        Systems Engineering approach to Reliability Centered Maintenance of Containment Spray Pump

        This paper introduces a systems engineering approach to reliability centered maintenance to address some of the weaknesses. Reliability centered maintenance is a systematic, disciplined process that produces an efficient equipment management strategy to reduce the probability of failure [1]. The study identifies the need for RCM, requirements analysis, design for RCM implementation. Value modeling is used to evaluate the value measures of RCM. The system boundary for the study has been selected as containment spray pump and its motor drive. Failure Mode and Criticality Effects analysis is applied to evaluate the failure modes while the logic tree diagram used to determine the optimum maintenance strategy. It is concluded that condition based maintenance tasks should be enhanced to reduce component degradation and thus improve reliability and availability of the component. It is recommended to apply time directed tasks to age related failures and failure finding tasks to hidden failures.

        『자에는 자로』의 미해결의 결말

        Structurally Measure for Measure can be divided into two parts. The first half of the play (from its beginning to the middle of Act Ⅲ) deals with the opposition of forces such as liberty vs. restraint, life vs. death, and justice vs. mercy. The second half explores ways toward their resolution. The last scene of the public judgement is polemical among the critics owing to Shakespeare's management, through the Duke, of the play's conclusion. The resolution that the Duke imposes upon the comedy looks artificial or perfunctory. The very marriages that he proposes coercively for the union of comic society does not clarify the conflicted inner world of the characters. They remain silent in the end. The silence is a form of resistance rather than of acceptance. A superficial dramatic resolution in Measure for Measure is due to the intensity of conflicts that precede it. The tense antagonisms between liberty and restraint, life and death, justice and mercy cannot be resolved in such a way that one absorbs the other. One has meaning in the existence of the other. Liberty based on restraint, life on death, mercy on justice could make human world more valuable and meaningful. Measure for Measure is the last of Shakespeare's comedies. Shakespeare puts emphasis on agon as much as on komos. It's a Shakespeare's experiment on comedy, an attempt to put tragic themes into comic form. It might be a prerequisite stage for him to prepare for the next tragic period beginning with Othello.

        Endobronchial actinomycosis is a rare chronic suppurative granulomatous infection of the bronchus, and this is sometimes related with a foreign body or a broncholith. The traditional treatment of endobroncial actinomycosis is intravenous antibiotics for 2 to 6 weeks and then oral antibiotics therapy for 6 to 12 months. We report here on 2 cases of endobronchial actinomycosis that were associated with a broncholith and a foreign body, respectively. Surgery followed by short term antibiotics therapy for only 20 days and 34 days, respectively, was effective as treatment for the endobronchial actinomycosis in our cases. After treatment, there were no complications or recurrence during the following period. We suggest that short term antibiotics therapy combined with a surgical operation might be effective as treatment for primary endobronchial actinomycosis, and especially when this illness is combined with a foreign body or a broncholith, as compared with traditional long term antibiotic therapy.         아버지의 사회경제적 특성이 대학생 자녀의 시간사용에 미치는 영향

        시간은 모든 사람에게 동일하게 주어진 자원임에도 불구하고 사용행태 따라 개인이 창출하는 성과와 삶의 질은 다르다. 본 연구는 통계청에서 제공하는 한국생활시간조사 3개년도(2004, 2009, 2014) 자료를 사용하여 아버지의 사회경제적 특성이 대학생 자녀의 시간사용에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 토빗(Tobit)모형으로 분석한 결과, 아버지의 학력(석박사/대졸)이 높거나 추가적인 자녀가 있는 경우 대학생 자녀는 학습(수강/자율학습)과 문화활동에 시간을 많이 사용하는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과는 아버지의 학력이 높을수록 자녀는 성과창출 가능성이 높은 학습 및 여가 유형에 시간을 많이 사용한다는 것과 학습시간에 있어서 자녀들간의 긍정적인 상호작용이 존재한다는 것을 보여준다. 반면 아버지의 학력이 높은 자녀일수록 게임・TV이용시간은 적게 나타났다. 본 연구는 아버지의 사회경제적 특성으로 인해 자녀의 시간사용 행태가 달라진다는 것을 보임으로써 자녀세대의 자원 활용이 불평등 재생산의 중요한 원인임을 제시한다. The difference of time use behavior between children affects the individual’s outcomes and quality of life. I investigate the relationship between father’s socio-economic characteristics and undergraduate student children’s time use patterns using Korea Time Use Survey 2004, 2009, 2014 By the result of analysis based on the Tobit model, the children whose father has high level of education(master & doctor degree) and additional children spend more time learning(tutoring) and cultural activities. And I find that children of more educated parents spend less time using games and watching television than children of less educated parents, This study analyzes the effect of parent’s socio-economic characteristics on time use of children not by the outcome variables, but by the behavior variables of time use. It provides implications for the reproduction of social inequality.

        캘리밴과 에어리얼 : 『태풍』의 아웃사이더

        The Tempest was the last comedy that Shakespeare wrote. It had the tendency to project themes of reconciliation and forgiveness in the way that previous Shakespearean comedies did; but this play has more complicated aspects than the others. The major light falls on Caliban and Ariel, two outcasts from the comic society, which comes to the fore at the end of the play. Their isolations make the audience not only detached from the celebration for a new society, but also had an impact on the spectator in a retrospective way. Above all, Caliban and Ariel play out the role of linking themes of power struggle in the main plot with love themes in the sub-plot. Their roles are contrasted from each other between willing service and reluctant disobedience. The willing service of Ariel brings an order to the chaos of usurpation on a political level. Secondly, Caliban and Ariel represent two contradicting forces within Prospero's self. Caliban is the dark side of Prospero's mind. Caliban and Ariel are outsiders and insiders as well. Their presence and absence bring out comic irony, and they exert a serious influence over the play's resolution. As Caliban gets to know his own self, he gets closer to Ariel, but ultimately he will never become Ariel. As the movement of comedy towards reconciliation becomes stronger, the excluded forces tend to be states of mind rather than particular characteristics of individuals. In this play, Caliban is construed as the evil of Prospero's inner mind, rather than a figure of flesh and bone, which Prospero will have to deal with and overcome. In The Tempest, there is a lack of the female Earth, which is usually a key to the comic confusions of a romantic comedy. Prospero's wife is missing in the play; he does not have a sexual partner. For Prospero, Miranda is a temptation to be overcome rather than a force for sexual liberation. The fertility rite, celebrating the marriage of Ferdinand and Miranda is the product of a man's imagination, not a woman's; this results in the incompleteness of the comic resolution.

        날씨가 시간사용에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 -1999년, 2004년, 2009년 한국 생활시간조사를 활용해서-

        본 연구는 외생적으로 주어지는 날씨변수(강수 여부)를 활용하여 날씨가 시간사용에 미치는 영향을 분석함으로써 한국의 기간간 노동공급 탄력성을 추정하였다. 비오는 날은 맑은 날에 비해 사람들이 심리적으로 감성적이 되고, 실외 활동을 자제하게 된다는 자료들을 바탕으로 비오는 날에는 상대적으로 비생산적이고 제약이 작은 실내 활동에 더 많은 시간을 사용하게 될 것이라고 가정하고, 날씨로 인해 시간사용이 변화되는 모형을 구성하였다. 1999년, 2004년, 2009년 한국 생활시간조사와 날씨자료를 연계하여 모형을 분석한 결과, 비오는 날에는 남성의 경우 노동시간을 22분 줄이고 여가시간을 15분 늘리는 것으로 나타났으며, 여성의 경우 노동시간을 16분 줄이고 여가시간을 8분 늘리는 것으로 나타났다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 한국의 기간간 노동공급 탄력성을 추정한 결과 남성은 -0.0055, 여성은 -0.00468로 추정되어 기간간 대체성이 거의 존재하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. This purpose of this study is two-fold: the first is to analyze the impacts of weather on working men and women`s time use, the second is to estimate intertemporal substitution of labor in which the enjoyment of leisure is a function of the weather. Using Korea Time Use Survey data for 1999, 2004, and 2009 matched with weather reports, the impact of a rainy day on the time spent in work and leisure was examined. This study finds that men work 22 minutes less and have an average of 15 minutes more leisure on rainy days. The findings for women show the same pattern, but variation is smaller. This effect varies greatly by cohorts and employment types, with 40s and self-employed showing the largest variation. I estimated intertemporal substitution of labor using exogenous variations in daily weather to see how time at work varies with rain. A rough estimate of the intertemporal elasticity of labor supply for men was computed, with a result of about -0.0055, which is extremely minimal.

        셰익스피어의 희극적 전략 : 『베로나의 두 신사』

        Whenever Shakespearean comedy is mentioned, attention is often paid to Shakespeare's middle comedies which are also cal1ed "mature" comedies. Shakespeare's early comedies, with the exception of A Midsummer Night's Dream which is regarded as his first comic achievement, tend to be undervalued or disregarded. Among the early comedies, The Two Gentlemen of Verona has been viewed as the least attractive and the least artistic. Censure has centered around the fifth act in particular with its implausible harmonies. Even though the play shows weakness in plotting, it tries several structural devices which wil1 be used in future comedies. However crude it seems to be, its fundamental structure mirrors that of the so-cal1ed mature comedy. Through this play, we can sketch the outline of Shakespearean comic strategies. Shakespeare's comic action moves from separation to reunion for the goal of social harmony, and from self-ignorance to knowledge for the goal of individual harmony, namely, recognition. Shakespeare establishes a "green world"-usually revealed as a woodland where conflicts are to be resolved. One of his hidden but core strategies, however, is to suspend or postpone the final moment of comic resolution. The purpose is to require the audience to alternate between the role of "participant" and "spectator," giving the audience a dual perspective. Shakespeare makes the most of the aesthetics of 'two'.

        『헛소동』 : 미완성 교향곡

        One of the characteristics shown in Shakespeare's middle comedies is that the outcasts, who are excluded from the comic society, prevent and overshadow the comic resolution. They are not simply, or one-dimensionally characterized, so their exclusion requires the audience to have a retrospective view. They are neither trivial characters, whose presence or absence makes no difference, nor worthy scapegoats to be readily sacrificed for the establishment of a new society. In The Merchant of Venice, when Shylock is forcibly expelled from the comic society, he changes his role from being the victimizer to the victim. In Twelfth Night, when Malvolio has to leave the comic society, the audience feel uncomfortable because the ridicule led by Sir Toby was too harsh for him. In As You Like ft, even when Jaques leaves the comic circle voluntarily for a higher love, rather than an erotic love, the comic vision of the play becomes hurt and gloomy. Don John of Much Ado About Nothing seems to be the most simply characterized, among the outsiders, in Shakespeare's middle comedies. He appears to be a motiveless villain. At the end of the play, he sits and awaits punishment for his ill demeanor. Unlike the other outsiders, he is not totally excluded from the comic circle. He reflects, not only the dark inside of the lovers, but also the impersonal workings of the plot and the machinery of accidents. He is the embodiment of self-ignorance of the major characters. That he is not yet reformed, insinuates that the major characters do not attain self-knowledge. So, they have to wait for him to repent and join the mirth of the marital feasts. In the meantime, the play's ending is blurred with the shadow of Don John, comic resolution is suspended, and Much Ado About Nothing is an uncompleted symphony.
