results appear to be physically reasonable though they should be validated through future works.

        우리나라 탈산업화 현황과 대응방안

        우리 경제는 고용과 명목생산 기준으로 보면 1980년대말을 기점으로 전체 경제에서 차지하는 제조업 비중은 낮아지고 서비스업 비중은 높아지는 탈산업화 현상이 나타나고 있는 반면 실질생산 기준으로는 아직까지 탈산업화 단계에 접어들지 않고 있는 것으로 보인다. 이러한 우리나라 탈산업화의 원인은 제조업 부문의 빠른 생산성 상승과 소득수준 상승에 따른 소비패턴의 변화 등 경제발전 과정에서 자연스럽게 발생한 현상으로 분석되었다. 흔히 제조업 공동화의 한 현상으로 거론되는 제조업 부문의 해외직접투자 증가는 탈산업화와 무관한 것으로 판단된다. 앞으로 탈산업화가 심화될 경우 발생할 수 있는 성장 둔화, 실업증가 및 소득불균형 심화 등의 문제에 대처하기 위해서는 정보통신, 유통, 금융 등 생산성 상승 속도가 빠르고 타 산업에의 성장 기여도가 높은 서비스업의 발전이 긴요하다. 이를 위해서는 서비스 부문의 개방 확대와 진입장벽 제거로 경쟁을 촉진하는 동시에 노동 및 자본시장의 유연성을 제고하여 산업부문간의 노동, 자본 등 생산요소의 이동이 보다 원활하도록 하여야 할 것이다. This study shows that Korean economy has been deindustrialized since the late 1980s in terms of employment and nominal production in that the proportion of the manufacturing out of the whole economy has decreased whereas that of the service industry has increased and, on the contrary, is not yet at the stage of deindustrialization in terms of real production. As the result of theoretical and empirical analysis here, the deindustrialization in Korea is brought to pass spontaneously in the course of its economic growth―the more rapid productivity growth of the manufacturing and changes in consumption pattern due to income growth. In addition, increasing foreign direct investments in the manufacturing which have allegedly been responsible for the hollowings of the manufacturing turn out to have little to do with the deindustrialization. Meanwhile, in order to cope with some adverse effects which could be had with the further deindustrialization hereafter, such as slowdown in economic growth, higher unemployment rates and wider gaps among income brackets, it will be necessary that the service sectors which highly contribute to growth of other businesses and, at the same time, whose productivites increase with much rapidity-for instances, IT, distribution industry or financial businesses-should grow in both quantity and quality. For this purpose, competition among the businesses should be stimulated through the broader opening of domestic service industries and removal of the entry barriers widespread in them. Besides these, it should be made possible that requisites for production, i.e. labor or capital, are transferred among the industries more smoothly by increasing elasticity in both labor and capital markets.

        초음파검사의 수치적 모델링 기법 : 유한차분법 및 유한요소법

        초음파검사에서 발생하는 물리적 현상의 복잡성을 고려할 때, 이를 이론적으로 모델링하기 위해 수치적인 기법을 이용하는 것이 효과적인 경우가 많다. 본 논문에서는 초음파검사를 수치적으로 모델링하는 기법들에 대하여 개괄적으로 살펴보고, 특히 유한차분법과 유한요소법에 대하여 상세히 알아본다. 즉, 유한차분법과 유한요소법을 이용한 해석의 개요를 설명하고, 이들의 적용시 고려사항 및 문제점에 대해 알아 본 후, 기존의 연구결과 중 중요한 것들을 참고문헌으로 열거하고 몇 가지 예를 소개한다. 계속되는 컴퓨터의 기술적 발전으로 인하여 초음파검사에 대한 수치적 모델링 기법의 신뢰성과 편의성이 지속적으로 증대될 것으로 기대된다. Due to the great complexity of the physical phenomena involved in most ultrasonic nondestructive testing, the numerical method is effective in many cases of their theoretical modeling. A brief overview is provided in this paper of the numerical methods used in modeling ultrasonic nondestructive testing, with an emphasis on the finite difference and the finite element methods. The procedures of execution, special considerations required, and some previous research results of the finite difference and the finite element methods are presented, with a rather extensive list of work reported in the literature. These numerical modeling techniques for ultrasonic nondestructive testing are expected to be more reliable and more convenient, as a result of the continuing technological development of computers
