DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs) are an enzyme family that catalyzes the transfer of a methyl group to DNA for a wide variety of biological functions. To determine whether the number and composition of the Dnmt gene family affects the 5-methylcytosine (5mc) ratio at the genome level, genome-wide 5mc ratios from three marine animals, the mangrove killifish (Kryptolebias marmoratus), an intertidal copepod (Tigriopus japonicus), and a monogonont rotifer (Brachionus koreanus), were analyzed in each organism after the cloning of Dnmt genes. Lineage- and teleost-specific gene evolution was observed in the vertebrate Dnmt3 gene family, while unique gene expansion was found in the T. japonicus Dnmt1 gene family. However, the rotifer did not have any apparent homologue of Dnmt1 or Dnmt3 in its genome. This gene information was highly supportive of genome-wide 5mc levels in the three marine animals. Therefore, the absence or presence of the Dnmt gene family could be an important evolutionary parameter of how this could affect genomewide epigenetic metabolism.

Microcystins are cyanobacterial hepatotoxins, and are produced by nonribosomal enzyme complexes, mcy gene cluster. In this study, we report on whole mcy gene clusters from two Korean strains of M. aeruginosa that were blooming in Lake Paldang (FCY-26) and Geum river (FCY-28). Their specific gene locus, amino acid information, and sub-cluster orientation were also characterized in both strains. Both gene clusters are of 55 kb, and also each length, number and the arrangement are identical. Their sequence analysis revealed a cluster of 10genes (mcyA, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, and J) involved in the biosynthesis of microcystin, and mcyABC and mcyDEFGHIJ formed two polycistronic operon structures that are transcribed bidirectionally from a central promoter region between mcyA and mcyD. The analysis of SNPs provided different nucleotide composition and amino acid variations in two Korean strains of M. aeruginosa. This approach is useful to develop genetic indicators identifying toxic cyanobacteria and their cyanotoxins,and helpful for a better understanding of the diversities of mcy gene clusters, the biosynthesis of microcystin, and the mediation of environmental parameters causing algal blooming and HABs.
미량의 코발트 첨가가 W-Cu 전기 접점재의 성질에 미치는 영향

高負荷能을 갖는 W-Cu系 전기 접점재의 미량의 Co를 첨가함으로서 얻어지는 諸使用特性의 變化를 單純W-Cu系와 또 미량의 Ni을 첨가한 경우와 對比 조사하였다. W-Cu-Co (tr.)系는 W-Cu-Ni (tr.)系나 W-Cu系에 比하여 旣發表한 바와 같은^(1)) 燒結 및 溶侵時에 보여주는 有利한 製造上의 特性이외에도 그 전기적특성에 있어서도 뚜렷한 개선을 보여주었다. Frequency Response 법에 의한 알카리금속 증기와 알곤의 열전도 도측정에 관한 연구

The Frequency response to alternating current of a fine wire surrounded by alkali metal vapor was studied theoretically and experimentally for determining the thermal conductivity of the vapor. Data were obtained for cesium and rubidium vapors at pressures from 0.0829 to 0.214 atm. A new method was employed of correcting for temperature jump and vapor volumetric heat capacity. The reliability of the method is indicated by agreement with literature values for argon up to 1085℃. The standard error of the argon correlation is estimated at 1.6%, and the total probable experimental error in the cesium and rubidium vapor measurements is estimated at 5.1%.

The variation of the interfacial and the electrical properties of SiO$_{2}$TiW layers as a function of anneal temperature was extensively investigated. During the deposition of SiO$_{2}$ on TiW chemical bonds such as SiO$_{2}$, TiW, WO$_{3}$, WO$_{2}$ TiO$_{2}$ Ti$_{2}$O$_{5}$ has been created at the SiO$_{2}$/TiW interface. At the anneal temperature of 300$^{\circ}C$, WO$_{3}$ and TiO$_{2}$ bonds started to break due to the reduction phenomena of W and Ti and simultaneously the metallic W and Ti bonds started to create. Above 500$^{\circ}C$, a part of Si-O bonds was broken and consequently Ti/W silicide was formed. Form the current-voltage characteristics of Al/Sico$_{2}$(220$\AA$)/TiW antifuse structure, it was found that the breakdown voltage of antifuse device wzas decreased with increasing annealing temperature for SiO$_{2}$(220$\AA$)/TiW layer. Purpose: To localize and compare the neural basis of verbal and visual human working memory, we erforrned functional activation study using H2O PET. Materials and MethoDs: Repeated H213O PET scans with one control and three different activation tasks were performed on six right-handed narmal volunteers. Each activation task was composed of 13 matching trials. On each trial, four targets, a fixation dot and a probe were presented sequentially and subjects task was to press a response button to indicate whether or nat the probe was one of the previous targets. Short meaningful Korean words, simple drawings and monochromic pictures of human faces were used as matching objects for verbal or visual memory. All the images were spatially normalized and the differences between control and activation states were statistically analyzed using SPM96. Results: Statistical analysis of verbal memory activation with short words showed activation in the left Broca's area, premotor cortex, cerebellum and right cingulate gyrus. In verbal memory with simple drawings, activation was shown in the larger regions including where activated with short words and left superior temporal cortex, basal ganglia, thalamus, prefrontal cortex, anterior portion of right superior temporal gyrus and right infero-lateral frontal cortex. On the other hand, the visual memory task activated predominantly right-sided structures, especially inferior frontal cortex, supplementary motor cortex and superior parietal cortex. Conclusion: The results are :consistent with the hypothesis of the laterality and dissociation of the verbal and visual workmg memory from the invasive electrophysiological studies and emphasize the pivotal role of frontal cortex and cingulate gyrus in working memory system.
