Vol.7 No.1

The hydro-dynamical and ecological coupled model were applied in the Tokyo Bay, to evaluate the flow pattern including water quality parameters and the distribution of biomass flux, and to compare with the results obtained from the satellite data during March 2001. The flow pattern and salinity distribution obtained from the present model were nearly identical with those of the previous studies. SST from NOAA/AVHRR was 2.5℃ higher than model reuslts in the mouth of bay and 0.5℃ lower than model results in inner bay, respectively. It was found that the concentration of chlorophyll-a estimated from SeaWiFS was considerably higher than that of model result, regardless similar distribution pattern. This disagreement will be studied through the more elaborate investigation in the future.

Vol.48 No.-

Shuo-wen Chien-Tzu(說文解字) is the great majority of the Chinese characters, listed in this dictionary, are analyzed as phonetic compound(hsing-shen(形聲 i.e. form and sound) graphs, with indication in each case of radical and phonetic element. Phonetic compounds consisting of one element, the radical, meant to suggest vaguely the meaning or general field of meaning of the word. Yu-wen Shuo is known by Wang Sheng-mer(王聖美) of the Song(宋) Dynasty. The question which the present paper raises is Yao(堯) word-family has or not 「high」semantic meaning. Finally, it can be shown that Yao(堯) word-family has the same or similar meaning, and that can be called Yu-wen(右文).

On this paper, it was studied separately in chronological order, characteristics of woodcut printing(木版) that had been published at Sung, Yuan, Ming(宋, 元, 明), three dynasties. First, during the Sung dynasty(A.D.960-1280), it was famous the small book (巾箱本)and we can easily see that even ancient books, reproducted by copying, had pictorial embellishment. Finally, in order to get the data of woodcut printings study, this paper was recorded the important wood carvings of successive dynasties, thirty-five sheets and the tools of woodcut, six sheets.

Vol.24 No.-

There are a number of theories concerning the determination of the period in which the Chinese engraved printing was started. The present study attempts to group them into six theories and to proved the validity of each. They are the theories belonging to Tong Han (東漢:25-110A.D), Puk Jae(北齊:550-570A.D.), Su Tae(隋代:581-618A.D.), Cho Dang(初唐:618-755A.D.), Chung Dang(中唐:755-907A.D.), and Oh Dae(五代: 907-960A.D.). The first recorded evidence on engraved printing in China found in the historical records concerning the later part of the Dang Dynasty(唐代末葉). Kum Kang Kyung(金綱經) which is now preserved at the British Museum was Proven as one of the early products of engraved printing. It is possible to conclude that Chinese engraved printing originated in the middle of Dynasty which corresponds to the ninth century A.D.

Vol.34 No.-

The brilliant and talented Yu Hsuan-Chi (A.D. 843-868) was famous as the most eminent Taoist poetess of later T'ang years. A leading female exponent of Taoism, she wrote poems freely and, believing in the equality of the sexes, associated boldly with men. She excelled in lyrical, retrospective and deep felt description. As a representative woman-writer in the history of Chinese literature, she has been acclaimed for the depth of her knowledge and her noble virtue. Her poems and songs number 53 in all, with 47 of her poem appearing in wood-block print during the Sung dynasty. She possessed an individuality that set her apart from the numerous other poetesses of the T'ang dynasty. Her works sang the praises of intellectual liberty and her freedom from the bondage of Confucian restriction. The strength of her will is evident in her writings. Her works thus figure prominently in the history of Chinese women's contributions to Chinese literature. This article examines her works in the light of the literary environment and way of life of the time, and attempts classifications and estimations of her works, comparison with her female contemporaries in the field of poetry, and analysis of collections of poems which appeared in woodblock.(宋木版). There are only two study papers which are found. 1. Genevieve Wimsatte, "Selling Wilted Poenies Bibliography and Songs of Yu Hsuan-Chi T'ang Poetries." P.119, 1936. 2. Chin Han-Sung (陳恒昇), "Estimation of Yu HsuanpChi, T'ang Poetess." Changryu (暢流) vol.37, No. 11, p.13, 1969.7.

Vol.27 No.-

"Pen Ploughings in the Gardens of Cinnamon" is the collected works of Choe Chi Won(856-?) the poet, writer and scholar of Silla whose fame reached even the Tang (唐) court. He was the first great Korean scholar of Chinese. His style lacks robustness, but his stature derives from his delicay and from beauty of his work. This collection was also published in China. Since its publication in 886, a number of editions have been produced in manuscripts, wood blocks, prints and so on. The present paper aims at determining the faults of the various editions by comparing them on the basis of the scientific method, known as textual criticism. The Original meaning of textual criticism has the implication of laws. It should be based on evidence and sound judgement. For the source edition the SaBuChongKan series(四部叢刊) was chosen for its authority. Other editions, including the HaeSanSunKwan series(海山仙館), ware examined so as to add what had not been included, to determine the true and the false in the contents, and to complement the various editions. The result of the present study indicates approximately 10,000 characters in default among the nine different editions now in print. Extensive use of Chinese references in addition to Korean sources have been employed.
