Purpose: To evaluate clinical effects of intracameral voriconazole injection in fungal keratitis refractory to conventional therapy. Methods: Thirty-eight eyes of 38 patients with fungal keratitis were included in this study. The patients were divided into 3 groups: 13 patients with intracameral voriconazole injection (50 μg/0.1 ml; group A), 11 patients with intracameral amphotericin B injection (10 μg/0.1 ml; group B), and 14 patients with conventional therapy only (group C). Clinical factors including treatment success rate and time to successful treatment were evaluated. Results: Treatment success was accomplished in 12 eyes in group A (92.3%), 10 eyes in group B (90.9%), and 12 eyes in group C (85.7%). Time to treatment success in group A, B, and C was 36.1 ± 10.4 days (p = 0.04), 34.2 ± 7.8 days (p = 0.03), and 49.5 ± 16.7 days, respectively. Patients who had received intracameral voriconazole injection or amphotericin B showed faster fungal keratitis improvement than patients who received conventional treatment. Time to re-epithelialization and time to disappearance of hypopyon showed a similar clinical course. Conclusions: Intracameral voriconazole injection, which has a similar therapeutic effect as intracameral amphotericin B injection in the management of fungal keratitis, can be helpful in the treatment of intractable fungal keratitis.

본 논문은 초전도 플라이휠 에너지 저장장치 (Superconductor Flywheel Energy Storage System : SFES)의 고속회전 시험을 통하여 휠의 진동 특성을 평가 하였다. 초전도 베어링(Superconductor Magnetic Bearing : SMB)은 동작시키기 않고 플라이 휠의 외부 외란이나 예측하지 못한 진동을 억제할 수 있도록 설치된 전자석 댐퍼(Electric Magnetic Damper : EMD) 만을 이용해 휠을 부양하고 고속회전 시험을 수행하였다. 이를 통하여 플라이휠의 고속 회전 운전영역에서 EMD는 충분한 진동억제 능력을 보임을 확인 하였다.

In this paper, the rotational loss of the superconductor flywheel energy storage system (SFES) by motor/generator stator core was assessed. To do this, the vertical axial type SFES with journal type superconductor bearing was manufactured. To quantitatively assess the rotational loss by the stator core, the rotational losses by superconductor bearing and the degree of a vacuum were measured. In case of variation of the inner radius and outer radius of the stator core, the rotational losses were measured. From the experimental results, It is confirmed that the rotational loss can be reduced by means of the optimal stator core design.

In this paper, 5 ㎾h class Superconductor Flywheel Energy Storage System (SFES) was constructed including motor/generator, superconductor magnetic bearing(SMB), composite rotor and electromagnetic damper(EMD) system. High speed rotation test was performed after levitating flywheel rotor only using EMD without SMB. the PD controller of EMD was designed. the control system is constructed using xPC which is real time digital control system. the results of high speed rotation test showed that proposed EMD system have sufficient damping in cylindrical mode and conical mode, and vibration of wheel was suppressed below 10 ㎛.

Lichen planus is a chronic inflammatory disease that mainly involves the skin and oral mucosa. We report the case of a 57-year-old female who presented with a 6-week history of localized violaceous papules on her back and both extremities. Prior to presentation, she had received acupuncture on her back and both extremities, and 2 weeks later skin lesions occurred along the treated area. From the histopathologic findings of the lesion, the patient was diagnosed with lichen planus and treated with intralesional and topical corticosteroids. Dermatologic diseases such as atypical mycobacterial infection, foreign body granuloma and contact urticaria associated with traditional Korean medicine treatments have been reported. To the best of our knowledge, there has been only one report of eruptive lichen planus triggered by acupuncture in English literature to date. Herein, we report this rare and interesting case of lichen planus related to acupuncture. (Korean J Dermatol 2015;53(8):628∼630)

Purpose: In the present study we evaluated the changes of measured retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness using optical coherence tomography (OCT) after phakic intraocular lens (implantable collamer lens, ICL) implantation and analyzed the factors correlated with the changes of measured RNFL thickness. Methods: Forty eyes of 40 patients (Group A: 20 patients using spectral domain OCT and Group B: 20 patients using time domain OCT) who underwent ICL implantation were included in this study. RNFL thickness was measured 1 week before surgery and 1 month postoperatively using OCT. The changes of measured RNFL thickness and the correlation between patients' data were analyzed. Results: The postoperative measured RNFL thickness of the average, inferior, temporal, and superior quadrants were increased compared to preoperative measured RNFL thickness in Group A. Group B had similar results in the average, inferior, and superior quadrants (<em>p</em> < 0.05). However, the postoperative changes of RNFL measurements were not correlated with the preoperative spherical equivalent, the degree of spherical equivalent change and diopters of implanted lens (<em>p</em> > 0.05). Conclusions: The measured RNFL thickness after ICL implantation may increase compared to the preoperative value. Caution should be taken when interpreting the RNFL thickness values measured by OCT in patients with myopia who undergo ICL implantation. J Korean Ophthalmol Soc 2014;55(5):702-710

The principal objective of the present study was to survey the demands of an education program for evaluations of the efficacy of health functional foods. A questionnaire was developed and sent to 2,225 members of the Biofood Network Center. A total of 101 (4.6%) individuals responded, 54.5% of the respondents were male and 45.5% were female; the respondents` occupations (in order of prevalence) were as follows: company worker (48.5%)>researcher (27.7%)>student (13.9%)>professor (5.0%)>pharmacist (2%), and dietitian (2%). The businesses in which the respondents worked were (again in order of prevalence) as follows: research & development (64.4%)>marketing (11.9%)>consultation and education (5.9%)>manufacturing and others (17.9%). 41.6% of the respondents reported experience in businesses relevant to KFDA approval for functional ingredients and health functional foods. The results showed that 63.4% of the respondents had previously been educated about functional foods; the types of education program reported were (in order of prevalence): `overview and acts of health functional food` (n=49)>`standards and specification for health functional food` (n=41)>`efficacy evaluation-human study` (n=24)>`safety evaluation` (n=21)>`efficacy evaluation-in vivo study` (n=13)>and `others` (n=10). Respondents preferred off-line education programs (62.4%) to on-line programs (22.8%). The preferred duration of an educational program was `2~3 days: total 14~24 hours` (30.7%); thus, short-term programs were favored. The primary requirements of a program, from the perspective of the learner, were as follows (scored on a 7-point scale); `efficacy evaluation and case study-human study` (5.80 points)>`standards and specification for health functional food` (5.72 points)>`safety evaluation` (5.7 points)>`overview and acts of health functional food` (5.67 points) and `efficacy evaluation methods of health functional food by efficacy (intensive)` (5.67 points). Preference for functionality was as follows; `body weight & body fat` (21.8%), `immune function` (18.8%) > `blood glucose` (10.9%). In summary, the educational demand for `efficacy evaluation and case study` was highest among the curriculum options provided, and with regard to functionality, `body weight & body fat`, `immune function` and `skin care` were considered most important by respondents. These results differed among respondents with different jobs and duties, and this suggests that customized education programs for health functional food should be developed.
